What's your comfort food? For me it's Sloppy Joes.
>>
>>22262226
i dont think it's appropriate to dust the top of a sloppy joe bun with green herbs, or to serve a sloppy joe on paper.
>>
>comfort food
>>
>>22262226
What even is a sloppy joe. Don't have it here in Yurope
>>
>>22262288
Ground beef in a tomato based sauce, on a bun. The ground beef tends to fall out, making it sloppy.
>>
Baked potatoes with lots of cheese, sour scream, and bacon
>>
Sliced turkey sandwich with cheese slice and mustard.
>>
>>22262226
Sloppy joes should be eaten in hotdog buns instead of burger buns.
>>
>>22262226
Creamed tuna on toast. Sometimes add frozen peas.
>>
>>22262480
I think you’re on to something here
>>
>>22262855
I was at a cookout where they had sloppy joe and grilled hotdogs, both buns out at once. Standing with paper plate in hand, I realized I was given a choice, the opportunity to be more than an animal. For the first time in my life I could see the world clearly.
It's the exact same texture and experience, but none of the instability and fucking mess.
>>
>>22262867
>none of the instability and fucking mess.
you're missing the point entirely.
>>
>>22262874
exactly. he made a tidyjoe and really doesn’t see any problem with that. while all the other guests were covered head to toe in joe, he was spotless. probably didn’t even need a single napkin. makes me sick to my stomach to think about.
>>
all food is comfort food
>>
>>22262895
maybe hes more comfortable eating a tidy joe instead of a sloppy joe. maybe he understands the principle of a comfort food far better than you or any of the other patrons. have you ever considered this? or do you just follow the popular conventions in a listless unquestioning daze?
>>
>>22262902
You’ve never had an uncomfortable food?
>>
>>22262928
While all the other guests were stripped down to nothing, getting hosed off and deloused by the cookout host. He was sitting in the corner fully clothed probably sipping his juice box. It’s antisocial behavior.

Chocolate, sweets, ice cream, pizza...

Used to be peanut butter and toast, but its been months since i've had that.
>>
>>22262983
pb used to be my favorite food and I developed pseudodysphagia and now peanut butter triggers an instant choking response when it touches the back of my throat

You're missing out

Anyways, Reuben sandwiches are mine. I used to associate them with Pee Wee Herman because his real name was Peter Paul Reubens.

So comfy
>>
>>22264633
my dad used to make the absolute SLOPPIEST joes pretty regularly. I mean you couldn’t even eat it really, it was so insanely sloppy that it just didn’t make it to your mouth. I have never attempted to make them in my adult life because I know it wouldn’t hold a candle to dad’s.
>>
>>22262263
That phrase was around before reddit even existed you dumb zoomer
>>
>>22262288
Look up a recipe. It's a cheap meal so if you don't like it who cares, but sloppy joes with sharp cheddar and pickles is great. Mashed potatoes or something would be a good side to soak up the slop from the joe
>>
>>22266628
I feel like sloppy joe mix would've better in a pasty crust like a jamaican beef patty or simply rolled in a tortilla. I've eaten a lot of sloppy joes in my life and the bread was always the worst part
>>
>>22266675
that sounds so…neat and tidy. I don’t understand your blatant disregard for the slop factor.
>>
>>22266680
when I was a kid I'd scoop up the sloppy joe that fell out of the bun with potato chips or doritos.

if you want to go maximum slop disaster I feel you'd enjoy a loosemeat sandwich
>>
>>22266682
>if you want to go maximum slop disaster
this is what I’m aiming for with every meal
>>
>>22266675
Huh? Cheap white bread burger buns soak everything up really well. They're the perfect vessel for the slop and the joe
>>
>>22266781
what type of bread should I use if I want to have absolutely no structural integrity? like immediately fall apart, leaving a sloptastic catastrophe in its wake
>>
>>22266783
Wonderbread probably
>>
>>22262226
Mashed potatoes and gravy
>>
>>22266783
some kind of really crumbly biscuit
>>
Chicken Parm
>>
>30 piece wings (10 teriyaki 10 lemon pepper 10 honey hot)
>large side of fries crispy on the outside soft on the inside
>2 diet cokes
ahhhh, heaven
i'd have it every week if it wasnt $40 for a single meal
>>
>>22267098
you could make that yourself for like 15 dollars. wings in the oven or air fryer come out really good. or you could deep fry outside on a propane burner. frying can be annoying but if price is your hangup I think it'd be worth it (for the fries primarily). if you used chicken breast to make boneless wings you could reduce the price by about half, although you may need to tenderize breast meat by velveting or other means.
>>
>>22267142
it's not the same brah, trust me. ive made wings before and something about gas station wings just hit different. also, its a comfort food. the convenience of not having to make it myself is a big part of the comfort i derive. like you said frying is a massive hassle and thats not my idea of unwinding on a friday night
>>
>>22267144
cooking chicken = discomfort?
>>
>>22262288
hamburger meat in a sweat and tart tomato based sauce on hamburger buns
it's a cheap meal
>>
>>22266682
sloppy joes are the only bunsandwich that pairs better with chips than with fries
>>
>>22267173
you know exactly what i mean you pedantic nitwit
>>
>>22267183
good homemade potato chips can go toe to toe with fries on any occasion
