Panda Express being the original creators of orange chicken always makes me chuckle

    You love shit?

Hawaii has some absolutely feral cuisine. Absolutely otherworldly cuisine as a whole.

It's better than actual Chinese food
    >>

It's just a worse version of General Tso's.
    >>
    >>22258286

This is ok but too sweet.
    >>
    >>22258772
do youse guys ever call it General Gau's? for some reason around New Englad General Gau's is more common but apparently nowhere else
    >>
    >>22258286
    I love orange chicken too!
    >>
    >>22258772
Two different dishes. This is like saying apples or worse versions of oranges, or oranges are worse versions of apples if you like apples more.

Orange chicken was based on General Tso's
    >>
    >>22260724
I've actually made both and you use different ingredients and fry them with different coatings to get a different texture and flavor profile. About the only thing that's still similar is that they're still chicken that's fried in some way.

general tso is just the americanized version. like how chicken tikka masala is a better version of butter chicken
    >>
    >>22258293
    Yes but no
It's from the original sit down restaurant that panda express spun off of
    >>

    >like how chicken tikka masala is a better version of butter chicken
This is a bit of an oddity.
Butter Chicken seems to be more of a thing in the USA but looking at the pictures and recipes, it doesn't look much different than CTM.
Butter chicken in Britain is far paler as the main sauce is made from Butter, Cream and Almonds (sometimes Cashews)

Both General Tso and Orange Chicken are just sweeter American versions of the original Tangerine Chicken.

It really, legitimately is. No I don't want to eat fucking fermented chicken feet, I want to eat fried chicken in a tasty orange sauce with fried rice on the side. "Authentic" Chinese food is disgusting nine times out of ten.
    >>
    >>22267348
Actual chink food was just eating anything to avoid starvation after all the farmers died in a civil war. Same reason Italian pizza sucks ass but when it came to the US where meat was cheap it became great
    >>
    >>22260683
    >>22258772
They taste the same one is just typically tangier
    >>
    >>22267345
butter chicken is the authentic indian dish that was invented in india. chicken tikka masala is a bastardization of butter chicken invented by the british
    >>
    >>22268262
    Wrong.
If you had read my comment, the whole point was that they should be two different dishes but Americans seem to make them in a similar way, and think they are similar or a "bastardization of" - which you seem to have done. I'm not sure butter chicken is entirely Indian either but that's another story.

    >>22259021
Kek I was gonna say this gau is common here. t. Dorchester anon

orange chicken with white rice is pretty damn good
i don't know why they go great together
    >>

the chicken is sauced the fuck up
    >>

    >paler sauce from butter, cream and almonds
That's funny, around here that type of curry sauce would be called korma, but I'm not autistic enough to check if this is authentic or the bastardization of some indian nomenclature for that stuff
    >>
    >>22261138
    It's apples and oranges.
    >>

    >strolling the mall, saw panda and felt like eating some orange chicken slop
    >see AI menu at the checkout

I guess I understand smaller businesses trying to cut any corner they can, but really? this company generates like $7 billion dollars a year... it's not only that they used AI, but they made the exact same looking slop that every other business does
    >>
    >>22267348
The only thing holding back American Chinese cuisine are shitty restaurants that never change their oil and use rotten vegetables.
    >>
    >>22259004
Make extra rice and mix it in. It helps a lot.
    >>
    >>22268834
    >That's funny, around here that type of curry sauce would be called korma
    No.
Korma often has a coconut taste and contains coconut or milk.
