Can you guys please recommend me some fancy cocktails recipes to drink (alone at night)?
I enjoy drinking while reading when it's around 11PM, but I realized that I know only three recipes. I'd like some more variety. Nothing too crazy, I don't need 13 ingredients but I just want to add more variety.
My base alcohol of choice is gin.

>Can you guys please recommend me some fancy cocktails recipes to drink (alone at night)?
I recomend you to not drink alone.

But if you're going to do it, try gin + lemon juice + soda + hibiscus tea.
>>
have you tried a gin and tonic?
>>
>>22254925
Gin and fresh lime. I wouldn't call it fancy, but I hold it in high regard.
>>
>>22254931
>I recomend you to not drink alone
A wise advice. Luckily, I only drink one glass, and only twice a week or so.
>gin + lemon juice + soda + hibiscus tea
Sounds intriguing. In what proportions?
>>22254932
Yes, in restaurants; it was boring to me, the tonic doesn't add much to the taste.
>>
>>22254925
Fresh citrus fruit. Tonic, bitter lemon or just sparkling water.
>>
>>22254925
Gimlet
>>
>>22254925
50 ml italicus
20 ml orange juice
20 ml lemon juice
20 ml Aperol
20 ml foamer / egg white /aquafaba

dryshake, shake and finestrain in a chilled couple without ice.

I don't have a picture on me right now but this is a killer cocktail. smooth soft and balanced.
>>
>>22254955
Interesting, I've never heard of it. I'll order a bottle of Rose's lime juice and try it out. Thanks!
>>
>>22254947
>In what proportions?
My girl always makes me these, I'll ask her when I'm back home.
>>
>>22254979
It works because of the sugar in the cordial, but has the extra tang, accompanied with the fresh lime. I'm not keen on sweet cocktails, the cordial balances it out. Otherwise it's just sourness and gin.
>>
>>22254975
Sounds fancy indeed. I'll see if I can find Italicus.
>>22254988
Thank you.
>>
>>22254975
By the way, how is it called? If it's your own recipe, I shall write it down in my handbook with the name you'll come up with.
>>
>>22254925
For gin, and aviation is always nice if you want something smooth and negroni if you want something stiffer. If not those, I like to take a mason jar, fill it with gin and some tea bags (two-three if you use black tea and three-four for green tea) and let it steep in the fridge, overnight. Then, it's:
>2 oz. tea-infused gin
>1 oz. ginger liqueur
>1/2 oz. lemon juice
>1/2 oz. simple syrup

Shake with ice and strain into either a rocks glass to serve as-is or into a Collins glass if you want to top with club soda.
>>
Have a Negroni. Have two.
>>
>>22254925
Monkey Gland. Gin, orange juice, grenadine and absinth. If you have real absinth just use a drop of it. Also use more grenadine than most recipes say.
I don't know why but that drink tastes nothing like the ingredients you used.

I'll try it out, it looks nice on a quiet night.
I'm cautious of of tea-infused gin, but I'll try your other recipe at least once.
>ginger liqueur
Interesting! I've has this ginger liqueur bottle for over a decade and never really found any use for it. Thanks.
>>22255066
I've tried the negroni only a couple of weeks ago (once again in a restaurant) and didn't enjoy it. It felt too thick and sugary, for lack of better words.

I mix Jack Daniels with Orange-Pineapple-Banana 100% juice and a dash of bitters.
>>
amaretto with a squeeze of lime, over ice
>>
>>22257929
no wait, i used disaronno
amaretto was too aspensive
>>
Ginger ale and Twisted Tea. Easy to make, easy to drink.
>>
>>22257929
>>22257938
how the fuck do you do it, it's so sweet. the only way i've found i enjoy disaronno is 1:1 with freshly squeezed orange juice, basically a disaronno screwdriver. great color on it too

Bloody Bulldog, warmed

pour vodka into any sparkling water, i call it a hard seltzer

Here it goes:
>2 shots of gin - about 2 oz / 60 ml
> 1 tablespoon of dried hibiscus flowers
>200 ml / 3/4 cup of water
>Tonic water
>Fresh mint leaves
>Ice cubes

Brew the tea, let it cool down, put ice on cup, add gin and tea, fill with tonic, add mint.

Drink it while reading this, where gimlets (made with 1/2 gin and 1/2 Rose's lime juice) plays a part in the story.
>>
I don't think a Negroni should be sweet or thick, Negronis have been hugely popular for the past few years so I think there are a lot of places making bad ones out there, try make one at home or go somewhere decent, if it's really not for you could also try a White Negroni for something different it's gin, Suze and Lillet Blanc.

Otherwise for gin I could suggest a Lucien Gaudin - gin, dry vermouth, Campari, Cointreau for another riff on the Gin/Campari/vermouth idea - the dry vermouth might be more to your taste, rather than the sweet vermouth used in the Negroni. Otherwise you could just get into Martinis.

Aside from that I would suggest some of my personal favourites:

Boulevardier - Bourbon, Vermouth, Campari
Sazerac - Rye, Cognac, Absinthe, Peychaud's bitters
Vieux Carre - Cognac, Rye, Sweet Vermouth, Benedictine, Peychauds, Angostura

Look at Difford's guide for your recipes.

Vieux carre is great
Also like a bijou, or a corpse reviver #2

Bijou: equal parts gin, green chartreuse, sweet vermouth, garnish with orange twist/bitters
Corve reviver #2: rise glass with absinthe, equal parts gin, lillet, Cointreau, lemon juice, garnish with lemon spiral
>>
Thanks to everyone, I now have enough cocktails to try until christmas.
>>22259007
My bottles of Rose's lime juice arrived today. I've just poured my first gimlet (and ended this sweet gin bottle); I haven't read Raymond Chandler's books but I've played the 90s Philip Marlowe video game. Currently reading Hodgson's Night Land.
The cocktail itself is nice, thanks for the recipe. Surprising extra tang indeed.

No Twisted Tea in Europe.
>>22259194
No Mountain Dew in Europe neither.
>>22255147
Sounds pretty mysterious. What are the ratios?
>>22259184
>>22259463
Thank you very much for all those recipes (and Difford's guide)!
>>
>>22259565
>Sounds pretty mysterious. What are the ratios?
5 cl gin
3 cl orange juice
0.5 cl grenadine
1-2 drops of absinth

Some recipes call for only two drops of grenadine and absinth but then you can't taste the grenadine at all. Others say a barspoon each of those but 5 ml absinth just overpowers everything. Some recipes also use the same ratio for gin and orange juice. Just experiment with the ratios. Using freshly squeezed orange juice is mandatory though as stored bought ones usually lack flavour and are kinda watery. Tangerine probably works too. You will also need actual grenadine made from pomegranate.
>>
>>22259565
Replace the mountain dew with some Midori and lemonade (the fizzy kind, not the american tea style).
>>
>>22254947
Instead of a gin and tonic try gin, a few slices of cucumber, a sprig of mint and soda water.
>>
hey op, nothing wrong drinking by yourself

>negroni
1/3 of each
gin
campari
red vermouth

>gin and tonic
gin
tonic
complemented with stuff like
rosemary+cranberries
lime
sage+yuzu
usually i go about a third gin and the rest tonic, but you are allowed to mix however you want

>pink and gin?
gin
carpano, contratto, or another bitter. campari probably works too
grapefruit tonic
2/3 gin to 1/3 bitter, or half and half if you like it
>>
>>22254947
>I only drink one glass
So my question is how do you stop yourself from drinking another one? It'll feel good, and your inhibitions are weakened.
>>
>>22260403
By not being depressed probably. My parents don't really drink alcohol. They just drink or much more eat liqueurs with ice, cakes or sauces and they immediately stop after like a shot as they already feel tipsy. They are seriously the only people i know that actually do that. Most will just drink more or stay completely absent.
Meanwhile i'm already drunk as usual...
>>
>>22260410
that's funny, a glass of sweet wine (sherry, porto, marsala, madeira, tokaji aszu) with a piece of cake is the only kind of alcohol i can manage to drink only a little bit of and then stop and not be tempted to drink further.
it's also the only kind of alcohol i'd allow myself to consume during periods of abstinence
>>
>Saturn
>5 gin
>3 lemon juice
>1 orgeat (¼ oz)
>1 part passion fruit syrup [or dragonfruit, or hibiscus/jamaica]
>1 part falernum

Gin tiki drinks are under appreciated.

Try highball and tonic variations. Gin Mules. Tend to like blue curacao in mine, or mojito-ficating the more junipery and piney ones with cilatro garnish. Definitely get the Italico anon suggested up the thread, good stuff.

And there's always martinis. Get weird with dirty martinis.

>I enjoy drinking while reading when it's around 11PM
That's a cozy ritual. I used to drink like that, but life and emotions and everything is overwhelming so now I'm an alcoholic. I miss the euphoria from one or two drinks before winding down for bed. Now I just numb myself.
>>
>>22261358
Nice sob story. You can just go back to drinking the way you were before. No one's forcing you to be a drunk.
>>
>>22260403
>So my question is how do you stop yourself from drinking another one? It'll feel good, and your inhibitions are weakened.
Is this how people who are prone to addiction think? It sounds alien to me. I'll just have another one in a couple of days or next week. I don't even think about getting another drink.
>>22260323
Thanks.
>>22259686
Thanks, I'm really curious about this one but
>You will also need actual grenadine made from pomegranate
Looks like I'll have to look online.

Does no supermarket have pomegrate juice?

Enjoy your privilege
>>
>>22263526
Not the one I usually go to. I'll try another, bigger one this saturday.
>>22263637
Thanks, I guess, but I really don't understand that kind of craving. My parents were virtually non-drinkers. They would drink two bottles of wine a year at most, christmas and new year included, so I never considered drinking alcohol to be something casual.
>>
Any cocktail that uses Campari imo is viable to have it subbed for a Ferrari shot (50/50 Campari fernet split) for a fun, more bitter, minty variant
>>
>>22254925
Nah i dont drink i smoke weed heil satin
>>
>>22263649
Fernet isn't even bitter.
>>
>>22263665
This is literally like saying honey isn’t sweet, nonsensical engagement bot
>>
>>22263649
interesting, i'll try this. sounds like a good way to go through my fernet quicker
>>
>>22263680
Try some actual bitter like boonekamp.
>>
>>22263736
Boonekamp isn’t even bitter.
>>
finally got my hands on some st. germain
i knew it was an elderflower liqueur but this thing tastes practically identical the elderflower juice/syrup we drink in my country, you can hardly even tell it's alcohol. it's not like with cointreau where you go "oh yeah this is orange flavored", but it's very obvious it's not orange juice, it's much closer to the real thing
>>
>>22263841
Nice try. Fernet is still very sugary for a bitter.
>>
>>22254925
Limeade + pickle juice + vodka
Haven't tried it with gin but maybe it's good that way too
>>
French gimlet, trust me

Cheapest 35%+ ABV spirit available straight from the bottle, room temp

I'm usually pretty good I just enjoy being in an altered state. It's less risky than what I was doing as a teenager/young adult so it can't be the end of the world.
>>

Why would you enjoy this?

gee I dunno that's a toughy
>>

Only a certain type of humans "enjoy" (need) drugs.
>>

I made this tonight and it was very nice

1.5 shot Spiced rum
2.5 shot Apple cider
.5 shot Lemon juice
.5 shot Maple syrup
