Hello, fellow /seagulls/. I haven't been here for a while but I have a question to ask you. I am currently working on a long term tech project of building a small, relatively autonomous Star Wars MSE-6 droid to roll around in at conventions. I have plans to have it be responsive and reactive through a small AI accelerator, and to do that I want to put a little camera on it to be its window to the world. Nothing is directly recorded or saved, it's sent to an image-to-text transcriber, and then *that* result is fed to the AI to react to. Nothing from either video or transcription is stored long term, as it would take up a lot of data anyway. It's using the transcriptions purely to respond to the world in a closed, local system (It won't be able to connect to Wifi).I'm thinking I could put a small note on it saying that it is recording for the purpose of interactions but that nothing is saved or stored, only the droid's responses to said thing.1) Is that just far enough in the grey area for me to be okay with just asking convention runners if it's ok to bring in? Or is that more likely going to be flat out banned the way Meta glasses were?2) Would you want to interact with it? Would the anti-AI folks hate this sort of thing and try to destroy it?
This is a tough one. People have a melty over recording them in public but it might be hard to explain to them the nuance of what you're doing
