Now that the dust has settled, do you think participating in j fashion was net positive in your life?
>>10976878>Now that the dust has settledFrom what? This place is dead as fuck. Are there only bots making threads here anymore?
>>10976884I don’t mean here specifically, but overall j fashion falling out of relevancy.
>>10976895>overall j fashion falling out of relevancyMaybe when it comes to EGL, but I feel like J-fashion is on the rise if you mean J-fashion in general and not specifically the more extreme sides of it. The number of Uniqlos in the US has only been going up in the past few years, for example.
>>10976923>UniqlosThat’s something you would unironically discuss on /fa/, here we talk alternative jap fashion.
>>10976895>I don’t mean here specifically, but overall j fashion falling out of relevancy. It's not falling out of relevancy, but the way j-fashion takes place has changed dramatically. Older styles have fallen out of favor or become incredibly niche, more recent ones are more hype based and closer to fast fashion than exploring a certain ideal. J-fashion as a term has been quite watered down with how quickly a trend can spread. I would probably even assume the demand for japanese subculture inspired fashion is bigger than ever thanks to how developed information exchange and e-commerce has become making cute clothes and respective media really accessible, but the way it's experienced is not comparable to the 2000s and 2010s. Jirai-kei is probably the best example what the average experience will look like today. For EGL it comes off as if the community has sort of split into half. One consists of primarily older lolitas who have already settled within the fashion, are taught through classic sources, mostly well informed and well aware of the fashion environment and their rules. The other seems to mostly consist of newbies, oftentimes on the younger side, who picked up inspiration through social media or online shops, are chronically bad at sourcing information on their own, flock to the first thing they see and call it a day. Although these types of people have already existed before, the total share within the community seems to have grown significantly and caused the other half to withdraw itself to trusted circles. It's not falling out of relevancy per-se but communities seem to have publicly withdrawn a LOT for said reasons.
