I've been interested in these uncanny masks and have some questionswhat to look for when buying one?anything specific to avoid?can you dance wearing one? (assuming it has a fan)can you use a normal wig or do they need a special one?can you swap the eyes?
There is significantly more information on Kigurumi on the /jp/ thread, look for /kcs/.It's very expensive, and like many things, you get what you pay for. Just do some research on any prospective mask maker you are interested in, and try to find other kigs that already have them. The only thing I would go cheap on is the hadatai, but for anything else if you cheap out it will look like garbage. For the other questions, dancing is technically possible, but you have very limited sight and depending on the hadatai and cosplay, you may have mobility issues to think about. Just keep in mind that if you fall and your mask shatters, that's a lot of money down the drain. Kigurumi masks have special wigs that usually are either attached to the mask, or go over it. Depending on mask maker, you can swap the eyes, but it's usually expensive and you get other tradeoffs in the rigidity of the mask. Some of the 3D print DIY'ers do integrate replaceable eyes into their designs however to swap between solid/mesh eyes etc.
>>10976771NTAYRT How breathable are they? I feel like I would suffocate in there. I already have some breathing issues and I don't see any notable noise height holes. I've been working on a helmet for a character recently and I've had to drill so many holes into it before it felt acceptable to wear for extended periods of time.
Do they all come with lockable clasps?Every single kig youtuber I come across talks or jokes about the lock so I assume they're a standard feature.
>>10976779I would say it's comparable but perhaps a bit better than a full face motorcycle helmet. it's gonna get muggy in there if it's hot out, and any kind of strenuous exercise will start to affect you, but doesn't really affect me if I'm just wandering around>>10976927They don't all come with locks, some makers explicitly make masks with locks, but most don't afaik. All the kigs that joke about their locks or share too much information about their kigu kinky sexu time are just engagement farming their fetish. Locks are completely optional.
>>10976936every kigu youtuber has an undercurrent of kigu sexy time they're glossing over, it's very much like the furry fandom, where everyone has the understanding furry cons are low key gay sex meet and greets and they're all having sex with their partial fursuits on.They should just embrace it desu, even kigu conventions have that same energy.
>>10976771why don't kigs use see-through mesh eyes like furries do?they all complain about their masks being so hot sweat pools in the chin part of the mask and sloshes around
>>10976951Probably because the kigu fandom is way smaller, so there's less money in it innovating than in the furry fandom.
>>10976949>every kigu youtuber has an undercurrent of kigu sexy time they're glossing over,This desu. Been researching some kigu sources lately as well as I have been somewhat intrigued by the different experience compared to traditional cosplaying, but almost every youtube or social media channel I come across eventually carries some undertones making it obvious there is more going on than just having some silly dress up time.>>10976927It's not mandatory, but many do include them for fetish reasons.
I wonder If you can even breath behind those mask, are there holes for ventilations? Because it seems to hug really tight to the face
>>10976949I recognise that Tewi kigu. He goes to basically every Touhou convention in the greater bay area and has at least three different masks. I'm not sure how he affords it.The first time I encountered him was after a Touhou concert. I was standing around autistically in the lobby with my fumo out, he approached me and made his Reisen fumo kiss mine. I've never been more scared in my life. After seeing him for the fourth time I finally worked up the courage to ask for a picture.
>>10977001Yes, you can breathe. There are small cutouts for the eyes so you can see, and the mask isn't sealed around your face. It only looks tight because the kiger is wearing a skin suit called a hadatai that matches the color of the mask to make it look more seamless.
