What are some newbie questions that you are absolutely sick and tired of hearing? From "Where can I buy" to "why so expensive"
    >>
Pretty much the entirety of r/Lolita. All they do is ask other people how to dress; what dresses to get, where you can get something for cheap, which sites to use, what exactly to coord it with, "what kind of petticoat do I need for this dress?" all the basic shit that is literally written in the Wiki linked in the sidebar.

But the ones that really chap my ass are the sympathy farming posts, "my parents won't let me wear Lolita :(" I need to make a bingo card for those, because they're always 15, they're from a 3rd world country, they don't have any money for Lolita, they need their parents to buy it, parents think it's a fashion for perverts, etc etc etc. Like, you're 15, and a full coord is potentially hundreds of dollars, let alone a wardrobe of EGL. Of course your parents don't want to buy this shit for you???
    >>
    >do I NEED to wear a petticoat and bloomers ?
    >>
    >>10976796
Im not into lolita but I always wear a petti and bloomers under dress/skirt just because I like those
    >>
    "Is this lolita?"
    >jirai mini jsk
    >random thrift shirt with stains
    >pieces of alice in wonderland costume
    >extremely popular burando piece

"Can I turn this into lolita?"
    >ugly ass thrift dress with weird cheap fabric and wrong shape
    >right shape but miniskirt
    >wedding dress (???)

"Is this dress design lolita enough?"
    >either not at all or an ugly amalgam of shit
    >costume
    >obvious steampunk lolita (answers "no, its regular lolita not steampunk!")
    >mid design that can be improved but refuses all critiques with some excuse

Jirai and its consequences have been a disaster for alt/jIfashion.
    >>
    >>10976805
Jirai takes up a bunch of patterns in one of the recent otome no sewing books, too... its already half mori girl shit anyways. Ugh.
    >>
    >>10976812
Jirai is cheap fast fashion, I don't think anyone who actually wears Jirai would go to the effort of DIYing their own pieces...
    >>
    >>10976814
Right, on top of that they picked the most mass produced jirai looks. Who is this even for
    >>
    >>10976846
The grand total of two (2) people who either take issue with jirai being all polyester fast fashion or want to be elitistic and gatekeep over THEIR jirai being hand-made instead gatekeeping through mental illness.
    >>

Redditors are stereotyped into being the laziest and stupidest bunch for good reason.
The "lolita expensive" posts are a dime a dozen and you can see them on every social media out there.
Its guaranteed to be mostly children that never learned about being patient and saving for things you want. It annoys me to no end when I see it because the same people will whine how because of "capitalism" its too expensive.
Crazy idea, turns out spending good money on quality pieces that aren't produced in the shame shitfactory as SHIE(T)N is gonna cost a little more than $15.

The ignorance surrounding anything military EGL related makes me sigh too, its like Meta released 1 piece in bad taste and suddenly every black military EGL OP makes you part of the SS.
    >>
    >>10976846
Jirai's main point is looking copy-pasted though. But how recent is this issue? This looks very outdated even for jirai, people call this classic jirai now.
    >>
    >>10976890
    >how recent is this issue?
That pattern is from Otome no Sewing 17 released December 2022 - almost a 4 year old issue.
    >>
    >>10976890
    >>10976892
    >4 years old
    >"Classic" style
Jirai is going to last a few more years tops before the Tiktok menhera's lose interest in the trend if 4 years makes something an old style
    >>
    >>10976893
It's already a miracle that it lasted that long considering how quick some styles and substyles in J-fashion can come and go and how tiktok and insta microtrends can last for just weeks before disappearing.
Guess there are still people playing the Needy Streamer Girl game for the first time and so long as that happens there will be new jirais.
    >>
    >>10976896
    >Trends only lasting a few weeks

It's okay you can say Tenshi Kaiwai
    >>
    >>10976901
I was moreso thinking of western microtrends that die out after a month but good call there.
    >>
    >hello i'm a MALE and i want to WEAR LOLITA AS A GUY what coord would look good on me AS A MAN where can i find lolita that HAS MALE SIZES FOR MEN WHICH I HAPPEN TO BE....heh i don't think anyone's ever seen this before but as a DUDE I want to wear lolita....is that ok?
    >top 10 upvoted post of all time below only posts such as "check out my coord by the way I'M A MAN" and "I AM PERSECUTED FOR WEARING LOLITA :((( BUT I DO IT ANYWAY!!!"
    >>
    >>10976893
The style was already old when they put it in the book. That's a 2019 look.
    >>
    >>10976909
    The insufferable victim.
    >>
    >>10976910
What the fuck does Jirai look like now then, if that's the old style?
    >>
    >>10976893
It's already diluted as is, check out those compilation instas like @yamikawa_109 and @yamikawaii.tokyo and see what is labaled jirai there. Lots of random goth / punk / egirl eboy shit. "Jirai danshi" in particular is just eboy shit with eyebag makeup, I don't think it's really a thing outside of western circles though.
    >>
    >>10976910
    >>10976915
I would say it really was the peak of that particular style since brands like dearmylove and lizlisa was releasing things like that way till around 2024. Brands really start to ditch the pink x black starting from 2025.
    >>
    >>10976801
    You forgot :
    >"is this lolita ?"
    >amazon-tier maid cosplay
    A classic old as time.

    It's so pathetic to see.
Men used to do sweet gestures for women they liked, now they virtue signal in hopes for a crumb of attention.
    >>
    >>10976944
The real thing to be upset about is that people aren't buying pieces and then modifying it themselves. Brolita was already a thing 10 years ago and back then men were men and did tailor work on their coords themselves.
    >>
    >>10976797
    who asked though

On this topic, its not exactly questions persay but subculture tourists who write fanfiction about the subculture, or join in on conversations where their input does not matter. The amount of non-lolitas i've seen online put their opinion into lolita discussions or even speak for the subculture itself is baffling. "lolitas hate you if you do this (arbituary rule that doesnt exist)" "im not a lolita but can I do this/and i do this" ok but who asked you though, you dont go here.
