    >MAGfest is sold out
    I'm going to kill myself
    >>
Don't kill yourself yet. Some people might refund their tickets if they don't win the hotel lottery.
    >>
Shit is dumb, man. I've never really cared much for Mag, since I've always thought it to be too expensive, but I'd be really fucking pissed if I was planning on going. How do they even deal with this for next year, since that will be even more fucked than this? Surely they don't just raise the prices again. Maybe they'll switch to the system you see for tickets where the price increases every x% of tickets sold instead of increasing over time, since I think that is a more fair way of pricing people out (although I doubt the people camping the page are thinking about ticket cost)

Remember how comic con used to sell out every year? It would be like that

    >I doubt the people camping the page are thinking about ticket cost
That reminds me of how during uni I had to sit on the class registration site until midnight to make sure I got all the classes I needed to graduate because they'd fill up so fast. I guess I now have to treat getting tickets to anything like that. My guess is it's sneakerheads moving on to ticket reselling now that Pokemon crap is harder to resell.

    >MAGfest sold out in 2025
    >MAGfest sold out in 2026
    >MAGfest sold out in 2027???

Wow, who could have seen this coming? The reality of the issue is people are retarded. Of course it was going to be sold out. It only has 25k tickets, other cons are 75k or more tickets. MAG also has an amazing reputation, and with Katsu getting shittier every year, more people swapped to MAG for their spring con. Finally, MAG has a retarded 100% refund policy plus hotel lotto is tied to tickets. If anon wants a room, he can buy 5 tickets, on 5 different cards, with slightly different names. The ticket only cost some change (if you can't afford it, get a job). After the lotto drawing in November, if Anon can get 100% refund on any ticket that didn't get a room, meanwhile selling any extra room tickets for a higher price. People online are just mad that they didn't log in sooner and will have to ride the cuck bus to the con.

If you do want a ticket OP, wait till November, all the extra tickets get refunded after the draw and will be available for resell.

did the other years sell out in less than 12 hours?
    >>
    >>10976052
Selling out in 6 hours is fundamentally different than selling out in months or even a week. Thousands of people genuinely interested in attending but just busy or sleeping or who were waiting to coordinate with friends during the selling window will not be coming now.
Plenty will give up on attenting outright and not try to engage in a refund system that will likely be even more frustrating to deal with than the pre-registration.

And what about next year? Will it sell out in 10 minutes? Have hours of technical issues and only people sitting down and refreshing the page constantly will get a ticket? Will they institute an attendance lottery? It's only going to get worse.

    >Thousands of people genuinely interested in attending but just busy or sleeping
No different that someone missing a hotel block for a con that sells out in 5 seconds. If they wanted to go, they would have been there. There were announcements made and a clear time to be present if they wanted to get a badge, with plenty of warning from previous years that it sells out fast. If someone did not get a badge they were not seriously considering going.
    >>
    >>10976066
There is a difference between hotel rooms selling out and badges for attendance selling out. As popular as the overnight stuff is for magfest thousands of people still don't care about it and only want to attend during the day. And they arent used to rushing for badges in the same way overnighters are used to rushing for rooms.

But ultimately you are right that most people serious about going probably got a badge this year. But next year? Unless they make major changes that won't be true. Like I said, it'll only get worse.

Look, I get it, but it has NEVER sold out before the hotel lottery that will take place a month or two later. Last year it sold out some time after the lotto, to say this was a reasonable expectation it would sell out the same night ticket sales went live seems wrong.
    >>
The retards who attend Katsu regularly need to stick to their own con. Can they not wait one fucking month?
    >>

    >If anon wants a room, he can buy 5 tickets, on 5 different cards, with slightly different names
This makes more sense than the scalping scenario I thought of earlier ITT. I went in 2025 and remember the hotel lottery having major problems, so if there's a way to game the system by abusing refunds like this I can see it becoming an informal mandatory thing if you want to stay at the Gaylord.

    >>10976052
I thought it was a badge swap, not a refund?
    >>
    >>10976142
After the lottery, theres a small window in which losers are allowed to refund their badge. No real commitment so it's easy to see why badges sold out so fast.
    >>
    >>10976143
then why are they talking about a big official MAG sanctioned page for reselling your ticket to someone else on their site if you can just refund it? Is there like a time window for the refunds?
    >>
    >>10976147
Because once the window is over. The only "proper" way to get your money back from buying a badge is through their reselling system. Trying to cut down on scalping/scams.
    >>
    >another year of not knowing a single person who got a room in National Harbor
    Cool.
    >>
    >>10976019
this is actually a major fuck up for a con. it means some retard actually dropped the ball when planning. selling out of BADGES (not rooms) in a few hours means A TON OF lost revenue. someone needs to get fucking fired.
    >>
Can't wait for people who bought badges to find out that they cut the two largest providers for their arcade.
    >>
    >>10976887
The story behind it is so petty and stupid

    >Save Point vendor who is partnered with Konami gets upset at Snow Phoenix for emulating Komani servers for their arcade
    >Save Point throws a big fit about wanting Snow removed from mag for emulating
    >Unknown how Snow responded to it all
    >Magfest comes in and says okay BOTH of you are removed
    >>
    >>10976905
Lame. I remember the year I went they had a seemingly endless arcade full of stuff for everybody, and if I wasn't from a city where I'm spoiled for choice when it comes to arcades I probably would have spent the entire con there. If they don't have it this year (or have a way shittier version of it because of this vendor fuck up) then I'm kinda glad I got cucked out of going by the pass scalpers.
    >>
    >>10976870
There are new waves of people coming in every single year plus people are panic buying multiple tickets for the hotel lottery. The convention fucked up, I'm not sure what they can really do to fix the hotel lottery bullshit.
