So I decided to try investing. I have no idea what I'm doing. Buy 1000$ worth of shares for a company that makes small onsite generators since AI buildout wants fast install energy. Check in about a month later. Up 100$....feel good.Check in today....down 550$. Finally figure out stop loss sell orders. I am an idiot for buying anything paper. Fuck this. I'm buying gold. I bought silver at 28$. Still happy about it.
>>62841412Mistakes:1. All in one company2. AI model or service that you can replicate at scale3. Conclusion: stock investing is badNot mistakes:1. No stop loss if there's downside protection/long-term strategy overlap2. They all want to run AIs? Don't care which one wins: buy the chips that make running AIs possible3. Buying precious metals. But you should diversify between metals for monetary debasement, government degeneracy and economic recession, and the hot sectors with upside potential, and we're in the middle of an industrial revolution. Chips, lithography and fabs are a choke point for any kind of AI no matter who wins. And we need energy, nuclear and rare earths badly.
I'm just crying at the casino. Should have placed a 200$ limit on single company exposure. I did by buy tech ETF with high AI exposure and it's basically stable. It's not going up or down . But, I'm using stop loss sell orders from now on. I'm not going to risk the whole thing tanking like this energy company has. The first stock I buy and 2.5 months later it's basically bankrupt.
