It’s a weird holiday. Deceptively strong aesthetic, but lacking a real core purpose or concept. Christmas spirit is easy to define, but Halloween is vaguely childlike wonder, spooky, and… fall. Horror movies are Halloween-adjacent, but they don’t do it on their own. There isn’t much music or mandatory participation. It’s hard to get into. I guess it would be easier in a place that has a fall.

I like the time of year more than the holiday itself. November is basically my favorite time of year, and 8 times out of 10 Halloween is good fall weather for a night walk.
