Can you imagine if they existed?

    >>
    >>5170756
    For a vertebrate yes
    >>
    >>5170756
Genetically it's not too hard, we know how to duplicate the embryo segment that creates extra arms via genetic manipulation for example, but natural evolution never went that way.
We do have some animals that turned ribs and musculature into extra "limbs". From fish that walk the bottom of the ocean, to lizards that have "wings" to glide with.

Dinosaur bones are dragon bones, gweilo.
    恐龙 == kǒng lóng
    1- dinosaur
    2- ugly person

    恐 == kǒng == afraid/fear
    龙 == lóng == dragon
    >>
The word "Dragon" effectively just means a large monstrous reptile. Nobody became autistic about it specifically referring to four-legged winged mythical beasts from late medieval europe until like the past 100 years. Large reptiles did and do exist. So yes.
    >>
    >>5170734
Dinosaurs are a myth based on dragons to steal tax dollars. All the bones you see in museums are fake. The small fossils of real creatures are the only real artifacts.
    >>
    >>5170857
    >Dinosaur bones are dragon bones
You are factuslly incorrect. Not a single dragon bone has ever been confirmed to be from a dinosaur. Whales, horses, dogs, cows, whatever. Never a single dinosaur bone has ever been confirmed from alleged "dragon bones." Ever. Dinosaurs are a myth to steal college grant money. Cooked up by the (((Morgans and rockefellers.)))
    >>
The dragon schizo theory fascinates me because it implies those people think giant reptiles are preposterous and only a retard would believe in them. But giant reptiles that fly and breathe fire? now that 100% existed
    >>
    >>5170734
I think they would somehow belong to archosauria if they existed. Just look at postosuchus and tell me that thing's skull is not dragon-coded. However they would, indeed, have really large wings in order to sustain flight.

Dinosaur denial has gotten really old

    >Erm actually these giant reptiles are just a jewish scam. THESE specific giant reptiles however aren't.
I really cannot for the life of me understand this rhetoric You agree that such creatures existed yet at the same time you don't?
    >>
    >>5170746
They probably would just become smaller like the beaver, and then government protected like the bald eagle
    >>
    >>5170925
My favorite is when they point at something like Quetzalcoatlus which is built like a living kite and say "this thing is obviously fake it would never be able to fly. Now dragons with huge arms, scales, tails and horns? obviously those existed and were able to fly"
    >>
    >>5170734

with an endoskeleton, yes. the problem is the logistics of muscle anchors, most the muscles on your torso exist just to move your arms, where are you going to put the muscles required to move another pair of limbs. its not as simple as copy pasta limbs here, theyre not arthropods, theres a lot of things going on to get limbs moving
    >>
    >>5170756
    >is it so crazy for an animal to have 6 limbs?
with the actual vertebrate biology present on our world? Yes. There aren't 6 limbed vertebrates to begin with, and even if we could hypothetically create one through genetic engineering it would need major anatomical readjustments in bone structure, spine length, vertebrae-muscle insertions and so on, and additional bones and muscles too.
    >>5170748
wyverns are dragons, anon. The distinction is just something some nerd came up with in order to add more pages to RPG bestiaries, but yes you're right; 4 limbed dragons are more plausible

    >>
    >>5170920
Its older than dinosaurs, because dinosaurs have no scientific basis. They are not audited by 3rd parties. That is the foundation of science.
    >>
    >>5171095
the distinction exists because heraldry, because dragon is both a specific and a non specific term in some countries
    >>

    THIS
also let's consider how the wings of a dragon with six limbs would work. How would the bones/muscles/nerves structure underneath be?

another set of ribs including sternum and scapulae, behind the front legs, maybe even a second ribcage layered over the first for muscle attatchment and hold everything in place. They would be extremely vulnerable to injury, and basically anything beyond some bruising could ground them forever

    >>5170734
I think most people forget that a dragon doesn't necessarily have to be a reptile.

The distinction exists because they are distinct designs with usually different assumptions and aesthetic goals attached.
    >>
    >>5171503
Then wouldn't it be more correct to say wyverns are dragons but dragons aren't wyverns?
    >>
    >>5171154
    What about this biology.
Perhaps not a flying animal, but one that uses those wings to intimidate or to subdue its prey.
    >>
    >>5170734
You could have a thing like a draco lizard with ribcage attachments that become more flexible after several generations to allow for turns and movements during gliding
Six pairs of limbs would really be exaggerated, maybe you could have some sort of pseudo-limbs based on articulated bony spines attached to the skeletal structure.
Fire breathing is too fantastic, though you do have in nature creatures like the bombardier beetle that use a chemical reaction to generate small explosions. Maybe have some glands in the mouth spraying a solution that burns when in contact with atmospheric oxygen
    >>
    >>5171437
No third part has ever audited the finding, transport, delivery, or preservation of dinosaur bones. It's a closed system with no actual peer review

Takes in tax dollars then charges you for a museum full of fake dinosaur bones, and a few real fossils of creatures that actually existed.

This is idiotic. “Third party auditing” - what the fuck does that even mean? Average People collect dinosaur fossils all the time (they arguably find more than academics). Journalists have been on dinosaur digs. You can pay to go on a dig on private land right now.

    >But giant reptiles that fly and breathe fire? now that 100% existed

Let me prove the theoretical portion is possible....

    >Giant:
Largest measured crocodile was 20 feet 3 inches (living specimen).

    >Flying:
    Pic.

    >Fire breathing:
    OK let's break that down.
I have a flamethrower from harbor freight. It attaches to a propane tank. I use it for brush clearing and occasionally to start a BBQ
    Compressed gas, electric start.

    >A human heart is capable of 2.32 psi.
    >Cows have 4 stomachs.
    >Farts are flammable.
    >Electric eels can generate 860 volts.
    >Snakes have forked tongues.
    >Snakes have a reinforced trachea so it doesnt collapse when eating large meals.
    >Felines have an extra eyelid to shield their eye when needed.
So if I had a heart-type organ coming off my main stomach that pumped methane (farts) into another "stomach" for storage at 2.32 psi that could then be vented through my esophagus past an electrically charged tongue that acts as a Jacob's ladder for an ignition source..... im now breathing fire and even have blast shields to protect my eyeballs.

    Check my math.
    >>
    >>5171576
I wonder how big those lizards could get while still being able to glide

    >modern dragons are no bigger than owls

    >>
    >>5170734
Which ones? Because if we get all of them with a common ancestor that'd be my jam... We have so many dragon myths none of them are the same, from hexapedes, half siren and drake, tank turtle with lion manes and a flat face, snakes with a lion like body. Fire serpents with wings, very long chimeras with fish scales. Including ghost devil wyverns who appear as horses to tale you away. I fucking love dragons. All of them fucked up creatures.

As someone really into old historical dragons, I personally dislike these classifications heavily as the words they use often isn't representative of the design people use them for, flimsy at best. Useful for fandoms, but missing the point entirely imo. Neat artworks though that I can't deny.
