If you somehow ended up in a tiger enclosure I think your only option would be to draw attention to yourself and try to be rescued, in the hopes that the keepers would lead the tiger away to its holding pen. Otherwise you'd have to hope you could hide or climb something that the tiger couldn't reach but it would be unlikely since a tiger enclosure realistically would be designed to be accessible to a tiger. Tigers are intelligent predators that do not have as clear of a trigger as many other big cats (turning backs, running, locking eyes or avoiding eyes, etc). Any combination of those can suffice, or just looking like it could get done. The usual instructions are the same with lions, stand tall, make some noise, not too much, but enough to let them know you aren't stalking, look toward them, and if you lock eyes, do not look away. This seems to work well with lions, I've seen a couple of guides do it and the lion clearly was honed in on them, but they never moved from where they were. For some reason I feel it would be much more of a toss of the coin with a tiger.
I don't know of any big cat that you should actively try to engage to discourage from attacking you. Don't ever charge a cat, it can swipe at you from where its standing much faster than you can react, if a cat is already coming on you your hopes are to choke it on your arm (same basic self-defense move as with dogs, feed them the arm, grab onto the head, then squeeze like hell and hope the cat chokes before it chews on your bone or guts you) or grab something to wave around. Choking a tiger... good fucking luck. But, every decade or so a story of one tribal dude in Africa having managed to choke a lion that way pops up, so, you know... might as well try something.
The only big cat that's more of an automatic game over is a jag, and that's because there's no trigger to a jag's aggression, if it knows you are there it'll look for a way to kill you, locking eyes, backing away, standing firm, none of it changes anything whatsoever.

You might not be fighting a fully grown big cat, and the big cat in question may be something more manageable.
But its not purely a neck choke either, ideally you want to choke on the neck while you shove your arm sideways into their gullet, so opening up their jaw, really. Most dogs other than a Husky or a pitbull will choke within 30 seconds, not sure how long it takes to choke a big cat.
I doubt anyone successfully choked an large alpha male lion, but juveniles and smaller females, there was one in the news not even 2 years ago.
Point is, fight, do something, act. If the cat jumps on you its too fucking late for "how should I ideally react in this case?", just try something, 99.99% chances are you are dead, but again, retard strength is a real thing, and we know of at least two men who have killed grizzly bears unarmed.

Your point only makes sense in two cases: 1) if it was a choice between a tiger and a human, and 2) the tiger had consumed the guy.

In regard to the first, it was not and is not a choice between either one. He is already dead and euthanising the tiger doesn't change that, and the incident happened too quickly for them to have responded by killing the tiger before it killed the man. Killing it after the fact is an example of bolting the stable door after the horse has bolted.

On the second point, there has been nothing to suggest that it ate him except for hysterical faggots online assuming as such because "MUH man-eating tiger!". As has been said in this thread and others: tigers don't normally eat humans, it is uncommon for tigers to consume a human after killing one, most attacks are territorial or the result of surprising one and where the attack humans for food it is usually sick or wounded tigers that cannot prey on its normal food sources.

If it had eaten him I suspect they would euthanise, as it might "get the taste" and make keepers jobs harder, but it is a dangerous wild animal anyway that would automatically kill humans for invading its territory, that fact hasn't changed.
