Japanese Spitz edition. Japanese Spitz are basically anime dogs, except real. If you prefer any other breed, you're doing it wrong.

I cannot own a dog right now due to my job.

I'd like to learn dog training, specifically how to handle guard dogs or using scent hounds for tracking and such.

Can you work properly with them for those purposes if you aren't their owner and you don't live with them?

The eggs are in boiled radish and carrot brine. Dogs love the fart flavor of boil radish and the they like carrots.
I'm thinking of using quail eggs an anis seed next time. Less sodium, and anis seed is dog catnip.

Keeping a blue merle, all but one of the rest have homes ready for them in six to seven weeks. Unplanned litter but I have had people asking me to breed the father since forever and they were spoken for by good owners right away, so i didn't abort.

He's pretty shy. My first BC was a black and white named Cooper so I've been calling him JC for Junior Cooper, and trying to inundate him with deus ex one liners.

The most spunky is one of the red merles. He's fat because he will shove the others out of the way to get at a tit, and he screams loudly if you bother him or interrupt him. He's such a bastard at two and a half weeks old, I love it. BCs have such strong personalities. The sire of this litter is super chill and cuddly and the bitch is... kind of a bitch, but also super cuddly when she isn't being demanding. I can't wait to see how they develop- they're already starting to show bits and pieces. The female blue merle is by far the most curious, the black and white likes to be held the most, the tricolor is kind of passive, and fatty is an asshole.

    Did I kill my dog?

I had to put my dog down last week due to severe kidney disease. I googled what causes the disease and one of the causes was exposure to chemicals such as floor cleaner. I am often washing my floors and I tried to keep my dog away when the floors are wet but he often manages to get onto them and then would jump up onto a chair and start licking his paws, and I only notice when it's too late.

    >>
    >>5166584
It was probably age. MY dog is on its way out because she has a soggy artery. I'm just making her remaining years the best possible with whatever the meds can do..
    >>
    >>5166584
He was 15. Two particular causes popped out to me, the floor cleaner I mentioned and an infection via tooth decay, which can also be my fault because I didn't brush his teeth often enough.

I'm basically blaming myself for my dog's death.
    >>
    >>5166655
I mean everything has to die someday, if they don't die of one thing it's another. And sometimes organs just go bad for no discernible reason. I wouldn't try so hard to pinpoint a specific cause man, it's probably not your fault at all, sometimes stuff just happens and there's nothing we can do about it.
    >>
    >>5166655

    Bro, he was 15.

Kidney disease is apparently the #2 killer of dogs anyway and most people don't even catch it before it can be somewhat mitigated. Even if you do it normally just means delaying the inevitable a year or two. It could have been anything or nothing.

Happy puppies doing happy puppy things as we begin weaning. Soaked kibble in milk replacer. I have to leave a lot because mama dog comes in and cleans the plate when she comes back from taking a break.

The pups will be 4 weeks old on friday and are doing great. Weaning has gone excellently over the past several days. The mother still nurses but the pups are much less demanding and took to the moist kibble and chopped up canned puppy food immediately.
    >>
    >>5168200
    Did you try dog milk?
    >>
    >>5168205

Well, yeah, dog milk replacer. She's still nursing fine, but there is no reason not to start transitioning them to normal puppy food. Soaking kibble makes it easier for them and they're also learning to lap up fluids. That said, they're pretty sharp. They figured it out right away.

    >>5168615
    Yea
    >>
    >>5168615

    >>
    >>5168615
Objectively, yes - but it depends on the cat and dog. If you have a skittish cat that bolts when seeing a dog instead of standing its ground and a dog with a high prey drive, life will be bad for both of them and it only takes a second for a dog to break a cat's neck.
It's easier with a puppy but you basically have to traumatize the puppy by letting your cat scratch the shit out of them so they learn not to mess with the cat. And it's easier with dogs that are of a gentle, less predatory nature, like labs and beagles.

Yes. It's unnatural. It only sort of works with an unnatural dog and an unnatural cat.

The smarter, more natural dogs like huskies can't even be bullied into thinking the cat is a peer because they can clearly see they're weak, small, and non-canine. I have seen a husky on the run encounter a stubborn cat that thought it could stand its ground. The husky just wave dashed to the side and then rocketed forward nab the cat like it was playing an action JRPG.
    >CRITICAL!
    >+100EXP
You could almost hear the japanese yelling and almost see the light trail effects.

But if you got a very unnatural dog like a lazy, drooling monster and an unnatural retarded cat like a persian or a ragdoll it could work.
But then your dog would be kind of gross and your cat would be extra retarded.

I stopped actively seeking out online puppy groups but still get inundated with suggested posts from every platform and they're such depressing places. They're mostly middle-aged women and alpha bros who all want to argue in their echo chambers about how they know the one and only correct way to raise a dog while lamenting that they're miserable because none of it is working.
    >My 12 week old puppy is too mouthy!
    >My 12 week old puppy keeps having accidents inside the house!
    >My 15 week old puppy keeps attacking me! I randomly flip her on her back and pin her down to establish dominance throughout the day but she won't submit, she just freaks out and starts biting!!!!!
    >You NEED to keep a dog in a cage it can barely turn around in at every moment you aren't actively engaging with it.
    >Withhold water after 5pm so they won't pee by accident.
    >Withhold food so they're always hungry and value treats more.
    >Never use puppy pads, you literally can not ever stop using them it will NOT work.
    >A dog should be so terrified of you that they never react to anything!!!

I'm still not convinced that this little shit is some kind of messianic perfect dog of utmost virtue. He just cold-turkey aged out of puppy behaviours at the appropriate weeks/months. He's not perfect, but he's not a destructive, aggressive, greedy little monster like these places all make out he should be.

I've never had a problem with working types or "lap dogs" like Maltese, Shih Tzu, Pug, etc bonding with family cats. I wouldn't try to put a Terrier or Greyhound or something with a cat 'just in case' because their entire schtick is a high prey drive for small, fast moving animals, but I've also literally never known a dog that was raised from a young age around cats to suddenly freak out and attack cats.

Everyone is too busy being outside with their dog to post dog pics online. Thankfully I found a brief respite to share this cute pic of my dog. This dude weighs 135lbs and is nearly 6 feet tall on his hindlegs.
    >>
My jeet neighbours threw a tinfoil ball into my backyard where my dog was chewing on it. What do?
    >>
    >>5170085
Did your dog swallow it? If not I wouldn't worry that much about it unless it's an ongoing thing. Maybe monitor the dog for signs of poisoning from garlic or whatever if there's food residue on it but I doubt the small bit they'd get from that exposure would hurt them that much.

Long term, if it's practical maybe see if you can get a camera pointing in that direction, if you can record them doing it again you can probably report them to authorities and get them fined or something. Hard to do much now when it's just your word against theirs.

Sometimes I like to lightly bite my dog. Especially when I'm feeling her meaty legs, when I see her muscles bulge, or feel the give of her neck scruff in my hands. I chew the tips of her nails, I feel the texture of her fur on my tongue, I leave my saliva on her muzzle, and I go in for a big soft chomp of her hamstrings or biceps. One day very very far away from now, when she has passed I actually do want to swallow a chunk. Is this wrong?
    >>
    >>5170294
The thought isn't necessarily wrong. Acting on it is legitimately insane psycho tier behavior.
Raise a meat rabbit or a few chickens and kill/eat those. It will taste better than a 10+ year old dog and you won't be cutting chunks of flesh out of your just deceased best friend.
    >>
    >>5170294

This is unimportant but my dog understands animals and "humans" or "dogs". I realize I may be anthropomorphizing her, but she tilts her head away when I ask her if she's a squirrel, deer, coyote, but when I ask her are you a dog, are you a human she gets excited and licks my hand. She also gets frustrated when I keep asking if she's something else. She definitely in other contexts will look for an animal I talk about or get more excited if I mention certain animals, as well. Is it bad to keep a husky if you live somewhere with hot summers? I've seen differing opinions from some saying it's basically animal abuse and others saying it's ok if you manage it carefully
    >>
    >>5170574
Myth. A standard husky coat (not a wooly) is literally the default for wild canids and is the closest thing nature produced to an "all weather" coat for them. This biologically consists of longer guard hairs that protect against water, wind, dirt, sun, plant seeds like burrs, and then there is another wooly undercoat close to the skin that insultes their own warmth during winter but ALSO keeps their skin away from heat and thus cooler.
But you see, DOGS IN GENERAL struggle in hotter climates due to other factors - like only sweating through paw pads (which have to contact scorching asphalt on hot days), and relying on panting to cool down, which simply doesn't work effectively once the ambient temperature increases past a certain point.
So basically, if someone is calling you a dog abuser for walking a husky on a hot day, let them know that if it's dog abuse for a husky, it's dog abuse for any dog.

Not a vet, but when I had a dog as a kid, as she got older, she got lumps like this. If they are hindering movement or causing distress, they can be removed, otherwise they are just an "old dog" thing.

I will never get another dog that doesn't have a normal dog tail again.

did yours have a docked/corkscrew tail or what?

when I walk my dog (on leash) he gets aggressive towards other intact males quite often. He'll lunge and bark and shit, at least the fucker is small enough that I can just lift him and take him away. It's fucking annoying though. Anyone have any tips, something that doesn't boil down to
    >watch a dog from 3 miles away and reward your dog for disengaging, then try 2.9999 miles then 2.9998 miles etc.
    ?
As I've seen zero improvement doing that cumbersome time-wasting nonsense. He's a stubborn fucking wiener dog.
This shit doesn't work unless I hold a grilled fucking salmon in front of him (in theory, obviously I don't do that), which he gobbles up then proceeds to obsessively stare at the enemy dog.
I try to avoid other people walking dogs, but that's not always feasible e.g. when someone comes walking around the corner you're approaching.
As a test I've had him chemically castrated hoping it improves, but don't see any change yet.

I fear it's on-leash anxiety. I've never seen him be aggressive off-leash. He doesn't even defend himself when he's done playing, he just runs way and hopes the other dog leave him alone.

I grew with an American Eskimo dog. Very hyperactive type, but fun. I miss him

She's digging out a new home for herself. If you touch her or even get near she barks and growls. It's pretty funny.

What in the hell did you do to get banned from the dog hole?

Don't use /an/ so thought I'd ask in the general.

Got three problem dogs. Sort of needed by owners who can't look after them, un-homable.

    1. Malamut, albino, schizophrenic, highly aggressive, erratic behaviour, currently perma-caged. Owner thinks its valuable but can't sell it because it's visible deranged and a total liability. Inbred. If it were my dog I'd just shoot it, it's seriously unwell, suffering in captivity.
    2. Malamut cross, don't know with what but it's got unusually wide paws, jumps from the front legs, very intelligent but not trained and very high activity, very hard to contain.
    3. A lab which is morbidly obese and will eat literally anything. Eats things which aren't even vaguely edible.

I do believe "ask" implies there's going to be a question involved, anon

    Cute!
The fire department borrowed my dogs to help pass out candy. They're just as tired from the stimulation as they are a 5k run.

I heard Dalmatians were associated with firefighters because (before the automobile) they had a weird affinity for horses and they’d keep the horses company. Is that true?

    Sure.
Dalmatians were coach dogs long before horse drawn fire fighting equipment, so they took to it naturally.
