Ultimate didn't hold up for me since episode 1.
The TV anime is so much better, even with it's shitty fucking ending.

I rewatched it recently and I agree.
There's a lot of 90-00 edge that might not be for everyone, but that's part of the fun.

Last episode is the weakest though.
It's filled with endless monologues about moral superiority, which gets really annoying.

Abridged is better, Ultimate tries too hard.

i must disagree despite loving both version but the whole "detective"/mistery" vibe the 2001 version has some charm int it PLUS the soundtrack peak althoght it might not count

Perfect anime to watch leading up to Halloween. Ultimate’s soundtrack goes hard AF, plus had no idea they guy who did “One Million Bullets” did the soundtrack for Phantom Blood of the JoJo anime

I don't care for Alucard, I think Seras should have been the focus

Japan is doing a theatrical marathon screening of Ultimate next month. Also there's some new merch, but it's just manga panels printed on random crap so nothing special. The thing that actually looks cool is a collection of Hirano's rough sketches, but it's event sales only.
