What killed the classic female otaku stereotype? Be they a fujoshi or not? Why is it you don't see the shojo loving bright color like fan girl? the type that loves Hetalia and all that? The girls you likely talked to in school but thought was too cringe to try to date or something but regret later also you watch completely different shows. Like you rarely see these type of female fans now, is it because shojo anime mostly dead and shojo manga niche in the west vs the 2000's most manga we got was shojo because they realized they could tap the female market comics were missing. It's just weird how they all started to disappear vs it use to be like they were everywhere and even making their own ''OEL'' ''manga''. Most female fans now just watch whatever men are watching and there's no real split or they're just egirls lying, so what happened to all the skinny and fat chicks with normal or butterfaces who loved anime and would ''geek out''?
    >>
    >>291989044
    internet monopolisation probably killed them
    >>
    >>291989044
Society in general is much more vulgar now, especially in the west.
    >>
    >>291989044
I still know people like this both irl and as internet personalities.
    >>
    >>291989044
    Those ones grew up
The current younger generations, male or female, have changed a great deal from previous ones in many ways, due to internet, culture, and other factors.

Honestly, the use of the internet becoming more mainstream and social media in general, has wrought terrible consequences on all people.
    >>
    >>291989044
Most female otakus shifted to k-shit in the 10s. Ironically feminists stayed despite anime hate women
    >>
The otaku is dead regardless of gender.
Barely anyone actually watches anime these days anon, everyone watches clips on TikTok and obviously those people don't create or care about culture. "Larping" is not just an e-girl thing, it is simply how people interact with art now and that does not breed genuine obsession and love for the art.
    >>
    >>291989044
Shoujo got headhunted by shounen while whats left went from emo/goth edge into only vanilla romance, probably in an effort to convince women to procreate. Rather than that, it just made them more insular and hidden away.
Online politics ripped a part a good chunk of the rest. Its not right to be a woman into anime, a woman who likes hetalia isn't a woman, etc.
    >>
    >>291989044
    Female Otaku became unlikable kpopsisters
    >>
    >>291989044
They got propagandized into dropping all sweet innocence and becoming bitter, hateful people pretty much the instant the 2010s started. K-Pop culture, Tumblr and so on are obvious culprits, but even we have some blame in it due to how we bashed Gaiafaggotry and created cringe culture, which isn't all that different from women getting "the ick" when you think about it.
    >>
    >>291989044
Like with anything, the internet becoming easily available and social media companies and those seeking to profit from the internet.
    >>
    >>291990794
Its less propagandized, though there are obviously plenty of that in various spaces, and more just the increasingly nihilistic society we live in.

    >>291992042
Social media is genuinely a blight on the world and has done untold damage to the minds of millions.
    >>
    >>291990326
this lol. op confuses normalfags watching the season's biggest hits as being otaku both because it's not babby shounen (as >>291989161 said the jap race's degeneracy is now socially accepted) and because real otakus don't exist anymore making it hard to contrast normalfags against one.
there is no subculture anymore. subculture is now culture, and npcs can't do good culture, they can only consume it. reading about japshit and posting badly drawn scribbles on DA is no longer a hobby, it's what you do to blend in with the cool kid's discord server.
    >>
    >>291992354
Don't forget that those people still look down on the idea of those people that do come close to the idea of being what an otaku was, so just having a similar consumption patter isn't even a point of connection either.
    >>
    >>291992335
It will take generations to undo the damage social media and AI will do. Assuming we don't wipe ourselves out first thanks to them.
    >>
    >>291992042
You're scapegoating social media when this all comes down to the propaganda they are fed in schools and on tv.
    >>
They moved on to Steven Universe and Amazing Digital Circus
    >>
    >>291992354
    >the jap race's degeneracy is now socially accepted
...until you show them a loli (like that one from akiba wearing a beach outfit)
    >>
    >>291996250
in pretty much everywhere but the west loli is still well received. in east asia the foids receive it well because they look neotenous to begin with, they even consider it a benefit because their greatest strength smv-wise is not looking good but looking young.
    >>
Women just follows fads and fomo into whatever is popular. That's why KnY and JJK blew up. It wasn't 13 year old boys buying all the merch and going to see the movies multiple times in theaters. It was 30 year old fujoshits. Women anime fans just watch what the guys watch but they ship the male characters. That's why modern jump is dead because nothing in jump currently has good fujobait.
    >>
    >>291992672
it's because the death of every other form of entertainment (tied to the death of culture in the west in general) meant anime somehow became the last man standing. they don't appreciate how the genre appeals to its niche but it's good enough fodder for building vain rapport with friends to kill time.
    >>
    >>291989044
being an otaku / weeb / fujoshi / anyfuckingthing is dead because anime got to mainstream for its own good. The community you grew up in has been colonized and there little to no spaces for us that will ever pop up again
    >>
    >>291989044
got popular and died just like any subculture before it. might as well ask where all the mods and punks are
    >>
Uhh have you seen the front-page of an average manga aggregator site? It's obvious women use these more than men.
Comix is completely unusable unless you filter all the smut
    >>
Social media has pretty much entirely consumed their brains and turned them into 3 or 4 different 'kinds' of girl, one of which is the egirl and that has replaced all previous kinds of nerd AND 'alt' girls. The other kinds are still IRL pink trashy Stacy and rural/horse girl, the last kind the the low IQ landwhale.
    >>
    >>291990794
There was nothing wrong with shitty on Gaia. It was full of the worst kinds of weeaboo cringelord, ADHD ridden motherfuckers. I miss them, since their like is not in the world today; but they were still real faggots. The kid 20 years ago with a naruto headband at school was and is still a faggot.
    >>
    >>291996010
The education propaganda system is part of it, but TV is basically irrelevant now unless you mean streaming services. But gen A probably doesn't even watch that as much as we watched cable, they're ticktok exclusive.
    >>
    >>291996010
Nah, social media is way worse than what you're blaming. Interacting with others on social media is way more damaging that what you think. The feedback loop has greater effect than those things.
    >>
    >>291996777
You're not an online reading normalfag, are you?
    >>
    >>291996010
Yeah dude, all that anti-anime propaganda out there. Totally.
    >>
    >>291996312
    >follow fads and fomo
Do you think men don't do this too.
