>>291980296>>291980336Ok that's a surprisingly profound motivation for Manabe to want to preside StL. He believes that species or social groups change to survive, and that Tatsuki believed that as well, and he wants to help Tatsuki's group survive. Maybe out of gratitude to Tatsuki who took in Manabe's group, or just because Tatsuki left an impression on Manabe.

>>291980711>>291980742>>291980961This right fucking here is one of the many, MANY reasons why Sako Toshio is my favourite writer & Usogui my favourite work of fiction. He intentionally left Kadokuras true philosophy up in the air even while Sako went into great detail about Nanpous. Ergo, the only way to glean Yuudais personal set of values was to infer it from how he contrasts Nanpous, which was made extra poignant by the fact that it was so bizarre. Not only does Nanpous philosophy triumph over Kadokuras, it even manages to only do so initially, with Kadokuras philosophy not only triumphing right after, but continuing to do so into the present day. Sako managed to set up such an intriguing puzzle about a major character detail while fitting it seamlessly into the narrative, only to BUILD A REVERSE CHARACTER ARC UPON THAT PUZZLE, combining the reveal with said arcs greatest beat, all while making it a callback to the last time such a character-defining moment happened in his life. Holy fucking LUDOKINO

>>291981348Oh nice this is a repeat of Yakou vs Tatsuki except the positions are switched
>>291981386According to Manabe's philosophy, Tatsuki won bigly.Memes... the DNA of the soul.
>>291981111 (me)And this is without even getting into the revelation of how the delinquents dynamic truly works. Nanpou believes that everyone has their rightful place and that all their efforts bring them closer to arriving at their destined spot in the grand scheme of things, while Kadokura believes that people struggle against those stronger than themselves only to usurp and surpass them as the new stronger party. Both philosophies are simple, but so incompatible that they have no recourse to clash against each other (the whole men being simple yet inscrutable creatures narration by everyones favourite announcer, The Hawk). Nanpou won initially because he had greater drive to pursue the spot of top dog in their towns underworld. However, because Kadokura acknowledges his own weakness, he's able to recover and declare his desire to move on to even greater heights, which pisses Nanpou off as it's in direct violation of his own philosophy, a gear that resists its rightful place. So he tries to play off Kadokuras second wind as nothing more than a shitty attempt to save face after taking a dive, only for his excuse to blow up in his face once Kadokura lands the confrontations final knockout blow, which then perfectly transitions back to the present Labyrinth gamble to reaffirm Kadokuras surpassing of Nanpou, which ALSO perfectly concludes the concurrent flashback & rematch sequences, which also contained not one, but TWO double subversions of Sakos presentation (the narration of "that was when I should've finished you" applying to BOTH fighters instead of just one, and that their previous conflict wasn't a clean "I win, you lose" confrontation). It's nothing short of pure genius, just absolutely masterful writing, an 11/10 job that couldn't have been done better if he tried. God I love this manga so much
I really like how tatsuki still plays a "big" role in Kakerou and some referees even though he had so little screen time for us.Im totally not biased because he is my favorite one btw.

>>291979124I wonder... Where is judge in all of this? He never once did referee shit
>>291981840>>291982091I've said this earlier during the storytime (hidden behind spoilers), but this is one of the biggest payoffs I've ever seen and really solidifies Sako as a guy who's able to patiently build something up for maximum impact when the right time arrives. On my first read, many years ago, the "Kyara corpse never getting buried" gimmick really bothered me, to the point it nearly soured my experience reading Protoporos. Regardless of how the characters addressed it or made interesting points about how humans react to decay, it still felt disrespectful to the character that his rotten corpse was being used to convey Sako's own musings on the subject through his characters. It felt a little too "experimental" and tone deaf for my liking, especially compared to how Tatsuki's death was handled previously. Then this moment comes and...... damn. Everything feels instantly justified. It fits so damn well. It's like Kyara's ghost moment during Air Poker, but even more intense and extreme, as you can feel him helping Baku to the bitter end with every ounce of his very being. One more amazing moment in a story that is already packed with them.
>>291988004lol>>291988084At least, to me it gets better every time as I notice new things each time, like I feel like I understand Manabe as a character now. With so many referees, Sako did a good job of distinguishing them. Everyone had their own gimmick.
>>291988944kind of a crazy feat considering their designs are also incredibly unique. Most of the time mangakas either make them all sameface with diff gimmicks or varied designs with similar gimmicks. Sako somehow has never made a character who looked similar enough to another to be mistaken. Closest he got is I think making about 90% of his villain cast blonde. What a beast of an author man.

>>291982091Kyara is the best Usogui character.
>>291981951>Middle panelKoreabros don't look!
>>291989612Doesn't matter. Kyara didn't put his thumb on the scale, he gave them both the same test and Yakou passed.
>>291982173>>291982383I like the implication that the reason Yakou ultimately won is because he was able to push through his impression of Kyara as the strongest while Kadokura faltered. It ties in well to what Baku said earlier about how he wants only the person who "believes themself the most suitible to preside the match" to win, Kadokura ultimately couldn't shake the idea that Kyara would have been the most suitable.
>>291990256If Yakou had the advantage at that moment, Kyara would just keep napping. You're trying too hard to impose your view when Baku at this point is clearly more important to Kyara than Kakerou itself, as per the fucking story.
>>291982091A lot of people were saying previously that it felt disrespectful that everyone just left Kyara's corpse to rot, but to me it weirdly felt more reverential. Like they had so much respect for Kyara's raw strength that they'd never dare disturb his final resting place. This pents really cements that, that impression that everyone was too afraid that he'd get up and beat the shit out of them for disturbing his nap if they tried.
>>291981586
>>291990642People complaining about his corpse just remaining there was disrespectful was stupid to begin with. Everyone paid their respects to him. Plus, Kyara did live most of his life as an animal, him rotting away is just part of nature. In the end it doesn’t matter if you rot away, everyone is mortal. Like Manabe said, what matters is the impact you left. Everyone bowed to him and saw him as the strongest zero even over the former fucking leader Tatsuki
>>291990532>You're trying too hard to impose your viewWe both are, my view is just more consistent with the characters. Kyara didn't actually do anything, he's dead. His "appearance" is both referees, upon seeing his corpse and remembering his will, asking themselves if they really believe they're who should oversee the match. Kadokura hesitated, Yakou didn't.
>>291990846>Kyara didn't actually do anythingSorry, my view is just more consistent with how ghosts have been portrayed in this story. Tell me this: who was hallucinating Tatsuki monologuing inside his own coffin?
>>291979808This is proof that Manabe and Tatsuki (and by extension Yakou, Kyara and Jonglyo) are stronger than Marco and Billy
>>291990791Lmao

>>291990941Manabe is snoozing with auto-counter on btw
>>291990791Needs better dialogue, but the idea is good
>>291991119Yes, it is. Again though: Kyara is dead. There's a whole speech Manabe gave about how important the "seeds" he left behind were, and those most explicitly manifest here >>291982136 . It's not Kyara helping Baku from beyond the grave, it's both referees being reminded of and being forced to face the Kyara in their mind. I don't think it's a complicated idea at all.>Sorry, my view is just more consistent with how ghosts have been portrayed in this story. There aren't any literal ghosts in the story. I feel like I've said the same thing three times now though, so I'll give up.

>>291991435Yeah, I just traced over the original
>>291982590No matter who the opponent is, he is the one who kills!
>>291981386I like to think that Yakou already tacitly acknowledged unpunished Kadokura since he showed up in the nightmare>that boy Kadokura put up his pomp huh>I'd better keep my ass comatose>or im FINISHED
>>291985800He spotted Yakous sleight of hand trick with the handkerchiefs before anyone else, deduced Yakous plan from it, then successfully prevented Midara from third-partying Kadokura. This not only stopped Midara from getting the majority of handkerchiefs & hiding away, but allowed Kadokura to claim the majority without having the right to win, thereby guaranteeing Yakou has a chance to preside over Surpassing the Leader
>>291991509There are plenty of manga that flirt with supernatural concepts while making it very clear to the reader that every single instance of it happening is just somebody's delusion or mental projection, since "ghosts are not real" in the author's vision for that universe. Usogui is just not a good example of this kind of writing, because the supernatural elements are depicted with the subtlety of a baseball bat hitting someone in the face. What a fucking strange coincidence that after Yakou hallucinated Kyara as a result of his own inner thoughts (at the exact same time Kadokura had his own coincidental crisis of insecurity, as well!), he then looks at the corpse, hallucinates a confident smile, then the seating corpse, right at that moment and not a minute sooner, CRUMBLES, as if (as if, I say!) it had completed an important task and now could finally rest. Then Yakou, this silly old man, thinks "This win was given to me... by him." instead of thinking "I finally surpassed it... the image of Kyara I had in my mind" or other variation of materialistic, purely psychological conclusion. Dunno, man, I think you already lost your train of thought when you started by asserting a different reason for Kyara to jump in, then got pressed and settled for "Kyara is dead lol". Your arguments went all over the place, while my view is consistent with Baku "hallucinating" Kyara saving him during Air Poker, and then Sako showed us Lalo thinking "This world is full of mysteries..." while Kyara's shadow was literally hovering behind him. I also noticed that you didn't answer my question about Tatsuki's ghost, I wonder why.
>>291991509>There aren't any literal ghosts in the storyare you referring to the story that has a flashback narrated by a literal dead eagle
