The only reason Romelia was engaged to and accompanied Henri was because of her family and her political obligations. Henri also fell in love with Elisabeth very early on during their journey. Henri's internal monologues hint at jealousy/contempt towards Romelia's leadership skills. Romelia herself gets annoyed when the nobility talks behind her back accusing her of being a non-virgin in the earlier chapters, something which she proves false during one of her monologues in like chapter 225 or something.

Why did the corrupt garrison leader get the report of Romelia's squad being MIA, again? The timeline so far went something like>squad moves out to scout out and eliminate demon bear>squad encounters demon scout instead>squad retreats after the revelation that there are in fact five demon scouts>squad prepares and successfully executes countermeasures against demon scoutsThe last three points all happened in the span of one day. From a purely time focused view point, this shouldn't warrant any fear of the squad having been killed in action. Did I miss anything?
