The villain is right, the protagonist has no counterargument beyond idealist nonsense, why this shit was so common in japanese anime and video games from the 2000s.

>>291972818The Anti-Spiral made the world constantly miserable because of a vague possibility instead of just solving the possibility without making the world miserable. It's like saying you can't let someone walk because they could hypothetically kick someone in the dick with their legs.

The counterargument is that life in a hole is worse than death.Of course NPCs wouldn't mind but people with free will can't accept it.

>>291973659>insultsI havent insulted anyone, though. Calling an argument stupid is not an insult. Because it is true. >Explain why you think the Anti-Spiral wasn't overreacting and plunging people into severe, unwarranted suffering.I will do no such, thing, because I have already stated that such duality of thinking is wrong.
The series copped out, and Simon should have used Spiral energy to resurrect Nia, regardless of the consequences—given that, in any case, Simon has no real solution for the Spiral Nemesis, and the Anti-Spiral was right.
The anti-spiral's curse is simply existing. His people have effectively become god. He might have sealed themselves up yet remains in an overly emotional state, judging everything pre-emptively.At least he didn't destroy earth but set up barriers from beastmen-genome-moon-galaxy to keep from going out of control.Spiral people do actually evolve at an unprecedented rate. Like Boota turning into a beastman. He's far from the best of villains but compelling enough to get the action flowing. He's death in a galaxy exploding with life.
>>291973897>given that, in any case, Simon has no real solution for the Spiral Nemesis, and the Anti-Spiral was right.Well is the solution to that, TRIGGER is literally telling you that Genome was right about everything and slow and steady advancment of humanity is only way forward. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RvuK5KyWBGg
>>291973861You called the arguments dumb, an insult, and refuse to explain why you think this is a matter of two extremes as opposed to the Anti-Spiral severely overreacting. You sound like a coward.
>>291974546No,I called the argument dumb. If you feel insulted by that, that is on you. And I am averse to explanation because I have been through this 1000 times already and people still refuse to listen. And anyway, I have already explained it here. >>291973920
>>291972818Yes, spiral power will end the universe. So what?
>>291972818>why this shit was so common in japanese anime and video games from the 2000s.Why are you third worlders incapable of formulating proper questions?
>>291972818>why this shit was so common TTGL was extra retarded.
There was always a way to progress without progressing too much, too fast. The Anti-Spirals were so paranoid that progress on a universal scale would end the universe that they basically made life as miserable as possible for all civilizations in the cosmos- but spiral power is bred through adversity and overcoming adversity. Essentially, by setting up a giant ladder of challenges for Spiral races to overcome, they set up a giant acceleration cannon that would propel a Spiral race through so much advancement so fast that they would inevitably reach them and defeat them. If they had simply created a comfortable and happy life for all civilizations, no one would feel any pressure to advance or improve themselves. Whether the Anti-Spiral were right or wrong about the Spiral Nemesis theory is immaterial; ultimately, they misunderstood the nature of Spiral Power itself and thought they could keep a lid on it but all they did was accelerate its rise to supremacy, increasing the total Spiral Power in the universe and accelerating the Spiral Nemesis, if indeed that theory of annihilation is correct. In short, yes, the Anti-Spirals were stupid and wrong.

>>291974546NTA but calling an argument dumb isn't an insult, whereas calling the poster / whoever made the argument dumb -is- an insult. If I said the anti spiral is a bad villain because my dog was scared when he was on screen, that's a dumb argument. Dumb statements can be made by smart or dumb people.

>>291972860>You are villain, I'm real heroproof?

I know you got through the bad times before but this will be different because look just trust me okay.>AAARGH MY DRILLS WILL PIERCE THE HEAVENS>Wow you're being unreasonable right now. Guess you've got some growing up to do.>ROW ROW I AM SILLY The protagonists of the "do the impossible" anime really should have listened to universal embodiment of nihilism. Truly strange how media used to have inspiring messages and wasn't telling us to give up on life.
>>291975721But he did. That's why he let Nia die. He was willing to sacrifice Nia but not humanity. It was a story of compromise.
>>291975721The movies do a better job of characterizing the Anti-Spirals. They're not le heckin b-based nihilists, they don't know everything, they're not some kind of intangible depressive truth hanging over everyone's heads. They're just people. When Simon jumps out of Lagann and just starts punching one of them, the Anti-Spiral punches back and starts becoming increasingly unhinged like Simon is. In the chaos of the fistfight, it becomes hard to tell the difference between them. In the end they're the same, they're both hot-blooded warriors who refuse to back down and will fight to the end for their beliefs. They just chose different paths. >STANDING HERE
>>291975752Lordgenome already did the whole "bring back your lost waifu" scheme, it was a nightmarish operation of cloning and genetic engineering that had one good result, Nia. Except Nia, the only one to develop free will, wasn't what Lordgenome wanted, so he threw her out. Simon isn't a retard and he knows that if he wants to recreate Nia without her Anti-Spiral genes, she would neither A) be the Nia he loved, and B) it would be the most inhuman program of genetic tinkering on Earth. Even if he successfully rebuilt her, he would have to deny her free will to be herself - he would force her to be HIS Nia, not the new Nia that was born.
>>291974620>No,I called the argument dumb. If you feel insulted by that, that is on you. And I am averse to explanation because I have been through this 1000 times already and people still refuse to listen. It's an insult to the post nonetheless, and why are you in here bitching about people's posts while refusing to explain your own view? We're all anonymous here, there's nothing to search for in the archive to find your "enlightened" perspective. People don't psychically know what you wrote before.
>>291976501I fucking kneel in front of your retardation, still going about it and ignoring that I already told you that I have explained it here >>291973920
And this is a fucking insult, mind you, now.
>>291976563You took several posts to get to that and acted like people should have already known your specific posts from some prior thread. If you actually wanted to just get to the point you'd have linked it in this >>291973376 . Also, my original post was about how the Anti-Spiral's methods were severely disproportionate and that it never sought a non-extreme option, so how would that be a "dumb argument" at odds with a slow and steady advancement of humanity? Making existence hellish for Spiral life forms was a kneejerk, unwarranted response to the mere fear of the Spiral Nemesis.

>>291972818>idealist nonsenseNo such thing as "nonsense" when the spiral exists. What do you think "do the impossible", "kick reason to the curb" etc. meant?
>>291979042It's from the protagonists perspective and since they're the protags we're supposed to completely ignore the villains' motivations in favor of what the show wants us to root for? Everything else's just coating.
>>291979882I don't know what to tell if you watched all of Gurren Lagann and came to the conclusion that there was anything the protagonists wouldn't be able to do if they wanted it enough. You are simply a retard.
>>291975710Villains are often associated with the act of taking lives. Heroes are the opposite of villains. Therefore, it stands to reason that heroes should give life. Through rape.
>>291972818>"If people become Gods they could destroy everything. Not me, though. I'm allowed to become a God"That is where there argument fell apart. That and how they everyone as basically legless tortured slaves. They had all that power and yet the best they could do is torture everyone? What kind of superior being is so totally and completely lacking in any creativity and imagination? How can anyone trust beings so blatantly lacking in morality as deserving of Godhood? There would be nobody less deserving of it than someone so blatantly cruel, vicious, malevolent and heartless. It was only ever about protecting their own power.
