This is a topic that's been bouncing around my head for a while, is there a specific point of origin/reference for why many manga/anime use this very "spikey spire" design for palaces for the antagonists? It's in Devilman, Gundam, the Blue Knight arc of Astro Boy, this seems like a design motif that's popped up so many times over the years I can't help but think there's a specific real-world thing they're referencing.
>>291968831>It's in DevilmanThere's your answer. Everyone's just referencing it as it simbolizes something malevolent. That's about it.
>>291968831Spikey stuff looks evil it's not complicated
>>291969590and scary
>>291969567Pretty sure I've seen it in media from before the 70s as well, so it isn't copied from Devilman specifically. I think it didn't even originate in Japanese media.
>>291968831Zabi palace was pretty obviously planned to transform into Gihren's super mecha that Amuro and Char would fight against in the scrapped original ending to the showalso what >>291969567 said
>>291969567Really? even reading devilman it feels very out-of-place.
Some vampire stuff
>>291968831Looks cool
>>291970776realistically zeon was only in power for a couple years so that palace was already in place before them. this only leaves sunrise space to write 1048147 side stories about the side 3 architect

Does it count if the villain is also part of the good guys?
