You're supposed to feel bad for Light because the death note ruined his life and turned him into a serial killer with a god complex. You're not supposed to feel satisfied when he's begging not to die at the end of the manga, after you just read a story about a young man with a bright future whose life was ruined thanks to Ryuk.
>>291967027A bright future of killing people to further his own careerHe was a cops son and planned on being a prosecutor.Death Note is a satire on the Japanese public's attitudes towards punitive justice and the death penalty in the face of what an open secret it is about how corrupt the police force and judicial system are
>>291967027>turned him>implying
>>291967341I agree with OP but there is meat to this take. Light would be zealously prosecuting anyone the police charge. Just like he blindly trusts the justice system when he kills "guilty" people.
Why would I feel bad about someone who ruined a lot of other people's lives?I feel satisfied, and I would feel satisfied no matter how many times I consume Death Note.Total Light Death.
>>291968555We had that scene where he killed a guy who was broadcasted as L with reckless abandon. He crossed the threshold pretty quickly.
>>291967341Insufferable
>>291968555We see Light without the Death Note's influence in the Yotsuba arc. He was a good kid. The notebook is what's evil.
>>291967027Oh no! He has to take responsibility for his own decisions. That poor guy just happened to become a serial killer; how can you not empathize with him?!
>>291967027>You're supposed to feel bad for LightUmmmmm no you're not
>>291967027he became a serial killer with a god complex by like chapter 2
