When you think of it like that it's very efficient storytelling, and it even introduced the foundation of everything with Misaki that came later.

If I had to change anything it would have been having her take a more active role in containing the Level 6's berserk state, maybe show some panels of her struggling internally while her body moved and having her trance state last way shorter.
