ITT post some stuff you saved on /a/ a long time ago that you still really like
>>291943392I miss this show

Someone posted a female Kaiji and I edited it
this is making me nostalgic for the Milky Holmes threads but I don't have anything saved
/a/ somehow created the ultimate waifu
>>291942524
>>291943392
>>291943706Based. I used to make Milky Holmes seiyuu threads on the weekends. Too bad that HDD died on me. I remember this picture of Kitta Izumi at Hooters when Milky Holmes was at a convention in murica, good times.

>>291943658female Kaiji shouldn't work as well as it does but the instant you add the tears and zawa she becomes 100% authentic gambling trash. Would ruin her life for 30,000 yen and a can of beer.
>>291943819I'm not sure why the first word I had in mind was Summer.Maybe it's the red car.
>>291943250Ah, love this one. I now hope I can rediscover the "Matoi Ryuko!" image and the gif where the two of them are waving their blades. I forget which of them was just laying on the floor in that one.
>>291943832>>291943804Found it. Fucking page 69 of her ame- wait. Aimi?! I mean, yeah, I know both Milky Holmes and Bang Dream are Bushiroad, but that was a whiplash.

>>291950235I miss these threads.
This board used to be a lot of fun. It's preaching to the choir, since most of this stuff is from like over a decade or more ago and anons are bound to say, "well, actually, it's still fun, you're not browsing the right threads", but it's not the same. /a/ used to be a community and as much as anons hate the term board culture, it was what brought this place together and led to the creation of a lot of this content. There are still a few yearly events that draw in all of the older posters and feel like old times, but it's nothing like what it used to be.
>>291943604It's from 2019./a/ is practically exactly the same as it was in 2019 except a bit dumber and browner. Internet culture has stagnated.
>>291951342Internet culture is still thriving but not on 4chan. This place is almost as slow as it was in 2008 but has to contend with the rest of the internet platforms having expanded hundreds of times over.
>>291951302Browsing this board in the last eight years or so is just boring. People make the same threads, post the same replies, you can click on any thread and basically predict the flow of conversation. It wasn't like that before shonen general spammers started invading this board around 2017.
>>291951302Everyone's turned into a cranky millennial yelling out clouds and zoomers. And they're too busy with their families to make unhinged OC. Bunch of fucking normalfags you turned out to be.
>>291951362There's no culture out there that isn't just normalfag bullshit.
Didn't really save this, but it was brilliant 2 years ago..
>>291944400This is canon now.
>>291951362There are still forums and platforms that are thriving, but they aren't internet culture because they are just isolated islands (by choice). The rest of the internet is a vast shitty sea of corpo propaganda and the bots and human bots who only exist to repeat it ad nausem, like here on 4chan. Everything that isn't serving the divide and conquer either shuts its gates or falls like /a/ did.
>>291943898I have this one
>>291942524season 2 when
>>291951698It’s still culture even if you personally don’t like it or aren’t a part of the communities it comes from. Labeling everything corpo propaganda is the same as 4chan labeling everything it doesn’t like as Reddit.
>>291952193Then go back to Plebdit
>>291952193Corporations and douchebag governments are more online than ever before. This isn't the Wendy's Twitter account trying to be hip with college students, this is genuine propaganda and shareholder sociopathy online now.
>>291951456oldfags either rope or turn into normalfags with kids and wives, if it happened to them it'll happen to you
>>291953370I've managed to avoid both but I also have severe mental illness and collect autism bux.
4chan used to have more OC
Forget the OC for a moment. The OC follows from engagement. As far as I can tell, /a/ has actually "recovered" somewhat, even if it happened through a disruptively massive loss of users. But it still has the problem that it's subdivided into lots of different generals, and a significant portion of its users regard it not as a home, but as an ironic shitposting platform. They are not entirely wrong in this. If a place smells of shit, you're not going to set up camp there.Of course, if they didn't have the attitude, then it wouldn't smell. But any individual one is incapable of affecting the overall culture. And so they go back to discord or wherever. I'm not actually sure that all of them have a place where they can be honest about themselves (outside of their chatbot chats).
>>291954165The lasting stain of the Dark Years seems to be the shounen threads. I cannot deride them too much, I, myself, am a filthy shounen poster nowadays. But god if some of the most radioactive threads I've ever seen here weren't DBZ/Shingeki threads. I think their half life has decayed them to more tolerable states nowadays (Shingeki of course long dead aside from occasional nostalgic shitposter) but I haven't the heart to check in on DBZ that often. Those guys are freaks. At least I haven't seen a dirty toilet bowl head wojak in ages. Small victories.
>>291954165>As far as I can tell, /a/ has actually "recovered" somewhatThis is a ridiculous thing to claim with nothing to substantiate it.
>>291953370I'm built different
>>291954464It's a feeling. Two years ago, I left because it seemed to me that it was almost impossible to have any conversations here, because people didn't care what others had to post.Looking over /a/, it seemed rare to see quote chains longer than 3 posts. Like everybody was more concerned with announcing their attraction or dislike for X than with reading whatever others had to say. Image dumps to keep threads afloat, remake them, repost the same things. It was not a rigorous study. I noticed that it became increasingly difficult to browse the board. Previously, I had always been annoyed with shitposters. But in that period, I was just bored.I tried changing the way I browsed, abandoning the catalog in favor of infinite frontpage. And it worked for about a week. But the problem didn't go away. That's why I left.Modern /a/ still has most of the problems I remember. But it also has people talking to each other again. Or maybe I'm now able to see the posts again.
>>291954749I should probably post an image with that.
I'm having fun, despite the difficulties I find in doing so sometimes. The legitimate interactions and the joy of making something are still there and are still worth it when you experience them.Complaining without contributing is worth nothing. Instead of metaposting actually make something, even small additions matter.

>>291955211It was posted often enough on /a/ to count.Back then, the division between the boards wasn't that strict yet, anyway.
It was cancer but it was amusing to see as an outsiderLike fire glowing on the horizon
>>291953370I'm in my 40s and still a petulant millennial with no interest in 3D who watches anime at 1x speed with no second monitor.
>>291953370you either die an hero or live long enough to become a nofunallowed oldtranny
>>291954749This is complete bullshit. In the same period you claim no one was talking to one another, I remember the opposite.
>>291954165>I'm not actually sure that all of them have a place where they can be honest about themselves (outside of their chatbot chats). This is the reason there is any life left. I don't see the point in debating when it was really good, if it was this general or that, the /pol/tards, the trannies, the dragon ball posters, everyone who came in after 2017 or 2019 or whatever arbitrary line. Fact is this is the only place you can speak somewhat freely about anime on the internet, even with all the psyops, astroturfing and other fuckery going on. We ARE here forever, if for no other reason that there is nowhere else to go.
>>291942524Saved this because it was funny, didn't know what it was from, years later I read the physical manga and came across the exact panel.
>>291953370Anyone that believes /a/ is the be all and end all of anime and manga discussion is a moron. What happens to oldfags, and what will likely happen to anyone who isn’t already a normalfag or Gendo-tier schizo, is that you’ll break away from /a/ to have the same sorts of discussions with your circle of friends, whether online and anonymous or real and known. Look at SakuraFish. Anons love the meme to death but his indication that he was banned indefinitely was shared to an anon through Discord, in that same setting as described above. Look at the 25 Days stream. It’s a bunch of oldfags circlejerking on Discord as well, and they advertised the server to get viewers to join as well. It’s all the same, tired shit, where anons use whatever is most convenient (in modern day, Discord) regardless of whatever the culture on /a/ dictates (like not using VLC in the past) because the culture of this site is fleeting and doesn’t have any bearing on their lives as soon as they’re done here.
>>291955937>with your circle of friendsI'll stop you right there.
>>291955937having friends make you a normalfag
>>291955937>friendsLike I said, oldfags are just a bunch of fucking normalfags.

>>291951302>>2919550611000% this. Some of us had something like a campaign against general threads, around 09 or 10. Modcat even pinned one of mine, good times. This is why /a/ eventually banned general threads, unlike /jp/.I miss Modcat. He /soc/'d too close to the sun.

>>291943658post the original
>>291958924>But the years preceding that generally gave me the impression of "mostly things I barely noticed, if at all".That's on (you), really. I can recognize most of the things on that image even from series I don't follow. There are also things on there that everyone knew about and witnessed. Both from how frequently they were shared or how big the response was to them.
>>291959025Oops, forgot the image.
>>291958921>things that relate to /a/ specifically>things that any anime/manga community would haveLow IQ post.
>>291959183Thanks for explaining the joke, I got it by myself, I'm just calling you a faggot for getting nostalgic about people spamming shit.If the timeline were the other way around, you'd be whining about all these newfags making everything about themselves to the point where you can't even discuss anime anymore.
>>291959281If things were different, you wouldn’t be a tremendous faggot but unfortunately that’s not the world we live in. Old /a/ was better, simple as.
>>291959281I'm pretty sure he brought the charts up not because they are a treasure unto themselves, but that they are demonstrating how much of a community /a/ is, as a whole. At least that's how I'm reading it. But then, >>291959025 is already confident that I am wrong, so there's that.
>>291959328I get that, it's not a difficult concept, I'm just saying these go hand in hand and if fags trolling and spamming the board is what brings that board together and constitutes its identity, then I'd rather have the modern, balkanized /a/ with a stick up our collective ass, where you can actually come and talk about chinese cartoons in relative peace.
>>291959460>with a stick up our collective ass,You are thinking of ~2010 /a/.You can't make such claims of balkanized /a/, because generals make their own rules.>where you can actually come and talk about chinese cartoons in relative peace.Always depending on the general.
>>291959460Then /a/ isn't what you're looking for. You're looking for any forum that discusses anime and manga, which there are thousands of on the internet.

We (yes anon, *we*) really should have tried our hands at another VN after Katawa Shoujo. I know there was a spiritual successor in the works where all the girls were different flavors of depressed / suicidal, but that was kind of a dead end from the jump.
I will never find the doujin this panel came from again.

>>291970187>pomfJesus I haven't thought about that meme in so long.>>291970230About 10 seconds of Yandexing revealed that this is from Platonic Magician H
>>291970211Katawa Shoujo was lightning in a bottle because it came at the perfect time where anons weren't so embittered that they were still willing to put excessive effort into a project with no clear indication of success and this board was still receptive to original content. Neither of those are true anymore, as the former is invalidated by the presence of paid platforms, grifters, laziness, lack of know-how, etc. and the latter is invalidated by overzealous moderation that delete threads that would allow OC to flourish outside of those that have already been grandfathered in.A good indication of this is that the 10th anniversary of Katawa Shoujo was a few years ago and the threads for it on /a/ were all swiftly deleted. Yes, it has a general on /vg/ but even other boards celebrated the 10th anniversary because it was original content that /a/ and more importantly 4chan had made and was well made enough to be deserving of appreciation. Now the rare instances of OC are throwaway images in seasonal threads, not large-scale projects with continued effort by multiple parties. It's simply the nature of this site and the internet at large at this point.
