It also had a much more intrusive unfunny anime-only character.Really, as far as the old anime goes, it's still mostly fun for the first 3 seasons and the first half of the fourth season, but when you're into the fourth season it's mostly anime-only stories and after a while these really degrade in quality. The writers of the tv anime also really seemed to love this season 2/3 status quo, and even after adapting later chapters basically never used elements from them in the filler, which is kind of baffling.
