Does it live up to its #1 spot on AniDB? I watched the pilot and thought it was alright, but I don't think I would watch 110 episodes of that. Does it get good?
if you're a woman you won't find a better anime
>>291922915Don't force yourself to watch things you are not interested in because other people praise them. It's a slow-burn and it doesn't seem for you based on what I can discern from the 30 or so words you wrote.
>>291922915Do you like (fictionnal) historical documentary?Outside of a few action scenes, this is essentially what it is.Yes it is good, but if you don't like watching those, I doubt you will like it.
>>291922915>watched the pilot>not watching the movie that summarizes the first 2.5 episodesNGMI
The start was the weakest part. The show is exceptional. It easily deserves its #1 spot, there aren't many other shows in contention.
>>291922951This makes it look about 30% more gay than it actually is.
>>291923825I don't think I've ever seen a historical documentary, fiction or non-fiction, or a deep-space anime at all. Is it supposed to be a bit mundane? I'm all for good writing over hype moments and aura though. >>291924219Pilots are supposed to hook you, no?>>291924272Interesting. I guess I'll give Overture to a New War a shot then decide if I want to keep going.
>>291922915It's one of those that grows on you with time.
>>291922915stick to shonenslop, zoomie
>>291922915Watch it, chad
>>291922915It does not deserve to be considered the best, no. But it's pretty good.
>>291922915>AniDB?I don't know what that is.LOGH is a slow burn, but excellent.
>>291922915just watch it
>>291922915>AniDBGo back
Yes it is greatThough I assume you're a zoomer with an attention span that can barely last a tiktok, so you probably wouldn't be able to appreciate itI'd say start with the OVA prequels t b h, particularly the one where Reinhard and Kircheis are cadets. The OG series kind of throws you in the middle of things, that one gives you more of a build up.
>>291922915its very good however there is a lot of debating and the show doesn't always tell you what to think so it might turn some people off
>>291927883>the show doesn't always tell you what to thinkI hate that we live with literal NPCs that bsod unless they're told how to feel
>>291922915If you have to ask, you already failed. Come back in 5 years.
>>291922915I think most people find either Yang or Reinhard interesting right out of the gate (if not their characters, then the unique situation each finds themself in). There's more to LOGH than those guys, but they definitely carry you through the first 6 episodes or so.If that's not happening for you, I dunno, it's probably not going to work out.
>>291928397It's Ernst von Eisenach for meThe way he delivers his lines is nothing awe inspiring
>>291922915Keep going. Prepare yourself for lots of space Germans talking about space politics, mixed with the occasional space battle set to 19th century symphonies.LoGH reminds me a little of Babylon 5 in that the best parts are in the middle.
>>291922915It's basically romance of the three kingdoms: space germany edition. I don't think there's anything even similar to it, let alone on it's level, let alone surpassing it.Watching it one episode at a time is probably a bad idea, both because it's a long show and that'll take forever, because there's a lot of characters and things happening you don't want to get confused about, and because there's long arcs of setup and climaxes that all take multiple episodes to go anywhere. I'd say think of it more like a series of movies than a series of episodes. Also this isn't a show where anything is introduced quickly. You're probably missing like 90% of the entire cast including most of the fan favorites.
>>291928397Yang gave me real Gundam vibes at first which made me interested with the whole fighting for a cause he sort of doesn't believe in.
>>291929364Honestly the show is better on rewatch simply because you'll know all the characters and remember what they do instead of struggling to keep track.
>>291922915People talk the anime, also everyone who is not mc has 70 iq. MC has 90 iq though and can grasp the things obvious to the viewer (you). It's like modern isekai in that way. Better watch some gundam.
>>291922915If you are a History dork, a space opera dork, or a classical music dork, you might like it. If you wouldn't watch a documentary about Napoleonic warfare, if you didn't pore over old WW2 films, if you didn't lean forward in your chair in school whenever Greece or Rome or Egypt were mentioned . . .It might not be for you. But if you are that kind of person, it's like a special love letter just for you, and you should read it immediately. It isn't fucking FOR YOU if you're normie scum.
>>291929894Good point. If you feel like you're struggling the first time through it, you're exactly right where you need to be.
The show fell off after THAT death. With no proper conflict left, there's no friction, so the author was forced to create conflicts out of thin air.
