Considerably worse than S1, which actually felt faithful to the universe. Here the setting is just a backdrop for over the top "hacking" that borders on just being straight up magic with no rules or limitations. The romance stuff also felt a lot more on the nose, and I really don't understand why the Japanese are so obsessed with making children the protagonists in these "gritty" shows. It would make a lot more sense if all the parties involved were young adults at least. I just can't take Roman or Talia seriously. David was still pushing it as a 17 year old, but it was still alot better than this. Kang Tao was too retarded for the sake of moving the plot forward, but the show wants us to view them as a big threat. I also just didn't feel like any of the characters were that memorable versus the original crew in S1. If they do a S3, I hope they can do better. 6/10. Would have been a lot better if they removed the kiddie bullshit and focused on characters like King.

The DLC, Phantom Liberty, is even better in both aspects.Good variety of builds to use and enough side content that you probably won't do everything your first time through, so it holds decent replay value.It's not really a true RPG though, you don't get too much choice in which way the story goes outside of which particular ending you want to go with. As long as you don't go in with that expectation, you'll probably have a good time.

Again, nitpicks.Storywriting wise, there were a couple sequences that felt annoyingly on-rails. In particular, I got the ending with the killer robot Alien: Isolation ripoff sequence and it fucking sucked ass. Holy shit it was all so bad. I was playing a ninja, so you'd think a forced stealth section would be no problem, but that thing is simply not affected by anything you can use. It sees through cloaking, and throwing knife head-shots don't blind it, even though I specifically had the upgrade that made the poison work on robots. To top it all off, the thing was scripted as hell. Alien: Isolation worked because they gave the xenomorph AI that had to actually search for the player, but CDPR just put the killer robot on a set path around the facility and if you tried to do something at the wrong time it would just automatically find you and one-shot you. What the fuck is the point of an rpg if none of your build matters for the last boss? But I guess most of that isn't a writing problem. /rantI will say, the writing for the side gigs was excellent.
