3199?
https://youtu.be/luZbpYt0y2Qhttps://youtu.be/vqzkmCDk0B0Its funny how the sects do everything to attack my self-esteem...
>>291914720I'll be honest I enjoyed 2199, but 2202 turned me off.The scale creep felt kind of ridiculous when they started making fuckhuge wave motion guns out of entire fleets.Still I should give 2205 and 3199 a shot, so thanks for reminding me.
>>291914720Thanks to the retarded release format.
>>291916655I didn't mind the higher stakes of 2202But it just seemed a less polished and well put show compared to 2199.There were plenty of episodes that felt like they dragged on, and the villains were nowhere near as charismatic as Desler and his generals. Hell, i dislike the "desler did nothing wrong" moved they pull. Ironically, i still think he is one of the better characters in the show and absolutely makes every scene he is in interesting. That said, i very much liked the climax and ending. Mori and Kodai together is always good.
>>291917186its kino
>>291914720i thought this show ended a decade ago>>291916655wait how many of them are there lol
>>291918610Then stop complaining about no one giving a fuck.
>>291914720I watched the original series and it was conclusive enough, i dont sequels or remakes with resurrections or cop outs
>>291919073They remade the original Yamato into 2199Then, they made 2202, which covers both Ai Senshi (the 2nd movie) and Yamato IIThen they nade 2205, which is roughly The New VoyageThen they made 3199 which is Yamato III and Be Forever Yamato. And now they are making Root 2199 which is going to be Anno's Yamato.
>>291916655>>291917374Why is Yamato incapable of running a compelling storyark post-comet empire in both the OS and remake? Resurrection had to have a literal Half-Life Nihilanth tier threat at the end to justify the increasing galactic threat odds that the Yamato crew keeps facing that it eventually just feels like fanfiction and showing off new autism space battleship designs that are either rips of other real world ships or fanservice.>Dark Nebula Empire was interesting on paper but ultimately just falls flat as a boing commentary on transhumanism>Earth is secured until the literal sun almost blows up in Yamato III to the point that they need the help of an extradimensional civilization to help>Literal great flood in outer space is what finally kills the Yamato after the asspull of bringing Okita back in Final YamatoIt feels like this series can't think of any scenarios to put the Yamato in that aren't "the crew encounters an intergalactic threat and stops them in one afternoon" and Earth is perpetually in a war every other year in the shows. What happened to the more limited engagements? The Tarantula Nebula battle is still absolutely fucking peak and was just the Yamato vs a battlegroup of three carriers, a battlecarrier and dreadnought. Why is the ship's crew constantly having to face philosophical dilemmas in literal extinction wars? There's so much potential and yet it feels like they opt for Dragonball Z powerscaling but with spaceships instead of writing genuinely nuanced military sci-fi.
Nobody knew it existed in 2013 either.
>>291920333Extinction was central to Yamato from the start, it would be awkward to pivot to Kodai's daily life or some other random wars too. They chose that path, and honestly at least they were honest about being fanservice and milking, past a clear "story ended here" signpost. Final Yamato is the ultimate fanservice film.
2199 was pretty tight, showed the >dub to normalfag friends who usually shun animu.Celestial Ark was a long episode of 2199, it introduces the space marines for better or worse. 2202 alternates between fuck year, and crappy telenovela and you're out of tequila.2205 is your Dessler wank, it is about as awesome as it is silly.3199... I have no idea what the fuck is going on. Or when the fuck.
I blame most of the post-2199 shit on Fukui who can't stop wanking Dessler off or be a nostalgia fag, and not being properly tardwrangled, I think the only instance of that happens when he wanted to kill Yamamoto but instead sidelines her.
>>291917186Why would that change anything?
>>291917374so hot
what's the remake covering?
>>291920064isn't his studio occupied with making ANOTHER eva with taro?
What show?
What's the best way to get into Space Battleship Yamato? I want to say it began as a manga and has received multiple anime adaptations over the years.
>>291929165yes but they're both co-productions, nuYamato with IGpro and nuEva with cloverworks>>2919292151974 anime -> Yamato 2199 -> go back and watch the old shit in production order
>>291929215Just start with 2199 and go from there. No reason to watch the old shit when a fantastic remake exists.
>>291914720I didn't even know the first episode aired.
For me, it's Akira.
>>291929278I do think the 74 show is worth a shot, if only for the sake of historical context and its impact to the medium.I find it more enjoyable and better put than, say, Harlock TV
>>291929317>for the sake of historical context and its impact to the mediumDeep on the spectrum are we?
