alright OP I'm gonna say it seems like you're new here but yea /3/ is a waste of time for advice like this there's a bunch of anons that are exclusively here to troll as a coping mechanism for their failed /3/d career. If you want a good answer, you'll just have to practice and make more heads. Try out different techniques like vertex extruding or sculpting and get a feel for what clicks with you everyone's workflow is gonna be a lil different for the end result they're after. It shouldn't have to be said but to get into any artform you need to know the fundamentals. There's countless tuts on crafting anime characters from scratch but one of the big ones you'll see early is blocking out things and it's important. You've got barely a head, no hair no hex nut collar none of it is there yet in primitive shapes. You can get a much better feel for how the head should be shaped if you've got a body to proportion it with, then after you've got the base you just kinda eyeball it based on anatomy studies. Good job using references by the way, but get more detailed ones for specific body parts like anime noses are handled many different ways in 3D art. Overall you should buckle down and if you need support try a real community seriously anything is better than here. I'm mostly just rambling lmao

    Just give ai a try.
    >>
    >>1033536
normally I'd say AI isn't great but here specifically it's actually perfect. Not for building your model, but for making all the addon bullshit you don't wanna pay for. I just look at superhive and feed the descriptions into the AI and it's able to just make shit half the time and the other half a few bugfixes and troubleshooting knocks it out. Your alternative is getting a job to pay for other people to do it for you, but considering your inability to teach yourself a new skill your options are probably limited there no offense but let's be real with our lazy selves when we're being lazy. I don't really model with AI because I personally enjoy the workflow of building things from scratch, but it's impressive what it can knock out in a minute versus me in an hour. Anyone in manus factus 3D modelling is wasting their time unless using it for fun or as a creative outlet, and those passion projects tend to burn the longest rather than burning out over making a single head. AI or not get your head in the game

    >He uses 2022 outdated talking points.
Modern AI can make low poly or optimized assets just fine. Ask for a range (i.e 3000 triangles) and it will adhere to it.
    >>
And remember, this is the worst that AI will ever be. Next year's 3D modelling will be even MORE powerful.

This is a character for a game asset someone was modding.
    >>
    >>1033664
    >>1033665
I find it weird that you show an example with excessive edges to "prove" your point about how AI has "improved". Additionally, why are you even posting on a board about people creating their own models if all you're going to do is rely on AI to do that for you?
    >>
    >>1033676
It goes both ways. The same people on this board spent their entire lives shit talking AI and claiming it was somehow useless.

Now that the evidence is out, people are trying to run with their tails tucked between their legs pretending what they said the last 4 years never happen.

It's fine if people still want to model the old and extremely conservative way. But the crappy trash talk was overdue for some karma.
    >>
    >>1033682
    Anon, two things:
Firstly (as my post above stated when asking about the excessive edges/ verts) AI is not at the professional level just yet so you come off as retarded when you shill it like it is.
Secondly, and more importantly, this is a hobby board about autists making models. So if you come in and only use AI to make your models it shows that you don't care about making models, only about getting attention from others. People pick up on that and call you out.

Don't be upset when you receive backlash for making multiple threads and invading multiple unrelated threads just so you can pontificate about how "awesome" AI is. The end product is only a part of the appeal of this board, something you clearly missed despite the numerous years you spent here.
    >>
    >>1033684
Jesus Christ, I've already said I have no issue with people who choose to model the old fashioned way.

Where you remain in denial or stick your head in the sand is when you continue to spread lies and pretend that AI models haven't evolved past 2022 era talking point.

There are no "5 million verts" in my wireframe >>1033664 (You) unless you suck at math.
In terms of professional uses, we ARE seeing mass layoffs and studio reduction sizes.

You want to know why they do that anon? Because the AI is good enough that fewer professionals are needed to ship products anymore.

It's not fucking hard. I'm actually trying to help you people. When I talk to people about AI and they say all this silly stuff that was already debunked, I get extreme whiplash. I rather people enter 3D modelling and Art with an open mind then pretend the world around them doesn't exist.

Again, if you want to model by hand go ahead. Just like if someone wants to bake bread using an old wood burning oven. But don't act stupid when other people and entire businesses use a machine to make bread because the results look pretty much the same.
    >>

    >There are no "5 million verts" in my wireframe >>1033664 unless you suck at math.
Anon, I said that picture had excessive edges HERE>>1033676. My point was that while AI is improving, it IS NOT at a professional level just yet.

    >In terms of professional uses, we ARE seeing mass layoffs and studio reduction sizes.
    >You want to know why they do that anon? Because the AI is good enough that fewer professionals are needed to ship products anymore.
Anon, arguing that the mass layoffs are happening because "AI is good" is extremely narrow minded. It completely ignores the massive increase in hiring that occurred during the 2020-22 period. It also ignores the massive amount of losses many tech companies reported within the last few years. AI is one of the least involved factors in this.

    >Again, if you want to model by hand go ahead. Just like if someone wants to bake bread using an old wood burning oven. But don't act stupid when other people and entire businesses use a machine to make bread because the results look pretty much the same.
That isn't what you are doing. The equivalent of what you are doing would be like an evangelical preacher barging into people's homes to preach "their truth" when the residents did not ask for the information nor would it be helpful to them.

    >My point was that while AI is improving, it IS NOT at a professional level just yet.
My definition of professional is that it can already replace a Junior Artist, which the industry does employ thousands of.
Whether or not it can replace Senior Artists becomes a matter of semantics. Because someone like an Art director or CEO could fire his entire staff but he keep himselfs as the sole owner or modeller...

    >It completely ignores the massive increase in hiring that occurred during the 2020-22 period.
    No it god damn doesn't.
2020 was 6 years ago. The time for doing post-Covid correction would have been late 2022 and 2024 only.
This is backed up by the fact entirely new teams and departments were created after 2024 that completely reinforce AI such as machine learning teams or data engineers.

    >" It also ignores the massive amount of losses many tech companies reported within the last few years."
    Even more retarded shit.
Sony, Microsoft, Google have all made record profits in the past 4 years. They're not struggling anon, and when they hire it is for the new AI teams and departments I just talked about above.

I make my own models and I win experience and self improvement, you make your AI models and you lose 2.99, both are worthless because automation, but I made something for myself, you instead are larping to be someone like me.

Go to Walmart and try and find how many handcrafted chairs are on sale?
You won't find any because the $20 chair made in a Chinese factory is good enough for most people.

The same logic with AI 3D models vs handmade ones.

    >I'm doing the merciful thing and telling him if he doesn't improve fast then a robot will beat him to the punch.
anon, I was born into a world filled with artists that are better than I will ever be
since at least the early 2010s the videogame industry has been flooded with cheap artists in southeast asia or wherever. they're cheaper and better than me, easily
but they didn't and no robot will ever "beat me to the punch" because no one and nothing else can make my art for me. whatever they make will be something else. probably useful if you want to make "content" to sell. a good thing to keep in mind if you're planning on making a career out of this. but completely irrelevant if your goal is to make art because you enjoy making art
only I can make my art
    >>
    >>1033810
    > but completely irrelevant if your goal is to make art because you enjoy making art only I can make my art
Your heart is in the right place but you're still not thinking about this logically.

There is nothing wrong with doing art as a hobby for yourself, but 99% of artists aren't doing that.
Funnily enough, the OP never said the same thing either. He never said if his goal was to get a job or commissions by studying 3D.
So my point still stands. Many Junior Artists still think they have a chance of approach 3D Models manually, and then want to apply straight to Disney or Sony once they're done.

In that case, why would you attempt to disagree with my post? These companies are going to use AI to replace them.

    Artists are motivated by money.
Why else would they drop several thousands of dollars at Art Schools and Colleges?
The one or two people you find doing it as a hobby on the streets doesn't change that.

Be in denial all you want, you can even go on /ic/ and there are several topics asking about how to get rich off art or how to get noticed by 500k follower accounts (who again, also make money from their job).

Your analogy is the the most stupid thing I've ever heard, 20 USD chairs still have a price, you have a middle man, a factory, transport etc, what ai does is nothing like that, to make a 3d model you need a 3d modeller in the first place, now that work is basically gone (no intrinsic value), if everyone can do it its worthless (except the price of electricity that took to make). That you can't grasp that concept is mind boggling.
My premise is that you want to be the middleman for something that everyone can do on their own computer, or do you think that people would pay you for "your majestic prompts"?

    >Your analogy is the the most stupid thing I've ever heard, 20 USD chairs still have a price, you have a middle man, a factory, transport etc,
The point was machines are still being used to bypass human labor that would have cost 100x more.
The market says people want to buy cheaper products and not wait for an artist to make a new chair for them...

    >now that work is basically gone (no intrinsic value),
Not true. People can still sell bundles and even hand picked AI generations that look good.
We already have that. It's called storefronts like the Unity, Unreal or Turbosquid marketplace.

    >That you can't grasp that concept is mind boggling.
    Speak for yourself.

    >or do you think that people would pay you for "your majestic prompts"?
Everyone can take pictures with their phone. So why do wedding photographers still exist?
AI is just a tool just as the Camera was.
    >>
    >>1033870
    >The point was machines are still being used to bypass human labor that would have cost 100x more.
Duh, ai is like having the factory on your home, thats why you bypass literally everything, making a middle man obsolete
    >People can still sell bundles and even hand picked AI generations that look good
Those storefronts are completely ridden by that shit and surprise, nobody buys them, the last number I read was 1usd for every 90 dollars made by a human. So market says no to your AI models, you know why? Because they have no intrinsic value.
    >Everyone can take pictures with their phone
Do you realise that this example works against you?
It's like the chair example but backwards, In this case you having a camera on your phone and taking a photo of the wedding doesn't have an intrinsic value, the photographer and his knowledge of composition lighting etc has value.
If you train an ai to take photos with the same skill as a photographer, then the tool becomes the author making the photographer a middle man taking his intrinsic value. The value comes back only when people want a human authorship for prestige sake aka the fucking artisanal chair. In conclusion you don't get it
    >>

    >>
    >>1033872
    >Duh, ai is like having the factory on your home, thats why you bypass literally everything, making a middle man obsolete
Ironically, that's your fault for not thinking more creatively.
Go on Fiverr or Upwork and you can find LOTS of jobs associated with AI based services.

Afterall, just because the tools (or Factory) gets easier, doesn't mean finding the human based demand does.
That's the part you gotta work for.

    >Those storefronts are completely ridden by that shit and surprise, nobody buys them,
Again, debunked by the examples above.
Bundles actually make it easier for customers, because they're not having to sort through a million AI pictures or models themselves.
Someone curated or picked the best flavors for them.

Also, these AI jobs existed because businesses can't spend all day cleaning up pictures or 3D models. They would rather pay an AI Artist to do it for them.

    >If you train an ai to take photos with the same skill as a photographer, then the tool becomes the author making the photographer a middle man taking his intrinsic value.
AI doesn't have human taste. Literally.
It's like training a robot to taste soup and tell you which one is the best.
It could tell you which one is salty or has a lot of protein, but it could never tell you which one is "delicious".

    Same logic with AI Art.

Except that the entrance to the job is so small that everyone can do it, you can claim you debunked my premise but you didn't show any data, I did, and for the storefronts is 1 dollar for every 90 made by a human 3d model, counting the influx of ai 3dmodels on those platforms, the market is not there. You are a middle man of an absurd task, you want to be paid for pressing the generate button, illogical.
When reselling ai 3d art creates real consumers we can talk, for now, the market place for a 3d generation is inexistent. I'm not arguing that there's no people uploading curated 3d models, I'm using data to argue that there's no real market for it.
    >AI doesn't have human taste. Literally
Again, it's like taking to an infant, you are arguing with yourself at this point.
    You don't get it.
My point is ai doesn't have intrinsic value and ai is not a tool, is not designed for that, it doesn't help you with your art, it does it for you.
Taste is part of the market value, but taste is subjective, and it can be done by ai, you people call it a lora, You can input your tasteful image references there, is that simple.
Now, what AI can't do is to add prestige, something that a trained or influent human can do, the same thing that you argued against me in the first place. There's no need for a middle man to press the generate button for you, there's no market for ai as a tool for artists.

    >I'm not arguing that there's no people uploading curated 3d models, I'm using data to argue that there's no real market for it.
It's just one market or example.
If someone cared about higher sales or better performance, then bespoke AI Artists are absolutely doing ok.
Such as the AI Artist who was hired to work on a heavy metal band cover.
Again, if "anyone could just do it" then go submit your resume to band, tell them you can "type a prompt" and see what their reaction is or how much they would pay you.

    >My point is ai doesn't have intrinsic value and ai is not a tool, is not designed for that, it doesn't help you with your art, it does it for you.
Anything that saves money and time absolutely has value.
Why did the car beat the horse despite Cars being more complicated and expensive?
Because a car could drive you anywhere around the country whereas the Horse needed sleep and food to continue.
It was an effective tradeoff for a superior mode of transport.

AI is the same thing. It's absolutely a tool because you have to have an eye for cleaning up mistakes, picking images or models that look pleasing, adapting to fast turn around times from customers and so forth.

Again, the Digital Camera went through the same thing. There's only one button to take a photograph, yet why are photographers still being hired for events like school graduations or weddings? Again, one button doesn't replace experience and taste.

    >Anything that saves money and time absolutely has value
You certainly have missed the point entirely, a 3d model doesn't have intrinsic value if you can produce a simil of it in a minute for 2.99, what you are arguing about is "3d ai generating tools" and not the 3d model itself, you like to conflict both because your argument doesn't work otherwise. If everyone has a tool that can generate hundreds of 3d models based on hundreds of generated ai concepts, the value of those is basically the tokens that took you to generate, hence you can only charge for the button press and that's basically your aggregate value.
    >yet why are photographers still being hired for events like school graduations or weddings?
Again, what are you discussing about? If that's the case then your artisan chair example doesn't make sense, if you conflict the artisan out of a job with ai generation saying that the market chooses IKEA, then you are giving me the "artisanal" photography as a refutal of what? You are literally refuting your own point.
