My first thing to make in Blender was a chess pieces set. And after that I animated the fastest possible check-mate, not sure how it was called.

I suggest installing Autodesk from 2013.

Those shapes are pretty good for three days of use. You are doing fine and making good progress. Keep messing with 3D for a few years and you will get comfortable with the software fast.
