...t-tu,ta,type of, what? Sorry, I think I was asking about, making ball joints and sockets. Why am I supposed to, be, showing stuff suddenly? I am still at the basic. Though if you are interested,
This picture illustrate most what I am curious of. I think something about frictions, maybe even "point of contact", which I just thought of, otherwise, this is a curious topic regardless.

Weirdly-stylized torso I just made in trying to get a better hang of the different tools.
Is there a particularly good way to go about smoothing round bits? I had to keep switching between the inflating and smoothing brushes for the breasts because just smoothing creates weird flat areas.

box modeling the breasts seperately, subdividing and then merging it with the torso model as one of the last steps has been my go to also how do you make the skin so unlumpy and the creases so perfect?whats the voxel size when you retopologize?(also im really impressed by how well you got the proportions down while still pulling off that kind of stylization do you have any anatomy advice?)

    >how do you make the skin so unlumpy and the creases so perfect?
I use the crease brush to outline different elements, smooth the resulting creases a little, then use the inflate brush on the areas between the creases.
I'm not sure if that's the 'right' way to go about it, but it seems to work.
    >whats the voxel size when you retopologize?
    0.01
    >do you have any anatomy advice?
    Nope.
I'm neither an expert on anatomy, nor did I use any particular references while making this. Infact I wouldn't be surprised if it's completely fucked anatomically.
I was just trying to make some pleasing shapes while attempting to get better with the sculpting tools.

it's ZBrush 2025.0.1 for reference. looks like this problem pops up all over the place with other versions too. is Zbrush always this much of a piece of shit?
I wanted to learn it because it's also getting non-alien UI soon which is even more appealing, but this isn't a great start

you boolean the part that the joint goes into, except you purposely make the socket a bit smaller than the joint. That's engineering though, they don't teach that in art school.

If shit is graying out, like draw size, then it's probably the brush that you chose. Also you're doing weird shit to make that happen, I haven't had that problem since I first touched Zbrush years ago.

Been trying out Nomad Sculpt. Not only am I finding it much more intuitive for sculpting than Blender, but it also works pretty well on my old ass Surface 3 tablet while Blender pisses and shits itself.
    Anyone else tried it?

who's the kim jung gi of digital sculpting that has a tutorials and or courses?
    >>
    >>1031375
i could be wrong there's nobody exactly matching that for 3d sculpting. maybe flippednormals or something? you can check some of their anatomy or portraiture courses and maybe that'll be useful but otherwise courses are basically a waste of money

assuming you just want to get better at sculpting humans i'd recommend going through Anatomy for Sculptors, i haven't gone through all of it myself but it's been pretty comprehensive so far

oh this thread is still up. I'm >>1027630, dropped zbrush and moved onto Nomad in late April, followed the 'Nomad Sculpt: Solid Foundations' course on udemy. made these ending with the squid thing in May and fizzled out, think I got overwhelmed by the idea of having to learn so much anatomy

    >>1031366
it's cool, performance-wise it's definitely better than blender
love how you can paint with roughness, metalness and opacity, the painting options in general are really good. the layers are very helpful too since you can add details and then either remove it entirely or adjust it, whether it's just for paint or actual mesh changes
switching HDRIs, lighting, matcaps, rendering and post-process, loading new HDRIs and brushes and matcaps, all of that is pretty painless and intuitive
as far as other comparisons to blender, I think Nomad's UI is a bit messy at times, things can be scattered all over the place. I find myself fucking around in the filters, paint and menus at the top-right and never have a solid grasp of what's where
biggest thing it's lacking is a proper poly modeler, which is obviously featured in blender. you can mess with the primitives to a certain degree but not with the same degree of control. and maybe this is a me problem, but I find blender easier when it comes to adding new objects, rotating, scaling and organizing them and just performing basic stuff like mirroring and applying modifiers. if I wanted to add a load of cubes around a sphere and then scale them all individually inwards at the top, that'd be a nightmare in Nomad for example
basically blender is easier (for me) to use but it's worse for sculpting

also fuck it, if you want a comprehensive Nomad course: https://online-courses.club/nomad-sculpt-the-ultimate-course/
and I uploaded the FlippedNormals skin brush kit here, works in Nomad: >>1031346

It takes time, but you'll get used to it. Highly recommend using some kind of pen if you're not. Nomad is also very oriented around being used on a tablet with gestures, so you may need to configure settings and setup keybinds for more comfort.
