I think I'm dying from alcoholic liver disease and I'm scared. I can't even go to sleep because I have some abdominal pain. No I'm not drinking anymore. I had to use medications to get to sleep. I have no other symptoms it seems but that. I'm currently waiting for my lab tests, but I'm not really anticipating it. I'm about to be age 31 in 5 days. Yes I know I could've quit, but, it seems this world was too much for me.. So, if it does indeed turn out that I have this I just wanted to let you know that you were always good to me, perhaps not in the most transparent way, but you always told me the truth about this world that others would not, even very ugly ones and I thank you for that. But I could not handle it, especially of finding things on my own accord. Nor could I deal with social obligations in the very beginning and it exhausted me. So I die the fate of a tired man and a burdened participant.. Perhaps.. I will get some peace after this life .. One would hope.. If this is fatal that is..

    >Glycation is a natural, non-enzymatic chemical process where excess sugar molecules spontaneously bond with proteins, lipids, or DNA in the body >This reaction forms unstable intermediate structures that eventually turn into permanent Advanced Glycation End-products (AGEs). >AGEs cross-link structural proteins like collagen and elastin, making them rigid, weak, and brittle So excess sugar i.e. any carbohydrate you eat, since any other sugar your body needs you can make on your own from animal fats and protein (there are no essential carbohydrates), literally damages your protein structures (literally every part of your body including your eyes) >advanced glycation end products (AGEs) significantly affect eye tissue by promoting protein cross-linking, oxidative stress, and inflammation >AGEs are harmful compounds formed when proteins or lipids combine with sugars in the bloodstream through a non-enzymatic reaction called glycation. Because many eye structures contain long-lived proteins with slow turnover rates, they are particularly vulnerable to AGE accumulation over time

I was surprised there wasn't a thread for discussing quantum mechanics already. So I made one. Let's exchange our thoughts surrounding quantum mechanics. I'll go first: I was checking material around the double-slit experiment, again, trying to wrap my head around it, and found something I didn't noticed the previous times. > Photons act as a wave in the electromagnetic field and transmit their energy as a particle. This made me think about a ton of stuff but here is the short version. The classic example to illustrate the interference pattern is water waves. But water waves are made of water molecules (Go figure) and the reason they produce waves it's because of the interaction between water molecules as part of one thing. Shoot two streams of water through both slits and you won't get any interference patterns. Could it be that the interference patter with the photon and electron versions is because there is just a unaccounted discrete interaction and not the "the particle passes through both slits at the same time" explanation everyone gives? My guess is that when a photon passes through a slit, its electromagnetic field alters the electromagnetic fields of the slits and that affects the next photon that passes through, bending it's path in a uncertain way. The part that it's still a bit fuzzy on my mind is how does this explanation fits with the scenario where the path of the photon is known and the interference pattern disappears.

These include OpenAI’s announced Navier-Stokes proof. In particular, we show that the formalised Lean proof does not correspond to the NL proof of blow-up of solutions to the Navier-Stokes equations. Is there any point in studying physics and math anymore now that AI can literally invent new science that humans can't? I'm so demoralized by this anons. Using AI will atrophy your brain and when scientists start doing it, the effect of dumbening will be collective. We'll end up in a "black box" society where nobody understands how anything works because all the new science wasn't found, it was just pooped out by a mysterious neural network machine. So I think at least one part of humanity should understand physics intuitively at all times so we wont all end up becoming prompt engineers.

2 billion years ago it was possible to create all the forms of life we see today but it is no longer so (or to be more accurate it was back then possible to continue evolution without limits) more than 1 billion years ago, bacteria were bottlenecked, non archae-bacteria, meaning just the regular bacteria, are forever locked in simplified form, they cannot evolve into multicellular life meanwhile archae continued to create multicellular fungi, plantae, and animalia then prototypes of single celled archae died out and only specialized niches survived for the future (those who live in hot thermal vents or in super acid conditions and other weird adaptations) no archae exist today which can create multicellular life, there will never be new beginnings of multicellular life again since all single celled organisms capable of doing that have died animals were bottlenecked 550 million years ago, the genes that allow new body forms were selected out and they can never happen again but for a short time dozens of different animal body types evolved, in merely less than 100 million years locked in forms: -snail (octopus is a snail from a branch which was not yet completely locked into a non mutable snail body) a bit more variable form: -insect/crustacean/spider (they have more numerous species than most other animals and all have variying forms except only the insects show remarkable variety because insects retain 550 million year old mutable DNA material which everyone else lost, except for vertebrates who also have it) really locked: -penis worms, they have looked exactly the same for like 700 million years plants: -land plants look like animals in many ways, ocean plants are really primitive on the level of bacteria, but due to some stroke of luck, just one of the plant ancestors, maybe 500 million years ago, which made a succesful landing, was from a lineage that retained the mutable DNA found from 500 million year old organisms

Is actual magic, I don't mean the ones from harry potter and anime, like the more I study them, they seem to be like proto sciences. Religion and magik seems to me like the first sciences that existed in the ancient world. Sure, they had a lot of supersticions, but the more I study, the more that magik seems grounded on the studied of practical things that today we call medicine, psychology, psyquatry, physics, navigation. When you look up, things like music being used as psychological treatment, or water acquiring diferent qualities based on cymatic exposure, to be attempts at explaining things we today repeat in experiments like cymatics. Spirits and the methaphysical world, seem to be what we call today the noetics and the paranormal, which we now have enough modern evidence to suspect is real. A lot of such ancient knowledge seems to be to use astrology to device catastrophes or wars. Which after enough study, I've come to see correlations like human wars being on specific stages of the sun cycle, maybe heat and solar radiation was a cause of humans starting wars. All the attempts to clasify humans by birth, seems to be correct in the sense that humans follow jungian archetypes, and maybe climate and sun and moon cycles have an effect on baby personalities. Historical cycles seems to be a very well documented phenomena. Methaphysial phenomena of the spirit seems to be what we now call qlia or mental illnesses like schizoprenic delusions.

If I were in Trump's admin in positions related to science and education, I swear I would try my best to sue and jail all the major journal (Nature, Cell, Science, Lancet, etc.) executives, wikipedia editors, research institute executives etc. for intentional mass-spreading of ideologically biased disinformation(sic!) which is a major public and academic threat.

Brain is capable learning languages in matter of hours and yours probably already know around 10 if not more, you can actually play several musical instruments and can do math faster then actual calculator... but you don't have conscious access to it. Excellent design btw... what's worse that partial skills might only appear by accident or sometimes in dreams when your brain is in overdrive. So there is a filter because if you were aware of everything you would just get overwhelmed so instead of this you have to spend years to learn something that your brain probably already knows and fully understands....

I was diagnosed with anxiety in the '90s. In HS and uni every chick I knew had a benzo prescription. I have never been allowed benzos, I'm almost 40 now, 30 years of going to psychs. Why do psychiatrists prescribe only SSRIs, SNRIs, and antipsychotics now? The only downer accessible to the average person now is alcohol. Benzos are safer long term than alcohol, SSRIs, or SNRIs. Serotonin has been proven to not impact happiness, and SSRIs / SNRIs work by flooding your brain with so much serotonin and noreprinephrine that they kill off your natural structures. Why is psychiatry okay with this? None of the drugs prescribed for anxiety today work and they all cause brain damage (SxRIS) or parkinsonism (antipsychotics). Why are drugs that work for anxiety basically banned for men while the drugs they do prescribe don't work and cause permanent brain damage? Should I just do heroin, which has zero long term side effects and actually works for depression and anxiety?

If reality exists outside of our perceptions, doesn't that mean we also have part of our existence outside of our own perceptions? Look at a star. What does it look like independently of perception? If it has no form, then we, as physically real objects, have a "no form" existence more fundamental than our conscious perceptions. How can this be? It's like the rug is being pulled from underneath us, but we're still in the same place. The only thing I can think could be the case is that the bedrock of reality is pure information. I suppose my question for the thread is: what is information?

Critical thinking by itself is not difficult. What's difficult is analytical thinking, which ought to be treated as a prerequisite for any critical thought. Without analytical thinking, you're stuck in the realm of speculative rationalization, which is a degenerate form of thought because it avoids rigor, yet is highly enjoyed by people across the bell curve.

I'm not a scientist or anything, but with all these modern trains colliding, couldn't it be because of magnets? Modern trains use magnetic levitation systems, and magnets attract each other, so the chances the magnets malfunctioned or were hacked by third parties are high, are they not? Kevin McKernan (genomics expert, former Human Genome Project R&D lead at MIT/Whitehead, founder of Medicinal Genomics and personally my friend) and Merogenomics (Dr. Magdalena/Manuel Raszeks educational molecular biology/genomics channel) are both professional geneticists/molecular biologists. https://x.com/Kevin_McKernan/status/2116247885230776787?a=IZlZjQTtjDVJN5LJP9U In the quoted post + video, Raszek notes that residual DNA safety data applied only to "naked" (free) DNA outside cells. The DNA found in modRNA COVID vaccines is LNP-encapsulated and delivered directly into cells, fundamentally different. McKernan agrees, using a paintball analogy to underscore that altered conditions change the risk profile. Their broader work (McKernans residual plasmid DNA findings and integration concerns; Merogenomics related analyses) raises the possibility that this DNA contributed to genomic instability on a population scale. It means the end of the affected populations. Deleterious mutations accumulate faster than selection can purge them. In populations with reduced recombination or high mutational load, Mullers ratchet clicks: each irreversible loss of the least-loaded class raises the average mutation burden. Fitness collapses across generations; fertility, viability, and disease resistance crash. Within 2-3 decades (roughly one human generation plus offspring), genomic meltdown drives population-wide extinction.

The biggest cope of this board is that they can't accept that materialism, while useful has limitations to perceive all layers of reality. Reducing human experience to mathematical capitalism is unsatisfactory, and I don't agree with that.

Slavshit anon back. Previous thread has reached the limit. I had to take a deep breath and stop sperging out and get my shit together. Ok, let me reformulate my position and the question that bothers and always bothered me in proper terminology. What really bothers and always bothered me was Other Minds problem, which is separate from the Hard Problem, but which I used to conflate and confuse up to this day. Thank you niggerfaggot anon for actually correcting me, making me sperg out, and learn something new. I unironically, genuinely appreciate it. With great butthurt come great revelations. Anyway. When I was 11, the idea of solipsism randomly independently crossed my mind without even reading anything on the topic and it left me genuinely scared. "What if I'm simply hallucinating my mom and my dad" I thought as a kid. "What if they don't experience stuff". I was terrified by this thought. It eventually led me to getting interested in analytic philosophy and neuroscience. And I came to realization that the question of Other Mind still boils down to (not so blind?) faith. Because you can't prove that spike trains, hemodynamics, EM fields, behavior, etc. actually corresponds to something inside that actually "feels shit" the same way I do. You can believe or not believe it. The patterns (aka "laws") of the world of experience though make "me" act and behave surprisingly similar to other "humans" in this stream of experience though, which makes me subject to automatic intuitive assumptions that others "feel shit" too, because I possess certain momenta (aka empathy and similar phenomena) that makes me automatically, intuitively, pre-rationally assume that "others" and me are quite similar and "hence" (not truly a logical "hence", thus the parentheses) "they" most likely "feel shit" too. Idk, I'll try elaborating more a bit later, but I genuinely find this question probably the most important philosophical question ever.
