https://www.telegraph.co.uk/world-news/2026/09/21/politico-and-cnn-sue-trump-over-white-house-ban/ All major US TV networks are boycotting Donald Trump’s official engagements after he banned CNN from the White House. Mr Trump said on Friday he was banning the network – along with MS NOW and Politico – shortly after he was reportedly shown clips by his aide Natalie Harp of MS NOW anchors criticising his administration on air. The announcement apparently came as a surprise to many of Mr Trump’s advisers. But he is known to be particularly fond of Ms Harp, who has earned the nickname of “the human printer” because she is responsible for handing him printouts of news reports or other important information. CNN had been scheduled on Monday to be the “TV pool” camera crew, which is responsible for following the president and broadcasting his engagements to all networks. The pooled coverage duty rotates among the major news networks, which then share the footage with each other. CNN was removed from its pooled coverage responsibilities following Mr Trump’s ban. But the other news networks in the pool – Fox News, NBC, ABC and CBS – decided not to provide a replacement in solidarity with CNN, marking a major escalation in the feud between Mr Trump and the media. “The public has a vital interest in receiving accurate, independent information about its government. No administration should restrict a news organisation because it objects to its reporting,” a joint statement from the five networks said. An email sent to TV pool subscribers on Monday said: “Effective today, the TV pool will not be covering events designated as pool coverage of the president,” according to CNN.

https://thehill.com/homenews/administration/6103061-white-house-launches-trump-tv/ The White House on Monday launched Trump TV, a 24/7 stream on YouTube, days after President Trump banned reporters from CNN, Politico and MS NOW over their coverage of him and his administration. The inaugural video was a stream of Trump speaking at Mount Rushmore on July 3 as part of a livestream titled “Trump TV: The Essentials Station.” The stream started at 7 p.m. “Watch the Trump Administration’s biggest moments all in one place,” read the stream’s description on YouTube. “Top videos, major remarks, and must-see highlights streaming 24/7 and updated in real time. Stay informed and stay up to date!” The White House used a similar description on the social platform X but added that “Not every big moment has made it on your TV, now it can.” The video is also streamed via a YouTube window on the White House website. Beside the window is a box titled “White House Live.” The window read that it was “Off Air” but advised viewers to “Stay Tuned.” Below both windows is a chyron reading official updates and statements praising Trump’s actions as president, among other texts. It is unclear if Trump TV will play live events featuring the president and his administration. A promo for Trump TV played on the White House’s YouTube channel earlier in the day. The video used clips of characters from various media –– including “Seinfeld,” “Family Guy,” and “The Dark Knight” –– watching TV as The Buggles’s “Video Killed the Radio Star” played in the background. The words “Trump TV” flash across the screen over the clips.

https://www.thebulwark.com/p/scoop-looksmaxxer-clavicular-charged-with-criminal-rape-drugging FAMOUSLY HANDSOME RIGHT-WING LIVESTREAMER Clavicular has been on the rise. His business connection to an Israeli mafia associate has ended, his apparent drug overdose is five months in the past, and the connection with his powerful publicist has been rekindled. Heck, Clavicular has virtually entered the mainstream: “Looksmaxxing,” the term he popularized for taking any measure to maximize your appearance, was added to the Merriam-Webster dictionary. In just the past few weeks, he’s done the rounds on several prominent podcasts, positioning himself as a harmless, albeit unquestionably odd, media figure. On Friday, he appeared on comedian Howie Mandel’s podcast where he met Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan. He has also recently appeared on a Barstool Sports property, the conservative women’s show Red Scare, and All In, which is cohosted by Trump tech adviser David Sacks. Thanks to his relentless media tour (and desire for attention), the 20-year-old Clavicular’s platform as a voice for Gen Z masculinity is bigger than ever. But Clavicular—whose real name is Braden Peters—appears to have a far darker side in new court documents, not previously reported, filed by prosecutors in

https://nypost.com/2026/09/22/world-news/protesters-gather-outside-un-to-demand-an-end-to-iranian-regime-political-executions/ Thousands of anti-regime protesters gathered outside the United Nations headquarters in Manhattan on Tuesday to demand an end to Iran’s execution of political prisoners and to establish a free democracy in the country. The demonstration, led by the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), called for world leaders at the UN General Assembly to act and force the Islamic republic to end the latest surge in executions, with at least 100 political prisoners currently on death row. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the NCRI, slammed the presence of Iranian leaders, including President Masoud Pezeshkian, at the UN meeting as she and rallygoers called for an end to the current regime. “As long as this regime remains in power, repression, executions, terrorism, and warmongering will continue,” Rajavi said in a video call-in. “The solution is regime change by the Iranian people and their organized Resistance.” Iran has undergone an execution spree since its brutal crackdown on protesters in January, with at least 56 people hung on national security-related charges since March 19, according to the UN. United Nations human rights chief Volker Türk warned last month that more than 100 people were facing death sentences under the regime. Among those recently sentenced to death was Leila Abolhasani, 43, a mother of two who only filmed a retail store burning during the January protests.

A spokesperson for the Ministry of Defence says it wants UK industry to play a "central role" in delivering thousands of modern light mobility vehicles. The spokesperson adds: "We are backing British businesses and supporting our defence industrial base with 85% of our defence spending currently staying in the UK, driving reindustrialisation and making defence an engine for growth." Ford's factory in Dagenham, east London, is part of a joint venture with defence specialists General Dynamics and Ricardo bidding for a Ministry of Defence (MoD) contract to supply 9,000 vehicles over the next five to seven years to replace the Army's ageing Land Rover-based fleet. French car maker Renault has signed a strategic agreement with defence giant Thales to produce military drones - targeting an output of up to 1,000 units per month. The French military and Directorate General for Armament want to tap into Renault's mass-production capabilities to bypass traditional, slower defence supply chains. Meanwhile, Volkswagen has agreed to sell an under-used factory in Osnabruck, western Germany, which will become a military manufacturing hub in a joint venture with an Israeli-based defence investor. https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c6vgyq598k9po

https://www.reuters.com/world/judge-lifts-trumps-white-house-ban-cnn-ms-now-politico-2026-09-24/ Sept 24 (Reuters) - A federal judge ordered US President Donald Trump on Thursday to restore White House access for journalists from CNN, MS NOW and Politico, saying his ban on the three media outlets was likely unconstitutional. In a major setback for Trump in one of his biggest battles with the media, US District Judge Tim Kelly issued his order in a lawsuit that the news organizations filed contesting the ban that the Republican president announced on September 18. Kelly ordered the Trump administration to immediately return the outlets’ press passes and blocked officials from enforcing the ban for 14 days. The judge rejected the government’s assertion that the ban was motivated by national security concerns. “The record lacks factual support for defendants’ contention that the revocation of plaintiffs’ hard passes will in fact protect national security or that national security will be endangered if the court orders their passes reinstated while this litigation proceeds,” he said, adding that Trump himself had stated the ban was due to “alleged lack of truthfulness and negativity” of the outlets’ reporting. The White House and representatives for the outlets did not immeidately respond to requests for comment. Trump had said on social media that the three outlets “shouldn’t be able to constantly write or report FICTION and LIES,” and Justice Department lawyers had sought to justify the ban on national security grounds. The three outlets sued Trump and other members of his administration in federal court in Washington on Monday, saying the ban violated the US Constitution’s First Amendment protections for free speech and a free press, as well as their due process rights. They requested a temporary restraining order that would immediately reinstate their White House access while their legal challenge plays out.

Vice President JD Vance was reportedly the anonymous White House source behind a story that President Donald Trump's administration is now pointing to as evidence for why Politico deserved to lose its White House access. The revelation, first reported Wednesday by Oliver Darcy's Status, adds a striking wrinkle to the administration's defense of its Friday decision to boot Politico from the White House grounds alongside CNN and MS NOW. The Washington Post reported just minutes earlier that the White House had identified six Politico stories in a Tuesday letter laying out its case against the outlet, accusing it of reporting that "threatened national security and/or spread falsehoods." Among the stories highlighted was a June report on negotiations to end the war in Iran, which relied on comments from an unnamed "senior administration official" who estimated the chances of reaching a preliminary agreement at between 80 and 85 percent. But according to the Post, the comments did not come from an unauthorized leak. They were made during an official press call, hosted by the White House itself, in which the administration required participating journalists to identify the speaker only as a "senior administration official." Now, Status has identified that official as Vance. >https://www.yahoo.com/news/politics/articles/jd-vance-outed-anonymous-source-224252733.html

You can tell just by looking at this guy that he associates with pedophile protectors https://www.kait8.com/2026/09/23/jonesboro-man-charged-with-44-counts-possessing-child-sexual-abuse-material/ Gregory Curtis Daffron, 35, is being held on a $250,000 cash/surety bond in the Craighead County Detention Center following his arrest on Sept. 22. According to court documents, Jonesboro police received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children regarding a Google account that had uploaded 44 videos of child sexual abuse material. Detective Adam Hampton said the videos included adults engaging in sexual activities with children as young as 5 and 6 years old. Hampton said the IP address returned to a Jonesboro residence, and it was discovered during the investigation that Daffron owned the account that uploaded the videos. On Sept. 22, the Jonesboro Police Department’s Internet Crimes Against Children Division, along with SWAT, U.S. Marshals and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, executed a search warrant at Daffron’s home and arrested him. According to the court documents, they also seized his electronic devices. During Wednesday’s 8.1 hearing, Craighead County District Court Judge Tommy Fowler said that while Daffron is facing 44 counts of possessing CSAM, more charges could be added. “That’s just what they have so far,” Fowler said. “There could be well over 100 counts.” In addition to setting his bond at $250,000, Fowler also ordered Daffron to have no internet access. Daffron is scheduled to appear in circuit court on Oct. 26.

https://www.reuters.com/world/middle-east/iran-will-make-no-nuclear-concessions-iranian-official-says-2026-09-25/ UNITED NATIONS, Sept 25 (Reuters) - Iran will show no flexibility over its nuclear program even if the United States accepts its proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, which calls for steps including the lifting of a US naval blockade on Iranian ports, a senior Iranian official told Reuters on Friday. The official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the waterway would remain closed until “all of Iran’s conditions are met” by the United States. Under Iran’s proposal, Tehran has offered to reopen the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz. Within seven days, hostilities would end on all fronts, including Lebanon, the United States would lift its blockade on Iranian ports, release Iran’s frozen funds and waive its oil sanctions, Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said on Thursday. The proposal follows a sharp escalation in Middle East tensions after seven months of war between Iran and the United States, with Iran-backed Houthi militias in Yemen launching missiles and drones at Saudi Arabia. The strait has become the central bargaining chip in efforts to end the US-Iran conflict, with Iran seeking relief from the US blockade that is choking its economy and Washington seeking free passage for ships on the global oil supply route now blocked by Tehran. In a meeting with journalists on Thursday on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said he hoped a deal with Washington to end the hostilities could be reached before the US midterm elections on November 3. Tehran said it would be prepared to engage in detailed negotiations over its nuclear program only after its conditions are met by the US. But the official said Iran would give no concessions over its rights, including enriching uranium or shipping its highly enriched uranium out of the country, one of the main US demands.

    >Pete Hegseth faces questions over unpaid transgender troops https://www.advocate.com/politics/national/unpaid-transgender-troops-answers >Seven lawmakers are demanding answers after reports that service members pushed out under Trump’s ban have waited months for promised pay. Seven House Democrats are demanding answers about delayed separation pay for transgender service members forced out under the Trump administration’s military ban. The lawmakers, all members of the Congressional Equality Caucus, sent a letter to Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth seeking an explanation after reports that some troops have waited months for the separation pay they were promised. “Since the beginning of this Administration, you and President Trump have targeted transgender servicemembers—not only kicking them out of the military but also subjecting them to constant indignities along the way,” the lawmakers wrote in the letter led by Pennsylvania Rep. Chrissy Houlahan, the top Democrat on the House Armed Services Subcommittee on Military Personnel. The six other signers include Equality Caucus Co-Chair Sarah McBride, the first transgender member of Congress; the top Democrats on the House Armed Services and Veterans’ Affairs committees, Adam Smith and Mark Takano; caucus Transgender Equality Task Force Co-Chair Sara Jacobs; and caucus Co-Chairs Eric Sorensen and Everton Blair. The letter cited reporting by The Washington Post about troops still awaiting payment months after leaving the military. Among them was Chloe Shapiro, who slept in her Honda Accord while waiting for more than $66,000 of the separation pay she was owed. Shapiro had served for more than a decade. The Post also reported on a former National Guardsman with 3-year-old twins who was waiting for $130,000, and an Air Force major who expected $340,000.

https://www.npr.org/2026/09/25/nx-s1-5976804/supreme-court-trump-save-noncitizen-voting The U.S. Supreme Court has for now revived a federal data system the Department of Homeland Security revamped into a tool to check the citizenship of millions of Americans on state voter rolls. The tool has mistakenly flagged some eligible voters as potential noncitizens. The news comes as the Trump administration has been pouring resources into searching for noncitizens on voter rolls ahead of the upcoming election. Many states uploaded their voter lists to the expanded version of the Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements data system — known as SAVE — sharing that voter information with the federal government. Tens of millions of voter records were run through SAVE before it was blocked by a federal judge in Washington, D.C., in June. The Supreme Court's decision clears the way for the administration to again use the revamped SAVE in its hunt for noncitizens on voter rolls, as well as in its unprecedented project of compiling lists of adult citizens in each state. Any impact on the midterm elections is unclear. Federal law bans states from "systematically" removing voters from rolls within 90 days of a federal election. The Trump administration and Republican state officials have made the case that the statute should not apply to removing noncitizens who were improperly registered. And the federal government argued to the Supreme Court that at a minimum, the updated SAVE should be able to be used for individual removal decisions ahead of an election.

https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cm4gjjlgzdjgo Current and former FBI agents have spoken to BBC News of their shock, fear and anger following a hack that appears to have exposed the private and personal information of the agency's entire workforce. "This is really bad for our undercover agents," says one former FBI agent, who fears for the safety of his colleagues. The former cyber investigator is in a group chat with current agents who are worried their personal information could soon be freely available online to criminals and hostile nation-state hackers. He says staff fear they could be targeted, or that criminals could use the data to create highly convincing phishing attempts, scams or demands for bribes. The hacking group ShinyHunters is threatening to publish the stolen databases and documents within four days unless its demands are met. Some agents are also concerned about the risk of physical attacks from cyber criminals they have investigated. "One of the things we are discussing in the group chat is 'violence-as-a-service' attacks from young online gangs," says the former worker. "They could use this information to harass an FBI agent who has worked on their cases." >Personal concerns Groups similar to ShinyHunters - believed to be an English-speaking gang - have in the past been linked to swatting incidents, and even petrol bomb attacks against law enforcement officers and rivals. Swatting is a phenomenon so-called because perpetrators make calls that prompt armed police units - called Swat teams in the US - to swoop in on victims. The group claims it breached FBI systems on Monday and later posted details of the attack on its darknet site. The FBI has not responded to requests for comment. However, on Wednesday the agency acknowledged the breach - saying it was "aggressively investigating" how it occurred.

A female police officer, speaking to the press at the scene, said it was a “major incident” and the area was being evacuated. The major operation comes shortly after FPCON DELTA was reportedly activated. It’s the highest force protection condition indicates that a terrorist attack has occurred or is believed to be imminent. Recently heavy machinery has also been positioned across unmanned entrances to the RAF Fairford base. Roads surrounding have been closed, with armed Ministry of Defence Police and Gloucestershire Police officers stationed outside the perimeter. Around six ambulances, including four Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) vehicles, have gathered at a rendezvous point nearby. Three fire engines and numerous fire support vehicles – including a command unit – are also at the location. The incident is believed to have started at around 1am.

https://www.nytimes.com/2026/09/27/us/politics/trump-ad-government-campaign.html As President Trump ran to return to the White House in 2024, his campaign released a somber, black-and-white ad in which he railed against the “deep state” and vowed to expel “warmongers” from government. “This is the final battle,” Mr. Trump is heard saying in the online ad, which shows him walking silently down a hallway. That ad has returned this weekend, airing on television stations across the country, with one notable difference: As it ends, the words “Paid for by the U.S. Government” appear on the screen. The spot is the latest in a series of pro-Trump ads funded by public money. Some ethics experts have argued that the Trump administration is violating federal laws banning the use of taxpayer dollars for propaganda, and the ads have drawn criticism from both parties. The most recent ad, one expert argued, is a more flagrant violation given its prior use in the political arena. “The president and his administration have gone from breaking the law to trampling it,” said Norm Eisen, a former White House special counsel for ethics and government reform under Barack Obama, who has sued the Trump administration several times. “The prior ad was bad enough, but this one openly repurposes prior political conduct.”

https://www.nytimes.com/2026/09/27/us/politics/washington-state-millionaires-tax.html Voters in Washington State will soon be asked to decide which they resent more: rich people or new taxes. At issue is the state’s new “millionaires tax,” a 9.9 percent tax on income over $1 million a year that is expected to bring in more than $3 billion annually and, in the process, ease if not solve the state’s ongoing fiscal problems. Critics want voters to repeal it and bar state leaders from imposing income taxes in the future, arguing the millionaires tax will drive out wealthy entrepreneurs and eventually lead to income taxes on everyone else. “The goal is to put an income tax on every Washingtonian,” former United States Representative Jaime Herrera Beutler, a Republican, said at a recent news conference organized by one of the campaigns working to repeal the tax. “Don’t let them fool you.” The November election will test how voters feel about taxing the rich up and down the West Coast. In California, voters are considering both a “millionaire tax” and a “billionaire tax.” The less debated proposal asks voters to make permanent a temporary income tax hike on couples who earn at least $743,000 a year. Voters will also decide whether to approve a new wealth tax on people with at least $1 billion in assets, a proposal that has generated enormous blowback from wealthy residents as well as teachers and health care interests who fear it will damage the state budget.

Her message to voters: As Maine’s senior senator, she brings jobs and money to the people of Bath. This month, Collins appeared at that same shipyard, shaking hands with some of the 6,000 workers who assemble vessels for the U.S. Navy. Before she departed, a group of workers delivered her a letter, signed by over 100 employees, thanking her for her work in Washington. As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, she has helped secure more than $10 billion in Navy contracts for the yard since 2020, according to her office. Now, as Collins faces a tight reelection race against Democrat Troy Jackson, allegations involving a different defense contractor are putting her broader record of steering money to Maine under scrutiny and raising a politically charged question: Where does Collins’s aggressive advocacy on behalf of Mainers end and improper influence begin? This week, the nonprofit newsroom ProPublica disclosed that FBI agents had examined allegations that campaign contributions benefiting Collins were connected to federal contracts sought by a Hawaii-based defense company.

https://thehill.com/homenews/house/6112471-democrats-to-confront-netanyahu-israel-west-bank/ If they flip the House, Democrats say they’re ready to confront Israel on human rights. The issue has long challenged the party, pitting staunch Israel defenders against more liberal lawmakers critical of Israel’s treatment of Palestinians. Democratic leaders have taken pains to avoid legislation that might highlight those divisions. But heading into the midterms, when Democrats are expected to win control of the lower chamber, party leaders now say they’re preparing to confront head-on Benjamin Netanyahu, Israel’s prime minister, when it comes to Palestinian autonomy and broader issues of human rights. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.), who’s in line to become Speaker if the House changes hands, is pointing to one area in particular that Democrats intend to tackle: the rise of settler violence in the West Bank. “That cannot continue,” Jeffries told reporters last week in the Capitol. Jeffries and his top deputies — Reps. Sponsored by Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-N.Y.), a prominent Jewish lawmaker, the proposal is formally endorsed by 174 House Democrats, and Jeffries suggested it would be a priority next year if Democrats control the chamber.

The European Commission fined X late last year for breaches of the bloc’s landmark digital regulations, stoking tensions with Washington. The U.S. Justice Department said Thursday that it had filed an application to support X’s bid to have the case annulled at the European Union’s General Court. It was the second time in three months that the Justice Department has intervened to defend a company owned by Musk. In July, the Justice Department filed a motion to intervene in a civil rights lawsuit that alleges Musk’s xAI is illegally running dozens of natural gas turbines to power a $20 billion AI data center in Mississippi. In that case, the NAACP and other groups said xAI failed to get a permit for its power plant — which is located near homes, schools and churches — creating health risks for families in North Mississippi and nearby Memphis and violating the federal Clean Air Act. Trump and the world’s richest businessman appeared to dial down a war of words that stunned Washington and Wall Street alike last year after Musk called Trump’s tax breaks and spending cuts a “disgusting abomination.”

Media commentators in the MAGA movement shredded Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders on Monday over a new TV ad depicting white male gamers as the target of a state welfare fraud crackdown — and claimed the Republican hadn't injected enough race into her messaging. Drawing the ire of the right: Sanders' promotion of new work requirements for Natural State welfare recipients, featuring a tousle-headed gamer named "Brad," shown in the advert mashing a video game controller and scarfing potato chips. "Brad has turned relaxing into a full-time profession," Sanders tells voters in the ad. "But you, you actually work hard. You pay taxes to cover welfare for guys like Brad who just choose not to work." Republicans and conservatives eyeing greater restrictions on welfare recipients have repeatedly invoked the image of a gamer, typically young and male, when speaking about Americans they say abuse government benefits. But Sanders' cheese ball-munching "Brad" proved especially offensive to far-right commentators. The dustup targeting Sanders, a longtime Trump loyalist and former White House press secretary during his first term, illustrates how achieving long-standing conservative policy goals — like work requirements for government aid recipients — is often not enough for identity-obsessed MAGA allies, who want to display dominance over their perceived political enemies far more than they want to fix the nuts and bolts of governance. Conservative podcast host Matt Walsh claimed the number of single white men on welfare was "minuscule" and "practically non-existent." "Meanwhile, back in reality, women are significantly more likely to be on welfare than men," Walsh fumed in a reply to Sanders posted to twitter. "And black people are astronomically more likely to be on welfare than white people." https://www.yahoo.com/news/politics/articles/wingers-mad-anti-welfare-ad-190440973.html

The concession comes after months of claiming the exact opposite. https://www.huffpost.com/entry/trump-iran-war-not-over_n_6ababc2ee4b0cdca1abdc2fa WASHINGTON ― After having claimed dozens of times during the spring and summer that his war against Iran was effectively over and that he had won it, President Donald Trump is now admitting that neither assertion was true. For the second time in as many days, Trump on Monday said his war that began seven months ago today is still ongoing. “We’re going to win that war very soon,” he told reporters during an Oval Office photo opportunity. The message was the same the day previous, in an interview with Fox News during his visit to a golf tournament outside Chicago. “I think what’s going to happen is we’re going to win the war very soon,” he said. The statements come after the several dozens of times in recent months that Trump has claimed the war was essentially already over. They reflect a new effort by Trump and the GOP to convince angry midterm election voters that the war ― and the price hikes that have accompanied it ― will end soon. “Let me tell you, we’ve won. You know, you never like to say too early you won. We won. We won the ― in the first hour, it was over,” he bragged at a March 11 rally in Kentucky. On numerous other occasions, Trump has said a peace deal was days or even hours away, or that he could secure such an agreement because Iran was “begging” for one. “They’re willing to give us everything,” he said at a June 8 speech in South Carolina, in which he also claimed he would “declare total victory” in the next two weeks. Trump’s White House did not respond to HuffPost queries asking why the president was now changing his analysis about the war and who had won it.

https://newrepublic.com/post/215971/jack-smith-proof-beyond-reasonable-doubt-donald-trump-guilt Former special counsel Jack Smith swears that President Donald Trump committed “serious crimes.” In his opening remarks to the Senate Judiciary Committee Tuesday, Smith reiterated the findings of his two indictments against the president of the United States. “Our investigation developed proof beyond a reasonable doubt that President Trump engaged in serious crimes against our nation,” Smith said. “If asked whether to prosecute a former president today based on the same facts, I would do so regardless of whether that president was a Republican or a Democrat.” “The charges against President Trump were the result of the evidence. Grand juries in two separate districts reached this conclusion based on his actions, as alleged in the indictments they returned. Rather than accept his defeat in the 2020 presidential election, President Trump engaged in a criminal scheme to overturn the results and prevent the lawful transfer of power.” “After leaving office in January of 2021, President Trump illegally kept classified documents at his Mar-a-Lago social club and repeatedly tried to obstruct justice to conceal his continued retention of those documents. Highly sensitive national security information was held in a bathroom and ballroom where events and gatherings took place,” he said. Smith’s team determined that Trump kept a hold on those documents in order to help advance his business interests. The former special counsel’s statements were practically identical to his January testimony before the House Judiciary Committee that his investigations uncovered proof “beyond a reasonable doubt” that Trump had engaged in criminal activity. In December, Smith testified for eight hours in a closed-door hearing before the House committee. He has long sought to testify in a public hearing, but was rebuffed by Republicans until Tuesday in favor of one behind closed doors.

Right Wing Law: Every accusation they make is a confession https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/congress/senator-eric-schmitt-jack-smith-basketball-perjury-rcna600546 His slam dunk was a brick. Sen. Eric Schmitt, R-Mo., accused former special counsel Jack Smith on Tuesday of committing perjury when he denied having attended a specific Atlanta Hawks basketball game in 2024 — to Smith’s apparent confusion. The attempted trick play happened during a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on Smith’s now-scuttled investigations into President Donald Trump. But it soon emerged that Schmitt had the wrong team. “Did you go to an NBA game between the Golden State Warriors and the Atlanta Hawks on Feb. 3, 2024?” Schmitt asked. “What city would that be in?” a confused-looking Smith replied. “Atlanta,” Schmitt responded. “No,” Smith responded. Schmitt pressed him again about whether he was in Atlanta on that date and then said he’d give him some “context” — it was the day after Fani Willis, the district attorney of Fulton County, Georgia, “came clean” about her romantic relationship with a prosecutor in her then-pending criminal case against Trump. “The next day were you in Atlanta?” Schmitt continued. “I do not believe so,” Smith responded. “I definitely did not go to a Hawks game. I’m sure of that.” Schmitt then asked whether he ever met with the local prosecutors in Atlanta who charged Trump. “No,” Smith said. “What would you say if I had a series of text messages from your team that said you were in Atlanta, at a Warrior-Hawks game, on Feb. 3, 2024, the day after Willis and [Nathan] Wade announced their affair?” Schmitt continued as a staffer held up a poster board that had three text messages about Smith’s going to an event. The staffer quickly took the poster down as Smith looked on, appearing confused. “I don’t think you know that we have this stuff, so I’ll give you a second to process it so you don’t perjure yourself,” Schmitt said.

That includes the recently deployed USS Theodore Roosevelt carrier strike group and the USS Makin Island amphibious readiness group. It could mean three carriers are in the region as early as the end of October, according to the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive military operations. That would be an unusually high U.S. naval presence of more than 20,000 sailors and Marines and hundreds of aircraft. It comes as the war with Iran stretches past seven months. The Navy previously had three carriers in the Middle East in April -- the first time since 2003. The USS George H.W. https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cqg7k7v499jjo Vladimir Putin has said Russia will use all weapons at his disposal if it considers its Baltic exclave of Kaliningrad to have come under direct attack. The Russian president insisted that Moscow was "not threatening anyone" and merely responding to statements by Western leaders that it was preparing for war in 2029 or 2030. Throughout this week, Russia has accused Nato of preparing to blockade its territory, which borders Lithuania and Poland, warning that it would even be prepared to use nuclear weapons if the West tried to cut off Kaliningrad from the rest of Russia. Nato has sought to calm the situation, stressing that it was a defensive alliance and urging Moscow to stop its "nuclear threats". Western allies have faced a surge in so-called hybrid warfare incidents blamed on Russia, particularly in Poland and the Baltics in recent months. Last week alone, Poland said a Russian helicopter had strayed into its territory adjacent to Kaliningrad and Lithuania said its population felt "constantly threatened" by Russia, in part because of drones entering the nation's airspace. German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said on Thursday that his country was preparing for further hybrid attacks, "including serious ones", after a drone armed with explosives was found in August on the tarmac at Leipzig airport close to Ukrainian cargo planes. In a wide-ranging speech at the Valdai foreign policy forum, Putin told his audience that he believed that international conflicts were highly likely to continue, but would get better as "Western hegemony" weakened. Although the Russian leader himself began the full-scale war in Ukraine in February 2022, he again blamed the West for provoking the invasion, arguing that Moscow had simply been forced to defend itself and take up arms.

https://www.city-journal.org/article/san-francisco-taxpayer-funded-houses-sex-offenders It’s Tuesday morning at Little Learners Daycare in downtown San Francisco. Teacher Wendy herds bright-eyed toddlers, amped up after playtime in the courtyard, back inside. They’re laughing and swatting at each other playfully, oblivious to the pack of pedophiles lurking nearby. Four hundred feet away, dozens of registered sex offenders live at 111 Taylor Street. Wendy knew that the Tenderloin, where she operates her Mandarin-immersion daycare, was dangerous. It’s a hotbed for illegal drug activity and homelessness. But she didn’t realize that sex offenders live so close to her daycare—or that taxpayers fund their housing. According to this City Journal investigation, more than 25 percent of sex offenders in San Francisco with addresses in the Megan’s Law database live in taxpayer-subsidized buildings. Many live near a park, school, or daycare, or reside in a neighborhood with a high concentration of children. They do all of this despite statewide efforts to ban concentrating pedophiles so close to children. Instead of listening to California voters, San Francisco has become a taxpayer-funded dumping ground for sex criminals. The Taylor Street Center is one of San Francisco’s most heavily populated sex-offender residences. Located in the Tenderloin, Taylor Street houses at least 31 registered sex offenders. The taxpayer-funded California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation and the federal Bureau of Prisons contract the private GEO Group to run the facility. The reentry complex can house 240 people. It hosts specialized programs for residents like “cultural diversity education,” “gender-responsive groups,” and a “weekly meditation group.” The facility sits just 400 feet from a daycare center, 1,000 feet from a fourth-to-eighth-grade school, and five blocks away from a preschool. The neighborhood also has the highest concentration of kids in the entire city.

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/aocs-dramatic-retelling-cornell-rape-allegations-collides-complaint-details Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., painted a far more sweeping picture of a Cornell University sexual assault case than what's alleged in the underlying civil complaint, while also making claims the university disputes. Speaking during a town hall hosted by More Perfect University on Sunday in Ithaca, New York, Ocasio-Cortez addressed allegations outlined in a civil complaint filed last month by a former Cornell student identified as Jane Doe, who alleges she was drugged and sexually assaulted by multiple fraternity members in October 2024. "Seven men drugged and gang raped a 20-year-old woman," Ocasio-Cortez said. "They lured her in to a fraternity house," she continued. "They drugged her with ketamine. They then posted to a group chat that she was incapacitated, and seven men took turns gang raping her for seven hours." "Their fraternity knew. This was reported to Cornell University. And after looking into this matter, they expelled two of them and made the rest write essays as their form of punishment," Ocasio-Cortez said. "I want to be clear that the culture of rape, sexual assault, and pedophilia is protected in elite institutions across the United States and including Cornell University in this instance. It has got to stop." Cornell has disputed Ocasio-Cortez's characterization of the disciplinary action, saying expulsions and suspensions were issued and that no respondent was required to write an essay as the sole consequence. The civil complaint alleges that several students who received temporary suspensions were given an opportunity to mitigate their conduct by submitting essays to the university.

Instead, they were met by undercover detectives. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has lodged detainer requests for the four suspects. They were identified as: El Hadji Babacar Ndiaye, a Senegalese citizen who was caught and released at the southern border in September 2023 in Lukeville, Arizona, by the Biden administration; Lucky Philip Udoudo, a Nigerian citizen who entered the U.S. as a gotaway at an unknown time and location; Filomeno Ricardo Flores Marin, a Mexican citizen who entered the U.S. illegally in Arizona in 2002; and David Josue Gomez-Posada, a Salvadoran citizen who came into the U.S. illegally in 2017 as a juvenile. "We are calling on Indiana to honor our detainers," a DHS spokesperson told Fox News. "All of their claims will be heard by an immigration judge, and they will receive due process. https://thehill.com/homenews/administration/6124669-trump-xi-mamdani-gop-concerns/ President Trump’s appearances with Chinese President Xi Jinping, New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani (D) and leaders from Silicon Valley risk turning off his political base just as Republicans are seeking to turbocharge turnout ahead of the midterms, say GOP strategists. The president has always loved meeting with the powerful, even if they are dictators or democratic socialists, as it makes headlines and highlights his own stature. Trump was the first president to meet with North Korea leader Kim Jong Un, and he met with Russian President Vladimir Putin last year. He had a memorable buddy-buddy term in the Oval Office with Mamdani last November, even as his party sought to vilify the liberal mayor. To many Republicans, the latest meetings are a danger. “Frankly, it’s inexplicable,” one unnamed Republican strategist said. “Not because as president you shouldn’t meet with the Chinese president or event the mayor of New York, but given their toxicity with the base that you were desperate to try to turnout at higher than normal levels to try and offset your vulnerabilities with every other layer of the November turnout populace.” “You need to fire up your base and instead you’re kind of deflating them in the homestretch,” the strategist added. Trump hosted his Chinese counterpart last week for a lavish state visit at the White House. That meeting came after Mamdani hosted Trump at Gracie Mansion in New York City. On Tuesday, Trump invited several tech leaders to the White House for a luncheon on artificial intelligence before appearing with them on the White House North Lawn for an impromptu news conference. Polling shows that the president’s base views China with skepticism.

https://apnews.com/article/dengue-virus-outbreak-florida-7f0bda2b0a1e7895e834010f38cedb1e NEW YORK (AP) — Florida’s current dengue outbreak appears to be the largest in several decades in the continental United States. State health officials reported this week that more than 250 locally acquired cases of the mosquito-borne disease have been tallied so far this year. The vast majority of them were in Hillsborough County, home to Tampa. Federal health officials say their data on dengue outbreaks is limited. But available information from state health departments and medical journals suggests the Florida outbreak marks the most cases in a calendar year for any state since at least the 1940s. Puerto Rico is consistently hit hard by dengue, with numbers much higher than what’s seen in any of the 50 states. But in the continental U.S., Florida usually gets the most locally transmitted cases. The state’s previous worst year was 2023, when just under 200 locally spread cases were reported. Officials in Hillsborough and surrounding counties have declared local emergencies, and workers in the Tampa area are spraying day and night to tamp down the population of disease-transmitting mosquitoes. >What is dengue? Dengue (pronounced DEHN’-gay) is caused by a virus spread by a type of mosquito. Many infected people don’t get sick, but some experience fever, flu-like symptoms and — notoriously — aches. It’s been nicknamed “breakbone fever” for the excruciating pain some people experience. Severe cases can cause bleeding, shock and death. There has been one dengue death in Florida this year — an elderly Tampa woman on Sept. 4.

But instead of empathizing with Americans’ economic pains and fears about the future, the vice president leaned into fear-mongering about Democrats. Vance spoke with Fox’s Sean Hannity in an interview that aired Thursday, and leaned into the administration’s successes at driving illegal crossings at the U.S.-Mexico border to 50-year lows as he made the case for the GOP. As he spoke about the supposed priorities of hypothetical Democratic majorities in the House and Senate, however, Vance claimed that his opponents wanted to block Republicans from ever winning elections again and “transform” America, citing such issues as acceptance of transgender Americans. He claimed those reasons were why Americans should not “gripe” about the “little things” like gas prices nearing their Covid-era highs, U.S. casualties in the war against Iran and high cost of living issues, and give Republicans two more years to attempt to fix things. “This is not the time to sort of gripe about all the little things. There are obviously — I think every single person who voted for us in 2024 could find something where they wish maybe congressional Republicans had gone further,” said Vance. “But the challenge here is between Democrats who want to destroy the country, who want to permanently disempower you, make it so even if you vote Republican your vote doesn’t actually count anymore. And Republicans, who fundamentally are trying to solve the problems that Democrats under Joe Biden created. That is the choice.”

https://oilprice.com/Energy/Energy-General/Middle-East-Oil-Exports-Stage-a-Remarkable-Comeback.html Exports of crude oil from the Middle East hit their highest level in September since the war with Iran began, reinforcing a trend of increased supplies despite Iranian attacks on shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, according to analysis of shipping and commodity market data by industry observers. "More oil is coming out of the Middle East Gulf than many expected that would be possible even just a few months ago," Richard Meade, chief editor of Lloyds List, told an online briefing on October 1. Lloyds List data shows a steady upward curve of crude tanker transits through the Strait of Hormuz since mid-July, following a sharp fall that coincided with the collapse of the US-Iran memorandum of understanding aimed at ending the conflict, now in its eighth month. Investment bank JP Morgan said Middle East crude exports in September were at 98 percent of pre-war levels, describing it as "a remarkable recovery for a region still at war." Commodities analytics firm Kpler reported Saudi oil exports were at average levels for 2025, while maritime intelligence company Windward said Saudi terminals loaded four times more oil than in August -- a big increase but still nearly 40 percent lower than in January. There appear to be a number of factors behind the revival, including the Saudi East-West oil pipeline, the use of oil shuttles and ship-to-ship oil transfers, and a willingness by some in the industry to accept higher risk. The Saudi pipeline, which pumps its crude to the Yanbu port on the Red Sea to bypass the Strait of Hormuz, was damaged in an attack by Iran-aligned Houthi militants on September 10. An uptick in shipments from Yanbu later in the month, however, suggested the pipeline had regained at least some of its lost operational capacity.

On weekends, they drive into the Sonoran Desert outside Phoenix. I watched them line up AR-15s and AK-style rifles against their cars, pose for photos and spend the afternoon shooting targets. At night, they head to parties, smoke pot and scroll endlessly through their social media feeds. These teenagers are part of a growing network of American high school students and young adults that are helping to arm some of Mexico’s most powerful and violent cartels, according to U.S. officials and trafficking experts who are tracking the trend. They source weapons ranging like handguns and high-caliber rifles, and sell them almost exclusively to cartel operatives based in the United States, the teenagers said. In repeated interviews, four weapons traffickers ages 16 to 19 — all current or former high school students in west Phoenix — allowed me to observe how they buy firearms and sell them to the highest bidder. Sometimes, they said, they steal the guns and then resell them. They aren’t loyal to one criminal group or another; instead, they say, they are motivated by making money, gaining status and having a sense of belonging. The American teenagers spoke on the condition of anonymity because of the illegal nature of their activities. Their identities were corroborated through their official identification documents. I observed gun transactions unfold in real time through encrypted WhatsApp group chats and Telegram channels. Other elements of their accounts were corroborated by current and former U.S. law enforcement agents and trafficking experts.

Inside the House GOP, Republicans have watched with alarm as President Donald Trump’s approval ratings have sunk in their own internal polling — including on traditionally red turf — over the last two weeks, according to more than a dozen people familiar with the discussions. Now, the House GOP is entering triage mode. Republicans are discussing pulling money from once-competitive races they see as too difficult to win, including Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks in Iowa, Rep. Tom Kean in New Jersey and an open seat in Nebraska, according to three people familiar with the talks. But the GOP does have a huge cash advantage, and not all Republicans are pessimistic. Speaker Mike Johnson is “absolutely still convinced” that he can hang onto the House and is not taking any seats “off his board,” according to a political aide. Johnson just returned from New Jersey and is planning a rally with Miller-Meeks in Iowa next week, according to his team. The House GOP’s campaign arm, too, strenuously denies that the majority is lost. “Thirty days out, House Republicans are on offense, and we’re outspending Democrats in the final stretch in every race,” National Republican Congressional Committee spokesperson Will Kiley said in a statement, adding, “House Republicans are going to defy history, and we’re going to win.”

Over the course of his two terms to date, Trump has appointed 31 people in their 30s to federal judgeships, and at least two more are pending in the Senate, according to a POLITICO analysis of government data. By contrast, President Joe Biden appointed 13 people in their 30s. President Barack Obama appointed just nine judges younger than 40 during his two terms. A judge in his or her 30s can remain in place for as long as 60 years — there are multiple sitting judges in their 90s and one who is 102 — allowing the president who appointed them to leave a particularly long-lasting imprint on the courts. “President Trump selects highly-qualified and credentialed judicial nominees who have passed the White House’s rigorous vetting process. Wherever there are judicial vacancies, President Trump will select highly qualified nominees with great respect for our Constitution and rule of law to be confirmed expeditiously,” White House spokesperson Lauren Bis said. Trump’s young nominees include Samuel Adkisson, an associate in the White House Counsel’s Office who was 33 when Trump nominated him — making him one of the youngest people ever nominated to the federal bench. In his social media post announcing Adkisson’s nomination, which is currently pending in the Senate, Trump praised his work on a case that resulted in the Supreme Court widening the president’s power to control executive branch agencies.

The Okinawa prefectural police said they arrested a 20-year-old Marine stationed at the Futenma Air Station on suspicion of killing a 39-year-old local woman at a hotel in Naha, Okinawa’s capital city, and taking her wallet and backpack in the early hours of Saturday. Kyodo News agency, citing the police, reported the woman’s body was found in her hotel room and she appeared to have been strangled to death. Police said security camera footage showed the man believed to be the suspect entering the hotel with the victim and coming out alone. An officer arrested the suspect after spotting him walking alone on a street in Naha’s entertainment district late Saturday, Kyodo said. “The case deals a major shock and adds fear to the Okinawans who have already been forced to live next to U.S. bases,” newly elected Okinawa Gov. Genta Koja told reporters. “It is absolutely unforgivable and we are outraged.” “I must say, discipline and troop education are not working at all,” said Koja, referring to the U.S. military’s measures taken in response to past criminal cases.

https://abcnews.com/Politics/wireStory/dennis-hastert-longtime-republican-house-speaker-prison-dies-137003116 CHICAGO -- Dennis Hastert, the nation’s longest-serving Republican House speaker, who helped turn much of President George W. Bush’s agenda into law before his own political legacy was forever fouled by allegations that he molested high school athletes when he was a wrestling coach, died over the weekend, a coroner said Monday. He was 84. Hastert, who was speaker from 1999 until 2007, died of natural causes at his home, according to Kendall County Coroner Jacquie Purcell. When he was sentenced in 2016 to more than a year behind bars, the former history teacher became one of the highest-ranking American politicians ever ordered to prison. In the late 1990s, Hastert was a little-known Illinois lawmaker with a reputation for congeniality that had helped him ascend the ranks of congressional leaders. When Newt Gingrich lost support because of ethics violations and the GOP’s poor showing in an election, Republicans elected Hastert to succeed him. In his first weeks on the job, he presided over the House while the Senate conducted Bill Clinton’s impeachment trial. After the GOP reclaimed the White House, Hastert took much of what Bush proposed and steered it to passage, including massive tax cuts and a measure that amounted to a huge expansion of prescription drug benefits — the biggest change in Medicare in decades.

It’s a business he might soon have to give up. America’s multibillion-dollar market for impairing hemp products — from THC seltzers sold at some Target stores to smokable cannabis flowers, and different from the regulated legal marijuana industry — faces potential elimination after Congress voted to close a loophole in federal law that has allowed it to flourish. Advocates for the industry, along with some lawmakers, are fighting to save it. The short-term government-funding bill signed by President Donald Trump last month delayed the effective date of the “hemp THC ban” from Nov. 12 to Dec. 11, giving Congress more time to consider regulating the products rather than banning them. “It’s such a weird spot to be in,” said Hohns. “You worked 100 hours a week for the past four years, and, yeah, you made some money. But now you might have nothing to show for it.”

In an instant, a drone crashed through the ceiling and exploded, killing Marzan, who had served in the military for 36 years. The force flung soldiers into the air, fragments of sheet metal and glass shards impaling them. The tin roof was peeled back “like opening up a sardine can,” one soldier recalled. Six soldiers were killed and dozens were injured in the deadliest known strike on U.S. troops since Operation Epic Fury commenced on Feb. 28.

Applicants must have an associate’s degree or at least 60 college credits and either reside at Cayuga Correctional Facility or qualify to transfer there. The School of Continuing Education will oversee admissions and is developing an application process adapted to the prison’s paper-based environment. The new degree expands CPEP, which was founded in 2001 by Prof. Emeritus Pete Wetherbee, literatures in English. Through its partnership with SUNY Cayuga Community College, CPEP students have earned credits toward associate’s degrees, with advanced students being able to earn Cornell’s certificate in liberal arts.

https://www.npr.org/2026/10/04/nx-s1-5987757/lanterns-finale-hbo Superhero action fans waiting for a sprawling, special effects-laden fight scene to cap the percolating drama of HBO's Lanterns will likely be disappointed by the hit show's brooding, measured season finale. Instead, what producers delivered Sunday night was a simmering meditation on parents and children, fear and love, ruthlessness versus kindness. And in the process, they wrapped up a season that revitalized and reinvented what a modern superhero story can do on the small screen. Lanterns has become an unlikely hit for HBO, centered on the Green Lantern — a character with many iterations in comics books and animated features, but a somewhat more checkered history in live action. Famously, the Green Lantern film starring a pre-superstardom Ryan Reynolds tanked so hard he joked about it in the superhero franchise he finally got right, Deadpool. From the beginning, Lanterns producers had a challenge: How to take a concept that sounds cartoonish on its face — space cops given one of the greatest weapons in the universe, a power ring capable of conjuring anything, by blue-skinned immortal Guardians — and make it feel real, with human stakes. And they had to do it while also showcasing several different characters who have worn the mantle of Green Lantern on Earth. The solution was aping one of HBO's other unlikely hits: True Detective. So Friday Night Lights icon Kyle Chandler was tapped to play Hal Jordan, the most famous Lantern — depicted in this story as the first human to join the galactic Green Lantern Corps. He starts as a square-jawed hero, but as the meat of Lanterns' story unfolds in 2016, Jordan is a grizzled adventurer near burnout — forced to work with an aspiring backup Lantern he fears has been recruited to replace him, Aaron Pierre's John Stewart.

https://www.yahoo.com/news/politics/articles/polls-put-democrats-position-senate-221055199.html With less than a month until Election Day, Democrats are seeing some of their strongest signs yet that the Senate majority is within reach. A new batch of YouGov polls released Oct. 6 shows Democratic candidates, or an independent who caucuses against Republicans, leading in six of seven closely watched Senate races. The surveys suggest several GOP-held seats in states considered Republican strongholds, including Texas, Ohio, Kansas and Nebraska, have become competitive as Republicans work to defend their 53-47 majority. Democrats need a net gain of four seats to reclaim control of the chamber. While many of the contests remain within the margin of error, the latest polling points to multiple potential pickup opportunities for a party trying to overcome a difficult Senate map. Good signs for Democrats The biggest surprise may be in Texas, where Democratic state Rep. James Talarico leads Republican Attorney General Ken Paxton by 6 percentage points in a state Democrats have not won statewide since 1994. In Ohio, former Sen. Sherrod Brown is ahead of Republican Sen. Jon Husted by 4 points as he seeks a return to Washington after losing his seat in 2024. Kansas is another unexpectedly competitive race. Democrat Adam Hamilton leads incumbent Republican Sen. Roger Marshall by 3 points, according to the YouGov survey. Some of the closest contests are in Michigan and Nebraska. Democrat Abdul El-Sayed holds a 1-point edge over Republican Mike Rogers in Michigan, while independent Dan Osborn leads incumbent Republican Sen. Pete Ricketts by 1 point in Nebraska. Democrats appear to have their largest advantage in New Hampshire, where Rep. Chris Pappas leads Republican John Sununu by 8 percentage points. Florida was the lone bright spot for Republicans among the seven races surveyed. Sen. Ashley Moody holds a 5-point lead over Democratic challenger Angie Nixon.

Utah will become first state to let AI examine patients and prescribe medication without direct human oversight https://www.techspot.com/news/114111-utah-become-first-state-ai-examine-patients-prescribe.html Being a doctor is one of the jobs expected to be least at risk from AI replacement. But a new program launched in Utah is raising questions over that assumption. A healthcare startup will begin offering AI examinations and prescriptions to patients without direct human oversight, making Utah the first state to replace a doctor with an AI. The good news is that the program is currently very limited in its scope. It's just one year long and only for patients with mild-to-moderate acne. The process works when a person signs up for Nolla Health's $4.99-per-month app and uses it to scan their face. After completing a medical history and personal information form, the AI analyzes their skin, identifies the acne problem, rates the skin's oiliness, and then generates a numerical acne severity score that ranges between clear skin and severe acne, reports Bloomberg. The AI then combines that score with the provided medical information to recommend medication from a list of eight approved treatments. While the program will eventually become fully automated, the first 100 prescriptions will have to be reviewed by actual doctors before they are submitted to the pharmacy. In the second phase, the next 400 patients will have their prescriptions submitted to pharmacies by the AI and reviewed retrospectively by a physician weekly.

A war that was intended to demonstrate the reach of American power has now done the opposite. It is a lesson in unintended consequences. https://www.nytimes.com/2026/10/07/us/politics/trump-iran-retreat.html To hear President Trump and his aides describe it, the rush to withdraw 12 B-1 bombers from an air base in Britain over the weekend was a prudent precaution, in response to a threat they refused to describe. It was no big deal, Mr. Trump insisted, and his secretary of state, Marco Rubio, tried to wave it away by noting that the Pentagon is “constantly reallocating resources where they need to be.” But to anyone watching the deployment of American power around the globe in the seven months since Mr. Trump decided to attack Iran, it was another glaring example of how, time after time, Mr. Trump and his defense secretary, Pete Hegseth, have been forced into retreat, pulling back military forces that had been deployed to the Middle East and Britain as a deterrent. Over the past several months, as the conflict has dragged on, the Iran war has come to reveal enormous new American vulnerabilities, forcing changes that the Pentagon was not contemplating a year ago. But it has also proved a bitter lesson in the unintended consequences that have flowed from Mr. Trump’s war of choice. Mr. Trump intended the attack on Iran as another demonstration of the American military’s extraordinary power, following the successful bombing raid on three Iranian nuclear sites in June 2025 and the seizure of President Nicolás Maduro of Venezuela from his bed in Caracas in January.

https://apnews.com/article/fcc-political-robocalls-artificial-intelligence-ai-midterms-b97fb6e8d06704dc043556dba25de548 WASHINGTON (AP) — The Federal Communications Commission is considering a request by a conservative group to loosen rules on political robocalls, including those with artificial intelligence-generated voices, before November’s midterm elections. Federal law currently bans most robocalls to cellphones unless the caller gets consent beforehand. The petition calls for a waiver that would allow political groups to use artificial or prerecorded voices in unsolicited wireless calls. The Republican-led FCC advanced the request for public comment and could rule on it as soon as late October. Consumer advocacy groups warn the proposed change could trigger a surge of unwanted, partisan and potentially misleading automated calls in the critical final days of the election, which will determine which party controls Congress for the final two years of President Donald Trump’s term. The potential perils became evident two years ago during the presidential primary season when thousands of voters in New Hampshire received a robocall with an AI-generated voice of then-President Joe Biden. The call suggested voters should forgo casting a ballot in the primary and “save” their votes for the general election. Under the waiver request before the FCC, some state and federal laws protecting against deception and voter intimidation would continue to prohibit certain misleading election-related messages. But granting it could weaken a major deterrent for bad actors, said Tim Harper, who leads the elections team at the Washington-based Center for Democracy and Technology. Such a ruling close to Election Day would open “a huge opportunity for abuse during a period where harm has outsized impact,” he said. “Campaigns will use this technology to target voters in deceptive ways.”

They keep threatening to do things to help America if they're not elected, how stupid are they? https://www.nydailynews.com/2026/10/08/mike-johnson-may-step-down-democrats-win-house/ Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson Thursday hinted he could quit Congress if Democrats win the House of Representatives in the upcoming midterm elections. With Democrats favored to retake control of the House, Johnson sounded very much undecided on whether he would stick around as GOP minority leader for the next two years. “Heaven forbid, if we lose this majority or whatever, I don’t know what my next chapter of life is,” Johnson said in an interview with Fox News. Johnson previously refused to address a hypothetical scenario of Republicans’ losing the midterms and projected confidence. This time, he floated the idea of returning to Louisiana and perhaps leaving the political arena altogether. “If God moves on our hearts and says we should, you know, go back to my hometown of Shreveport and start a lawn business, I’ll do that with equal fervor,” he said. “I mean, I just want to be of my highest and best use to God and to my country.” The startlingly candid admission by Johnson only underlines the desperate political climate congressional Republicans are facing in the final month before election day on Nov. 3. With Trump’s approval ratings at historic lows, most nonpartisan pundits say Democrats are almost certain to flip the handful of seats it would take to retake the House and install Brooklyn’s Rep. Major TV networks were notified on Friday that the department was looking into whether they violated antitrust laws when they suspended pool coverage of President Trump. https://www.nytimes.com/2026/10/10/business/media/trump-justice-department-tv-networks.html The Justice Department is investigating whether the major television networks — ABC, CBS, CNN, NBC and Fox News — violated federal antitrust laws when the group briefly suspended their pooled coverage of President Trump, according to six people with knowledge of the department’s action. Officials from the Justice Department contacted networks on Friday and demanded communications and materials related to the White House TV pool, the people said. The pool is a longstanding system where the networks share the responsibility of providing footage of the president and distributing it to other news outlets. Last month, the networks collectively suspended their pool footage of Mr. Trump for several days after the president barred CNN journalists from the White House grounds, which prevented CNN from participating in the pool. The inquiry by the Justice Department is a profound escalation of the Trump administration’s ongoing battles with the White House press corps. It also follows a pattern of the Trump administration using the levers of government against its perceived foes in the media. The Justice Department has subpoenaed reporters from The New York Times and seized a laptop from a Washington Post journalist. A Justice Department spokeswoman, Emily Covington, said in a statement on Saturday: “Members of the television press pool have proudly boycotted covering White House events. Cloudflare reports that bot traffic from the Yandex network has dropped to just 0.4% of the maximum number of HTTP requests recorded in the past two weeks. It initially dropped to around 57% on Oct. 8, which happened when Ukraine hit a Yandex data center housing two supercomputers in Sasovo, Russia, located around 195 miles to the southeast of the Kremlin. A second, bigger Yandex campus in Kaluga, about 220 miles to the west of Sasovo, was knocked offline yesterday. These attacks are apparently Ukraine’s response to Moscow’s strikes on its own data centers, some of which resulted in the outage of some of the most popular piracy websites. Yandex is Russia’s equivalent to Google, and its Yandex Cloud service status reports that at least 84 services are currently offline. Global internet monitoring firm NetBlocks said that Yandex’s network traffic has dropped to just 30% for Yandex Cloud and 63% for Yandex LLC, most likely resulting in slower internet services or complete disruption for the average Russian. Unfortunately, the ordinary Russian wouldn’t be able to use high-speed satellite internet as a backup, as Starlink does not work in Russia, while the competing Rassvet constellation has had a good number of its existing satellites fall back to the surface after launch.

Something like that ... We have to. We should have before I get out,” he said. Last year, he renamed the Gulf of Mexico as the Gulf of America. In August, he also renamed Lake Ontario as Lake America. In his remarks at the rally in Tennessee, Trump said he would not change the name of the Hudson River, which is named for explorer Henry Hudson. “He did a good job of setting up that sucker a long time ago,” he said. The president also said he would not change the name of the Mississippi River. “Now, I’m not changing the name of the Mississippi. I love Mississippi. We won that state by so much,” he said. The president can use executive authority to rename bodies of water and other geographic features.

https://www.cnn.com/2026/10/14/politics/american-businesses-targeted-russia-ukraine-coca-cola-mcdonalds As President Donald Trump and his administration have ratcheted up pressure on Ukraine to stop striking Russian refineries, citing harm to American consumers, they have remained silent on recent Russian strikes on US businesses in Ukraine. Russia has escalated its attacks on facilities tied to American corporations – and civilian infrastructure in Ukraine writ large – over the past several months. According to Andy Hunder, the President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine, Russian missiles and drones have damaged facilities belonging to some of America’s most notable brands, including Coca-Cola, PepsiCo, McDonalds and Oreo. Although Russia has tried to deter successful American business in the past, it’s “nothing we’ve seen like over the last months,” Hunder told CNN. “This is a direct hit with drones and missiles, and they keep hitting them. It’s sending a message that they’re targeting American business. We’re not seeing any response from the White House,” he said. “We need this to stop because these are American interests, American money, American investors that are being hit and are being targeted,” he said. When a Russia drone struck a Coca-Cola factory outside Kyiv in early September, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said the attack was a “clear signal” to the US. “Today, the Russians struck a Coca-Cola plant with a drone. Coca-Cola has become such an enemy to them that they’re burning it down with their Shaheds,” Zelensky said in his nightly video address on September 3, referring to “Iranian-designed drones.” “This is a clear signal from Russia to America. The Russians cannot possibly be unaware that this is an American enterprise,” Zelensky added.

https://apnews.com/article/cpi-inflation-consumer-prices-affordability-3985019a54c82421e6112fb57baba048 WASHINGTON (AP) — U.S. inflation accelerated last month as gasoline and many other goods and services became more expensive, evidence that rising prices remain an economic challenge just a few weeks before midterm elections that have focused heavily on affordability. The consumer price index rose 3.7% in September compared with a year ago, the Labor Department said Wednesday, up from 3.4% in August. On a monthly basis, costs jumped 0.6% from August to September, the biggest gain in five months, up from a 0.4% increase the previous month. The figures underscore the lingering impact of the Iran war on gas prices and the stubborn persistence of inflation, which has ticked higher since the war began in late February. The rise isn’t all linked to oil and gas, as surging investment in data centers and AI has also pushed up prices for computer chips and the consumer electronics that use them. Elevated inflation has posed political problems for Republicans in Congress and is a challenge for the Federal Reserve, which is required by Congress to seek stable prices. Excluding the volatile food and energy categories, core prices rose 2.6% in September from a year ago, up from 2.4% the previous month and higher than economists had expected. And they climbed 0.3% from August to September, an elevated pace that, if it continued for a year, would run well above the Fed’s 2% target. Higher inflation will likely put more pressure on the Fed to lift its key interest rate at its next meeting Oct. 27-28. Economists noted that the report showed price increases were spread more broadly across the economy than in recent months.

On the opening day of his trial in the German city of Hamburg, Serhii Kuznetsov, who was a special forces officer with the Ukrainian military at the time of the pipeline attacks in 2022, was accused by prosecutors of being an accomplice to war crimes by attacking civilian infrastructure, causing an explosion, damaging property and disrupting public services. He appeared in court on Wednesday dressed in a grey suit, white shirt and black tie and flanked by his lawyers. Kuznetsov saluted as he entered the courtroom. He and his legal team listened in silence for 10 minutes as the federal prosecutor general read out the indictment, which was simultaneously translated into Ukrainian. Kuznetsov, 50, is alleged to have prepared and carried out the detonation of at least four incendiary devices of up to 27kg in weight at a depth of about 80 metres in the Baltic Sea close to the Danish island of Bornholm. He is believed to have had six accomplices – four deep-sea divers, an explosives expert and a ship’s captain – who are alleged to have used a rented yacht and timer-controlled explosives. Kuznetsov and his country deny any involvement in the attacks. Kuznetsov’s lawyers argued that the trial should not be taking place at all, telling the court that the defendant, who they said had been held almost entirely in solitary confinement for 11 months, was being treated “like a pawn on a chessboard”.

https://apnews.com/article/kari-lake-hand-count-ballots-lawsuit-sanctions-4e57d720bf2c1e44c476f0742b1214b5 PHOENIX (AP) — The U.S. Supreme Court has refused to toss out $122,000 in legal costs that lawyers for former Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake were ordered to pay for false and misleading statements they made in a lawsuit that sought to require a hand-count of all ballots in the 2022 midterm elections. The nation’s highest court on Tuesday denied a request from Andrew D. Parker, an attorney who represented Lake in the lawsuit, to review a lower-court decision over the legal costs arising from the unsuccessful litigation. The lawsuit by Lake and state lawmaker Mark Finchem sought to ban electronic tabulation devices. It was dismissed by a judge who found Lake and Finchem lacked standing to sue and that their lawsuit was filed too close to the election. In 2022, Lake lost the governor’s race to Democrat Katie Hobbs and Finchem was defeated in the secretary of state’s race by Democrat Andrian Fontes. Both Republicans had promoted the narrative that the 2020 election was marred by fraud. Maricopa County had sought sanctions against Lake, Finchem and their lawyers, alleging they broke a court rule by making unfounded allegations and by not conducting the necessary research before filing the lawsuit. U.S. District Judge John Tuchi later concluded the lawsuit’s claims lacked an adequate basis in fact, that the standard inquiry attorneys must make before pressing litigation hadn’t been done and that the lawyers acted recklessly in seeking a court order based on frivolous claims. The requirement to pay the legal fees applies to the lawyers who pressed the lawsuit, not to Lake and Finchem. The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals rejected appeals over the lawsuit’s dismissal and the awarding of the legal fees.

https://www.reuters.com/world/us/trump-says-military-execution-ewill-not-be-livestreamed-2026-10-15/ WASHINGTON, Oct 15 (Reuters) - US President Donald Trump has canceled the planned livestream of the execution of the former US Army major who killed 13 people at Texas' Fort Hood, saying on Thursday that he had overruled his defense chief who had intended it to be a public spectacle. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth had announced earlier this month that Nidal Hasan would be executed by a firing squad on December 3 at the Fort Hood military base, the site of Hasan's 2009 attack, surprising many by saying it would be broadcast live. No other country is known to televise or livestream judicial executions. Trump and his advisers had been unaware of the livestream plan before Hegseth's announcement in a media interview, according to a White House official speaking on condition of anonymity. "I think streaming the execution for all to see might have been a strong deterrent for the World to witness how America deals with Terrorists and SCUM like Hasan but, many very good and well meaning people would rather not watch him die, through streaming, or through any other visual device," Trump wrote in a social media post. "He will die, as scheduled, by firing squad, but this event will not be streamed." The families of Hasan's victims will be able to view the execution in person if they so choose, as is standard at US executions. Some of Trump's fellow Republicans, including Vice President JD Vance, as well as religious leaders and international observers had expressed doubts about the Pentagon's livestream plan. Recent polls have also shown a majority of Americans opposed livestreaming it. Archbishop Timothy Broglio, who oversees the spiritual care of Catholic members of the US armed forces, also raised objections, while Pope Leo condemned capital punishment in all its forms.

https://www.nbcnews.com/world/ukraine/ukraine-resumes-strikes-russian-oil-refineries-trump-starlink-intel-rcna603648 Ukraine has resumed strikes on Russian oil refineries after President Volodymyr Zelenskyy angrily accused the United States of betraying Kyiv with a “dangerous” withdrawal of support critical to its defense against Russia. Ukraine held off on attacks for three days after President Donald Trump’s unilateral “energy ceasefire” announcement, but it accused Russia of repeatedly attacking its power grid. Zelenskyy voiced mounting frustration over the Kremlin’s failure to abide by the truce and what he sees as U.S. attempts to pressure Kyiv following gaps in intelligence-sharing about Russian attacks and restrictions on the Starlink internet service. Satellite internet functionality via Starshield — the military version of the SpaceX service in Ukraine — has resumed at previous speeds for the moment, Ukrainian Chargé d’Affaires Denys Sienik told NBC News on Thursday. “We hope it will remain unchanged,” Sienik said. “Speed is critical for logistics and for intercepting the jet-powered Shahed drones.” The Ukrainian government still has received no response from SpaceX or the U.S. Defense Department about the reason for the recent limitations, a Ukrainian official said. In an interview with the Financial Times published Thursday, Zelenskyy indicated his patience had already been exhausted. “The block [on attacking refineries] is out. We’re done,” Zelenskyy was quoted as saying. Hours later, a fire was reported at an oil refinery in the western Ryazan region, Gov. Pavel Malkov said. The Russian Defense Ministry said Ukraine had “attempted a massive attack on the Ryazan oil refinery.”

If Ken Paxton wins in Texas, he may have Elon Musk to thank. Mr. Musk, the world’s richest person and a Texas resident who has major business interests in the state, sent $158 million in September to a super PAC that immediately flipped that much money to a group backing Mr. Paxton’s Senate bid, according to campaign-finance filings released Thursday. The donations from Mr. Musk, collectively some of the biggest ever recorded in American politics, have allowed Mr. Paxton to remain financially competitive even as he is vastly outraised by his Democratic opponent, James Talarico. Republicans in Texas have grown increasingly worried about the race, one of this year’s most expensive and high-profile contests, fearful of losing a statewide election in Texas for the first time in more than three decades. Mr. Musk sent the money to Senate Republicans’ top super PAC, the Senate Leadership Fund, in donations of $75 million on Sept. 9 and $83 million on Sept. 23. Each time, the very next day, the super PAC cut a check of the same amount to Texas PAC, a group that the Senate Leadership Fund had set up to support Mr. Paxton. The money sent to the Texas group was not necessarily Mr. Musk’s, and super PAC officials have said publicly that they were seeking new donations to finance a pro-Paxton operation. But without Mr. Musk’s historic donations, it’s unlikely that such a large amount would have flowed Mr. Paxton’s way.

The dismissal came just hours after the president urged Zacharia to "reconsider" the opportunity after a sordid first week at the podium, according to initial reporting from The New York Times. Fox News separately confirmed with a senior White House official that the conservative political pundit was "transitioning out" of the role after holding her first press conference to much scrutiny on Monday. Representatives for the White House did not immediately respond to TheWrap's request for comment. A former Fox News and Newsmax commentator, Zacharia previously served as a spokesperson and deputy assistant secretary for public affairs at the Department of Homeland Security before becoming a senior communications adviser at Trump Media & Technology Group. She succeeded Leavitt, who left the administration in August. Zacharia's first appearance before the White House press corps on Oct. 13 lasted about 14 minutes, with questions taken from just three outlets: Breitbart News, Fox News and the Daily Mail. She then directed reporters to ask Trump questions as he departed the White House.

Inside, authorities say they found 13 large storage totes packed with approximately 30 pounds of suspected fentanyl and 677 pounds of suspected methamphetamine, a combined haul of more than 700 pounds. “The massive scale of this seizure underscores the staggering volume of illicit narcotics flowing into our communities from transnational criminal organizations,” said First Assistant U.S. Attorney Sigal Chattah for the District of Nevada. “Fourteen kilograms of fentanyl alone represents approximately seven million potentially lethal two-milligram doses — enough to kill more than twice the population of Nevada — and, when combined with over 650 pounds of methamphetamine, represents an estimated street value of approximately $2 million,” Chattah said. Based on that lethal-dose estimate, the fentanyl could potentially kill nearly twice the population of Los Angeles, everyone in Indiana or roughly the entire population of Paraguay

It's the season for treason https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/trump-waives-many-russia-related-sanctions-tariffs-before-they-were-take-effect-2026-10-17/ WASHINGTON, Oct 16 (Reuters) - President Donald Trump waived key Russia-related US sanctions and tariffs days before they were to take effect under a law he signed last month, including duties on the country's goods and penalties for buying its oil and gas. In an executive order released by the White House on Friday, Trump said the waiver was in the national interests of the United States. The law is meant to increase pressure on Russia for its invasion of Ukraine that began in 2022. Trump, however, has been warming toward Moscow while publicly criticizing Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, including suggesting Kyiv needs a new leader. Weeks before US midterm elections in which Trump's Republicans are battling to maintain their narrow grip on both chambers of Congress, the new measures could have risked further raising oil prices as Americans face increased costs largely attributed to the US-Israeli war on Iran, analysts have said. The legislation, whose primary backer in Congress was the late Senator Lindsey Graham, a South Carolina Republican, would have imposed tariffs of up to 100% within 30 days on all goods brought into the US from the five largest importers of Russian crude oil or gas, as well as any country that knowingly bought oil or gas 30 days after the law was enacted or was among the top five countries helping Russia evade sanctions. The order said the waiver will remain in effect until Trump or his top officials determine that "further action is appropriate." Countries such as China and India, which are among the biggest buyers of Russian oil, have raised concerns about the Russia sanctions bill.

https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/politics-news/musk-movie-tiktok-banned-theaters-showtimes-1236734308/ TikTok has banned the Musk film advertising account, citing a repeated pattern of political content that violates its policies. The move, which comes just as the Alex Gibney’s investigation into Elon Musk expands to more than 470 screens across North America, raises concerns about Big Tech suppression that the very film seeks to expose. Distributor Bleecker Street was informed Friday afternoon a “permanent suspension” was coming regarding any ads it tried to buy, and the company was unable to do so shortly after. The native unpaid TikTok account, which generally allows more leeway on so-called political content, remains active, though Bleecker Street is not allowed to pay to boost its content, as many companies traditionally do. A spokesperson for the distributor confirmed that TikTok reps had informed them of the suspension and noted “disappointment” in the timing. After grossing $70,000 in four theaters in New York and Los Angeles in its first weekend of release, Musk is now playing in dozens of cities this weekend. The spokesperson said the company is in the process of appealing the move; even a reversal, however, could still prove costly if it doesn’t come during a weekend window when many people are likely to see the film. A TikTok representative did not comment. Email correspondence between TikTok and Bleecker Street representatives shows a cycle of rejection and appeals on various paid posts, including the trailer, which an official said will “continue to get pulled from the platform” due to political content. Another spot, a shot of a quote from The New Yorker saying that “Americans should probably watch this film like their life depends on it,” was also stopped, due to a “static image.”

Kiran Kaur, 53, was jailed for three years in July for removing the knife her son, Vickrum Digwa, used to kill the 18-year-old student in Southampton in December. Hampshire and Isle of Wight Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) Donna Jones said Kaur's early release would be "a significant blow for Henry's family". Under the Sentencing Act 2026, which came into force on 1 October, most prisoners serving fixed-term sentences of up to two and a half years are automatically released on licence after serving a third of the time, rather than half. Kaur, who is appealing against her sentence, would serve the rest of it in the community on licence, and could be recalled to prison if she breached her licence conditions. She spent 221 days on remand, which the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) said was taken into account when she was sentenced. Her crime of assisting an offender is not one of the offences excluded from changes to the early release scheme. Jones told BBC Radio 4's Today programme: "She wasn't even sentenced until July this year, which was just three months ago, and here we are now talking about her potential release."

Deliberately and collectively sowing disorder through violence is not,” Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez wrote on X, pointing to the lootings of hundreds of businesses in Paris, Marseille, Lyon, Bordeaux, Rennes, Strasbourg, Grenoble, Nice, Limoges and other cities. Nuñez and Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu attributed some of the violence to “radical far-left groups” and said others later joined to loot.

https://www.theguardian.com/media/2026/oct/18/cbs-reporter-apologizes-abdul-el-sayed-post CBS’s chief legal correspondent Jan Crawford has apologized for and deleted a social media post praising a man who questioned the Democratic Michigan US Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed about the Muslim Brotherhood during a town hall on Saturday. On Sunday, Crawford, who initially joined CBS in 2009, wrote on twitter: “Earlier, I tweeted a video from an Abdul El-Sayed town hall. I deleted that tweet because it was a violation of CBS News standards. I apologize.” Crawford’s deleted post had thanked a man named Tommy, who has been later outed as a Republican operative worked for Republican senator Josh Hawley, while also saying: “I had to watch this twice to catch Dr Abdul El-Sayed’s nanosecond, ‘yeah, absolutely,’ response. His subsequent uninterrupted three-minute diatribe proving your exact point is the kind of spectacular self own most [people] only dream about triggering. Congrats.” The video to which Crawford referred showed the man who identified himself only as Tommy asking El-Sayed: “Will you disavow the Muslim Brotherhood?” In response, El-Sayed said: “Sure. Yeah, absolutely. Why are you asking the question?” Tommy replied: “Well, because they’re a terrorist group.” El-Sayed then rejoined, “But what are you implying? Do you assume that I wouldn’t? “You’re asking the question because implicitly you assume that I’ll have dual loyalties, right? You assume that somehow I wouldn’t disavow, or that I’ll have some higher order allegiance than the constitution.” Crawford’s tweet evidently generated substantial backlash from within CBS and among other members of the news media. The Guardian’s media reporter Jeremy Barr wrote on twitter on Sunday: “I’m told there was a lot of internal backlash at CBS News to the Jan Crawford tweet – which may be why she deleted it.”

In the now-famous exchange, a man – first identified by the Handbasket as Thomas “Tommy” Teepell – asked El-Sayed if he would “disavow” the Muslim Brotherhood. El-Sayed said he would, but then asked: “What are you implying? Do you assume that I wouldn’t?” What followed was a five-minute exchange that has drawn over 50m views across several social media platforms, in which El-Sayed queries the man about the guarantees of religious freedom in the constitution. Teepell is the son of Timothy “Timmy” Teepell, a longtime strategist for the Missouri Republican senator Josh Hawley as well as former Republican Louisiana governor Bobby Jindal. Timmy Teepell’s firm, Breakthrough LLC, was paid $250,000 on 29 September by America Next, a 501(c)(4) non-profit with which it shares a Baton Rouge office suite, according to a filing with the Federal Election Commission (FEC). The filing says the money would fund the canvassing and influencer marketing in opposition to El-Sayed. It is the only independent expenditure the group has reported since 2015, when it paid OnMessage Inc for television advertising backing Bobby Jindal’s presidential campaign.

https://www.city-journal.org/article/cornell-university-rape-case-columbia-students On October 13, Columbia University juniors Nikos Mohammadi and Christina Ma published an opinion piece on the alleged rape of “Jane Doe” by seven members of a fraternity at Cornell. Dissenting from general campus opinion, they argued that it was “worth taking a pause before jumping to wide-sweeping conclusions” about the case, and that the prevailing rhetoric—that women lack meaningful agency when choosing to perform acts they may later come to regret—was infantilizing. Seething responses flooded in. “Brother you gotta go kill yourself,” one read. “I hope this follows you around forever,” read another. “[H]ope both are shown the same cruelty you carry in your heart for someone you don’t even know,” read a third. The Columbia Open Discourse Alliance, “a non-partisan coalition for free speech and open discourse,” condemned Sundial, where the piece was published, claiming that it “promotes rape culture.” Such opinions simply should not be permitted, argued the Columbia Political Review. That the piece was published, and that Sundial is standing its ground, is a good sign for free speech on campus. But as the backlash demonstrates, conformity to an apparent socially acceptable position continues to take precedence for many students at America’s most prestigious schools. In their essay, Mohammadi and Ma argue that the Cornell incident is complicated by significant legal and moral nuance, and that students should therefore pause and think rather than vandalizing buildings or summarily concluding that this confirms the existence of “campus rape culture.” They further argue that it infantilizes women and denies them agency to suggest that no sex is permissible if a woman later comes to feel, after consenting in the moment, that the experience was traumatic or immoral. In other words, they maintain, freedom includes the possibility of making bad decisions.

https://www.politico.com/news/2026/10/21/peter-thiel-trump-iran-war-01131284 Billionaire technology investor Peter Thiel said he’s skeptical of the U.S. war with Iran and does not believe the United States should have launched it, putting the major Republican donor at odds with President Donald Trump over one of the administration’s defining foreign policy decisions. Thiel’s remarks, delivered on Oct. 12 at a private event, are his most explicit statements to be revealed publicly about the war with Iran and come less than two weeks before the midterm elections in which Trump’s party is grasping to maintain power in Congress. The audio of Thiel’s comments was obtained by Decoded by POLITICO from a lecture earlier this month. “I’m skeptical of [the war], I think we should not have done it,” Thiel said. “There were a lot of mistakes that were made.” Thiel added, “Maybe we don’t have the hard power. Maybe we’re going to lose the soft power war.” In the full lecture, Thiel made clear his strong opposition to neoconservatives and Middle East wars. Despite his criticism of the Iran war, Thiel highlighted his continued support of Trump and suggested he wanted to protect the president. Still, Thiel’s break over the war represents one of the most important examples to date of a fierce Trump ally sharing deep concerns about the conflict.

https://reclaimthenet.org/ofcom-struggles-enforce-online-safety-fines-abroad https://prestonbyrne.com/2026/10/20/ofcom-concedes-defeat/ There is nothing like a good law to keep the internet “safe” – unless, of course, that law happens to be the UK’s Online Safety Act, and the entities that are supposed to be kept censored are based abroad. In that case, the country’s media regulator Ofcom, which is in charge of enforcing the Act, is pretty much (thankfully) powerless abroad, as its chief executive Dame Melanie Dawes admitted to MPs on October 20. In the same hearing, she said that the UK’s coming ban on under-16s using social media will be “much more draconian” (yes, those were her words) for Meta than the settlement the company recently agreed in the US. “We won’t be able to recover every single fine on online safety,” she said during a hearing organized by the Commons Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Committee, dedicated to Ofcom’s work. The reason is this: “If foreign courts decide to...try and get in our way, there will be a point at which we have to accept that we won’t be able to recover that money.” Ofcom will not give up easily, Dawes promised: “But we will always seek to go as far as we can.”

Turns out Trump isn't the only traitor who is putin's cockholster and gives a textbook reason why all musk's businesses need to be seized and nationalized on national security grounds. https://www.wsj.com/world/ukraine-starlink-elon-musk-trump-dbc49193 WASHINGTON—Elon Musk ordered the slowdown of a military-grade version of Starlink relied on by Ukraine, a decision that sparked panic in Kyiv and confusion inside the Trump administration, U.S. officials and people familiar with the matter said. Both Musk and President Trump have expressed anger at Ukraine for attacking Russian diesel refineries in recent weeks, which the president blames for high energy prices. Last week, Musk capped the speeds at which Ukrainian hardware could stay connected to the satellite-based network, the people said, rendering some offensive drones and interceptor drones virtually useless. Musk and Trump discussed the Starlink decision in a call soon after the slowdown became public, while the president was campaigning last week, two of the people said. One of the people also claimed Musk and Trump discussed the matter prior to the decision to throttle Starlink. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s public complaints—namely that Ukrainians could die if the unrestricted service wasn’t restored—led to widespread confusion about who ordered the slowdown, and to an informal investigation inside the White House. During the uproar, SpaceX representatives called White House counterparts seeking a unified understanding and subsequent message that the company and Trump administration coordinated ahead of Musk’s directive, the people said. Musk himself posted on Twiiter hours after the slowdown became public, “Any limits on speed or usage are decided by the US military and ultimately POTUS,” using the acronym for president of the United States. Trump told reporters Monday that he didn’t know who was responsible for the Starlink slowdown, “but I would like to find out.”

Trump ordered to answer questions under oath in BBC lawsuit https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cmy0ryjx7741o A US judge has ordered President Donald Trump to answer questions under oath in his defamation lawsuit against the BBC by 11 December. Trump is suing the BBC over an episode of Panorama that edited together two different sections of a speech he gave before the riot at the US Capitol in 2021. Charles Tobin, a lawyer representing the BBC, said in court that "we still haven't been able to depose the plaintiff" with two months left in the discovery period. Trump cancelled a previous deposition on 16 October, citing "matters of national importance" while he was campaigning in Georgia. In US law, a deposition is an out-of-court statement made under oath in response to questions, which is recorded for use in later proceedings. The judge in the case, US Magistrate Judge Enjoliqué Lett, said that Trump must sit for the deposition by 11 December, unless the discovery period is extended. Last week, attorneys asked that Lett compel Trump to face deposition after the last scheduled meeting did not take place.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/national-security/2026/10/22/hegseth-wanted-eisenhowers-globe-his-office-his-staff-broke-it/ It was early this year when Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth wanted to move the world. A replica of it, anyway. Two floor globes said to be used by Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower during World War II are housed in the Pentagon, where subsequent generations of Army leaders became custodians of the artifacts, according to people familiar with their lineage and an accompanying plaque dating them to the 1930s. The historical significance was attractive to Hegseth, these people said, and his staff requested that the secretary’s office become the new home to one of the 30-inch globes. Ordinarily, moving historical items within the building is a deliberate process overseen by trained curators. Instead, Hegseth’s staff dispatched its own team to relocate an Eisenhower globe. They lost control of the artifact and dropped it, sending the globe crashing onto its base and impaling the fragile shell near Antarctica, according to those familiar with the incident. The resulting gash appears to be several inches wide. Pentagon officials denied The Washington Post’s request for a photo of the globe or to examine the artifact in person, but The Post separately obtained images of the damage.

Since high school students began protesting in France in September, they’ve been joined by young demonstrators in at least seven other European countries. https://www.nytimes.com/2026/10/21/world/europe/europe-protests-youth-future.html Young Spaniards and Portuguese have pitched tents in their countries’ capitals to protest high rents. French and Italian students have marched en masse for better school conditions in demonstrations marred by looters. Greeks protested for more university funding and young Albanians clashed with the police after joining broad anti-corruption demonstrations against a government they accused of impeding their prospects. These are among the young Europeans who have taken to the streets in recent days in at least eight countries across the continent. Their demands vary according to the context and the government, but a common thread unites them all: They fear for their future. “The no-future generation is back,” Sacha Cossi, 27, a concert stagehand, said on Tuesday as he sat with a group of other young Spaniards under a low tarp in the tent encampment in central Madrid. Mr. Cossi said the tent city, there for weeks, reflected a continent-wide exasperation over low salaries and high rents, an impotence in the face of global warming and a general anxiety about job prospects and the potential disappearance of the generous welfare benefits enjoyed by previous generations. “We are tired of everything,” he said, adding: “Things keep changing in a way that doesn’t benefit us.”

https://nypost.com/2026/10/22/us-news/soros-backed-new-mexico-ag-behind-25b-meta-lawsuit-accused-of-seeking-tax-on-speech/ The jaw-dropping $25 billion penalty Meta was slapped with on Oct. 21 is raising questions about New Mexico Attorney General Raúl Torrez’s crackdown on the company’s privacy and content-moderation practices. The massive fine could have a chilling effect on companies doing business in the state, as well as on free speech. Torrez — who entered into politics with a 2016 run for district attorney backed by more than $100,000 in spending from a George Soros-funded super PAC — has faced criticism during his tenure for prosecuting just half the criminal cases referred by law enforcement. But he has taken a far more aggressive approach to tech companies than violent criminals according to local reports. Meta’s chief legal officer, C.J. Mahoney said in a statement Wednesday, “This ruling, and the Attorney General’s approach to this enforcement, makes it all but impossible to do business in the state of New Mexico. At its core, this lawsuit seeks to impose a tax on speech to enforce new rules for what people can say online. We are confident we will prevail on appeal.” The violations carried penalties of up to $5,000 per violation, resulting in a calculation of more than $219 billion before the judge reduced the penalty to $25 billion. The staggering judgment would be a huge windfall for the state — given New Mexico’s $11 billion annual budget is less than half that. “For too long, powerful technology companies have operated as though their size and influence put them beyond the reach of the law,” Torrez said in a statement following news of the judgment. But the state’s arguments during the two-week trial raised questions about whether its aims went beyond consumer protection — and whether Torrez targeted Meta in part because it rolled back aggressive fact-checking measures.

Miguel Alonso Maldonado Soriano, 27, was caught by cops hacking at the replica of the famous World War II US Marine flag-raising at the Virginia base at around 10:15 p.m. Wednesday night, Fox 5 DC reported, citing police. The vandal decapitated one of the six servicemen depicted in the monument and caused additional damage. Cops said the vandalism caused hundreds of thousands of dollars in damage. “This criminal illegal alien’s dream is over: Maldonado Soriano disrespected our brave service members and defaced a beautiful monument that honored their sacrifice,” White House spokesperson Taylor Rogers said in a statement to The Post. “President Trump has secured our border and is deporting illegal criminals who hate our country and our values. The socialist Democrats want to go back to open borders and flood our communities with dangerous criminal illegal aliens.” Maldonado Soriano was slapped with felony destruction of property, trespassing with intent to damage property, and felony injury to a monument charges, the outlet reported. The alleged sledgehammer nut is being held without bond. The statue at the US Marine Base Quantico — located around 36 miles south of Washington DC — was sculpted from limestone by Felix de Weldon in 1954 and honors all Marines who have died in defense of the country since 1775.

These are not serious people. https://newrepublic.com/post/217060/white-house-intervened-shut-down-epstein-files-investigation The White House was involved in the FBI’s Epstein files cover-up all along. The FBI’s July 2025 Epstein files memo immediately blew up in the bureau’s face. Its declaration that there was no “client list,” no punishable co-conspirators, and no grounds for further investigation both infuriated the president’s MAGA voter base and started the long domino effect that would eventually oust ex–Attorney General Pam Bondi. Trump administration messages obtained by Raw Story revealed Friday that Taylor Budowich, then the White House deputy chief of staff, had his fingers in the FBI’s drafting process prior to the memo’s public release. “Have something I can edit?” Budowich emailed FBI Director Kash Patel two weeks before the memo was released. The email’s subject line read: “Re: Draft memo from DOJ—we have not edited it yet.” “Just got it from DOJ. Here you go. Thanks,” Patel responded hours later. The next day, Budowich told Patel that he had passed the draft along to the White House communications team, noting that the message needed to be pasted on DOJ and FBI letterhead, according to Raw Story. Almost a week later, then–Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche sent a “final version” to Budowich. It failed to meet Budowich’s expectations, however, lacking the identifying seal of the Justice Department. “I need a version on letterhead,” Budowich repeated. “Someone needs to own this. I can’t give a doc to a reporter that could easily be confused with a [high school] term paper, so need to provide some validation of the doc.” Diego Pestana, Blanche’s counsel, fulfilled Budowich’s request an hour and a half later.

trump's lawsuit only goes into effect, ONLY if the republican loses. It doesn't get more brazen for attempting to steal an election, outside of trump's failed coup on Jan 6th. And this a prelude to trump's next coup. https://www.politico.com/news/2026/10/23/im-the-one-trump-says-he-ordered-alaska-elections-lawsuit-01134040 President Donald Trump on Friday said he personally directed the Department of Justice to file a lawsuit seeking to prevent Alaska from certifying its Senate election results if Republicans lose. “I’m the one that said do it,” the president told reporters shortly after landing in Florida. The president’s admission comes a day after DOJ sued Alaska election officials, arguing that the presence of an independent candidate named Dan Sullivan in addition to the incumbent Sen. Dan Sullivan on the ballot could confuse voters and cost the party the race against Democratic Rep. Mary Peltola. It’s one of a handful of races seen as key to maintaining GOP control of the Senate. The lawsuit marks an extraordinary intervention by the federal government in a state election, with the administration seeking to delay certification of results if the incumbent loses by a margin small enough that votes cast for the independent Sullivan could have changed the outcome. “Given the substantial likelihood that the inclusion of Daniel J. Sullivan will confuse or mislead voters looking to cast a vote for Senator Sullivan, and thus distort the will of Alaskan voters, there is a substantial likelihood that a certification of the election will reflect an electoral process that lacked integrity,” DOJ wrote in its complaint. The Alaska Supreme Court in June ruled that the independent Sullivan could remain on the ballot, but Trump continued to rail against his candidacy and the state’s election rules.

More than two years later, the arresting officer no longer works for the Winter Springs Police Department. Advertisement Kevin Finley feels vindicated now that the officer, who falsely accused him of fleeing and then detained him at gunpoint outside his garage in 2024, has left the force. "I feel it's the first step, yeah, there's some accountability, finally,” Finley told WESH 2. “It's a little bit of relief. I feel like the community is a lot safer now." Officer Erik Schwartz is heard on his body-camera video telling Finley to “turn around, get on your knees,” before he placed him in handcuffs for 33 minutes. "I was very scared,” Finley said. “I had no clue what was going on." Finley was driving home after dropping his children off at daycare. He said he wasn’t trying to flee because he didn’t see the lights or hear the sirens when Officer Schwartz initiated a traffic stop near his house for driving through an intersection at a high rate of speed. Finley was never charged with felony fleeing and eluding. "So, here's the deal: you're not going to jail today,” Schwartz told Finley in the body-camera video. “You are going to be issued multiple citations for your driving. You're also receiving a criminal citation for the reckless driving." The next day Finley said he went to the Winter Springs Police Department and “explained to them like, 'Hey, I have video, like, we can clear this right up?' And they just didn't care." When Finley’s case went to trial in July, he proved he never saw the officer coming after him with video recorded by the camera on the back of his Tesla.

https://www.reuters.com/world/americas/brazil-heads-polls-runoff-between-leftist-lula-bolsonaro-jr-2026-10-25/ SAO PAULO, Oct 25 (Reuters) - Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva won an unprecedented fourth term on Sunday, the country's electoral court said, in a shock result that defied polls, precedent and global anti-incumbent sentiment to put the brakes on a wave of right-wing election victories across Latin America. Lula, an icon of the global left and the most dominant force in Brazilian politics this century, defeated Senator Flavio Bolsonaro, the eldest son of former President Jair Bolsonaro. The senator had finished first in the election's first round and hoped to revive his father's far-right movement. At times, Lula's reelection looked like a long shot, as voters soured on him and his Workers' Party after years of corruption scandals and rising prices, while sweeping societal changes left the former metalworker and union leader looking out of touch with an increasingly app-based economy and its growing ranks of informal workers. Lula's victory marks another comeback in a career full of them. The 80-year-old was jailed from 2018 to 2019 on corruption charges that were later overturned, paving the way for him to beat Jair Bolsonaro in the 2022 election. "He is a statesman, a giant," leftist federal lawmaker Erika Hilton, who was with Lula in Sao Paulo during the vote count, told Reuters. >UNLIKELY PATH TO VICTORY Pollsters said better-than-expected turnout had powered Lula to victory. Leonardo Barreto, the co-founder of consultancy Think Policy, said voters had chosen Lula's familiar embrace over Bolsonaro's novelty. "People today are choosing between change, with some apprehension, and a known path, which guarantees certain rights," he said.

    >The report alleges Donald Trump was an “active participant” in Jeffrey Epstein’s abuse. https://newrepublic.com/post/217134/democrats-50-page-report-donald-trump-epstein-files-cover-up >Democrats just dropped a heavy hammer on the president, eight days out from Election Day. >House Judiciary Committee Democrats released a 50-page report Monday morning accusing Donald Trump of participating in Jeffrey Epstein’s criminal sex schemes. The caucus also accused the Trump administration of a broad cover-up, designed to shield the president from blowback as it tried to roll out the release of the Epstein files to the general public. >The report cites the experiences of 11 women, FBI records, and documents released through the Epstein Files Transparency Act. At least five women accused Trump of rape or sexual assault in Epstein’s company, according to interviews conducted by the committee. Others said there were “apparent attempts” by Epstein and his longtime girlfriend and associate Ghislaine Maxwell to traffic them to the real estate magnate. >Beatrice Keul told lawmakers that Trump “violently raped” her at a November 1993 pageant at the Plaza Hotel. She further described the beauty pageants as a “hunting ground” that Epstein and Trump would use to find and “prey” on young women and girls. Jill Harth also shared an account of a party at Mar-a-Lago in 1994, where she said Trump aggressively pursued and sexually assaulted her. Trump and Epstein were the only men present, Harth told lawmakers. >In total, at least 28 women have accused Trump of rape or sexual misconduct. >The report concludes that Trump and Paolo Zampolli, a former modeling agent and longtime friend of the president as well as a former senior Trump administration official, “may have been co-conspirators” in Epstein’s sex trafficking ring in the 1990s.

https://www.wral.com/news/local/state-senate-candidate-custody-after-hours-long-standoff-cary-police-october-2026/ A North Carolina political candidate was arrested Monday following a standoff with Cary police — the culmination of an incident that started with threats on social media and included calls to WRAL to tell his side of the story. Jonathan D. Miller, the Libertarian Party nominee for a state Senate seat covering much of Cary and other parts of western Wake County, was arrested about 3 p.m. after a long standoff with police near Cary’s Lochmere neighborhood. Resurrection Lutheran School, a private school near the standoff location, was in a code yellow lockdown part of Monday. Police said Miller was charged with communicating threats, resisting officers and going armed to the terror of the people, and is at the Wake County Detention Center. Miller’s account on X, formerly known as Twitter, had posted a number of messages on social media Sunday night and throughout the day Monday. The posts spoke of feeling suicidal and included apparent references to seeking gun battles with the police. “The whole police department is chasing me with guns drawn. This should be fun,” a post on Miller’s account said Monday morning, followed by another post saying: “I've got six shots and the high ground. I hope they don't find me, but if they do it's going to be a hell of a show.”

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/inside-pentagons-doomsday-plan-keep-america-fighting-global-war-erupts The Pentagon is preparing U.S. military bases to keep operating for at least 90 days without outside support as it prepares for the possibility of a major war that could cripple power grids, disrupt supply chains and threaten critical infrastructure on American soil. The new requirement is part of FORTRESS, a broader military initiative aimed at ensuring American forces can continue fighting even if the civilian systems they depend on are disrupted, according to documents reviewed by Fox News Digital. "We don't want to rely on standard civilian municipal infrastructure to run our national defense. We just simply can't. It's an intolerable risk," Pentagon chief spokesperson Sean Parnell told Fox News Digital. The Pentagon is also laying the groundwork for civilian factories to shift to defense production during a crisis, while preparing alternative supply chains and strategic reserves to keep weapons, fuel and other essential materials flowing. "Power is combat now. Without electricity, you lose communications, water, logistics, assembly lines and just basic military command structures," Parnell, who led the FORTRESS initiative, said. Under FORTRESS, every major military installation in the continental United States would be expected to sustain essential operations independently for at least 90 days, including access to electricity, water, fuel and communications. The requirement reflects a broader shift in how the Pentagon is preparing for threats to the American homeland, including the possibility that a major conflict could disrupt the infrastructure supporting military operations inside the United States.

The right-wing politician, son of jailed former president Jair Bolsonaro, landed in Miami and was received by his brother Eduardo upon his arrival. Though his party has conceded defeat in Sunday’s election, Bolsonaro has refused to accept the result of the vote and fled the country after the Trump administration announced it would give him and his family visas. A source had earlier told Reuters that Bolsonaro had left Brazil with his wife and two daughters, just hours after police in Brazil said they had cancelled his passports. Police said that Bolsonaro had failed to comply with an order to surrender his passports within 24 hours as part of a probe into alleged money laundering, which he denies. Newly re-elected president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva said that Bolsonaro’s exit from the country was “shameful” and that he should have stayed to prove his innocence.

Key Facts >In a filing made before the D.C. federal court, Piker accused Jennings of defamation, defamation by implication, and portraying him in a false light, and is seeking $27.5 million in compensatory damages and $45 million in punitive damages. >The complaint centers on the August 11 episode of the conservative pundit’s radio program and podcast, The Scott Jennings Show, where Piker alleges Jennings falsely told listeners that the streamer had a “plan of returning our country to lynchings,” while airing a misleading video of his remarks. >The 42-second video that aired on Jennings’ show was shared by the National Republican Senatorial Committee five days earlier on X, and appeared to show Piker describing himself as a “racist” and expressing support for a return to an era of lynchings. >The filing alleges that the video combined footage from three separate Twitch livestreams, rearranged the sequence of Piker’s remarks, and edited out the YouTube debate between two Black political commentators that the streamer was reacting to. >Piker’s lawyers allege the clip omitted his opening words, “He said,” from remarks in which he was sarcastically mocking a Black conservative commentator featured in the YouTube debate who had blamed “woke DAs” for policies harming Black Americans, making it appear as though Piker was expressing his own views.

Apparently you don't need voter ID to catch retards trying to vote as other people https://kstp.com/kstp-news/top-news/hennepin-county-attorney-charges-political-commenters-for-primary-election-vouching-stunt/ Two conservative political commenters have now been charged for their polling place impersonation, in which they highlighted Minnesota’s vouching laws during the state’s primary election. The complaints charge James O’Keefe and Cam Higby, members of the Florida-based O’Keefe Media Group, with identity theft and unlawful voting. Back in August, the two shared videos online in which at least one member of the “Justice League” is dressed in a burqa, and another man in the video can be heard using an accent to try to vouch for others. What Happened? In the video posted online, someone in the O’Keefe and Higby group gave the first name “William” to a poll worker at Pratt Elementary School. When asked for a last name, they responded, “Pomeranz,” and then proceeded to ask about the state’s vouching law. William Pomeranz is an actual registered voter in Minneapolis, although O’Keefe’s group said in a statement that, “The Justice League did not impersonate anyone. At no point did we claim to be William Pomerantz or any other voter. We stated a name and asked election workers questions about Minnesota’s vouching process.” A man in the video can be heard using an accent to try to vouch for others, but O’Keefe’s group apparently left the polling place after being told he needed to sign an oath to vouch for someone. Minnesota Secretary of State Steve Simon says 0.6% of Minnesota voters were vouched for in 2024 — and Simon says he does not recall a case of vouching fraud during his tenure. However, it’s up to local prosecutors to file charges for any election malfeasance, not the Secretary of State’s Office, which did confirm in August that law enforcement was “reviewing” the O’Keefe group video.

In a news release, Cuyahoga prosecutors said a grand jury returned an indictment against Adam Radogna, 37, for possessing dozens of files containing child sexual abuse materials Wednesday. The charges include: Two counts of illegal use of a minor or impaired person in nudity-oriented material or performance, both second-degree felonies. Seven counts of pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor or impaired person, all second-degree felonies. One count of possessing criminal tools, a fifth-degree felony. Prosecutors said members of the Ohio Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force executed a search warrant at Radogna's residence Oct. 22. Radogna was arrested after multiple files containing child sexual abuse materials were found on his devices, according to prosecutors. He was released after posting a $75,000 bond, was ordered to home detention, and was ordered to surrender his passports. https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/greek-container-ship-sinks-after-drone-attack-off-bulgaria-2026-10-29/ ATHENS/SOFIA, Oct 29 (Reuters) - A Greek container ship has sunk after being hit by naval drones off Bulgaria on Wednesday, the Bulgarian government said, in the latest of a series of strikes in the western Black Sea this month that have raised concerns about the widening scope of Russia's war in Ukraine. The Liberian-flagged CONTSHIP JET, loaded with 421 containers, was badly damaged by three sea drones as it passed through Bulgaria's Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) - but outside its territorial waters - en route from Haifa in Israel to Constanța in Romania. The crew of 14 Filipinos and four Ukrainians were all rescued and transferred safely to the Bulgarian port of Varna, Contships Management said. Video footage verified by Reuters showed a sea drone driving alongside the vessel before turning towards its hull. In a separate video, an explosion was seen, causing the ship to eventually list. It was not immediately clear who had carried out the attack, which added to growing concerns about the impact of Russia's war in Ukraine, opens new tab on commercial shipping in the area. Ambrey, a global maritime risk management firm, has analysed footage, reportedly filmed on a handheld device by a crew member on board, showing a matte black, 5-6 meter-long unmanned surface vehicle (USV) approaching the vessel at high speed. The USV was likely a variant of a Russian drone, said Tomas Alexa, a senior analyst at Ambrey Analytics, adding that its manoeuvres indicated it was controlled remotely.

https://apnews.com/article/israel-elections-netanyahu-eisenkot-arab-results-9a0620a1314fdc127245ba1a7f0aa762 JERUSALEM (AP) — Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s party on Thursday amplified unsubstantiated allegations that Arab-led parties had “stolen” the election, potentially with foreign assistance, as final results showed his bloc had lost its majority in parliament. The opposition accused Netanyahu of demonizing the Arab population after a historic showing by Arab-led parties in an attempt to delegitimize the election. If the rest of the opposition teams up with Arab parties, a rare and politically risky move, they could potentially form a majority government in parliament, the Knesset. Results released by election officials on Thursday showed Netanyahu’s bloc winning 53 seats in the 120-member assembly, well below the 68 seats it had controlled at its peak in the previous parliament. His main opposition won 48 seats and Arab-led parties secured the other 19. The count is complete, but the results still need to be certified and submitted to the country’s president next Wednesday. Commission to look into possible foreign interference Netanyahu’s party, Likud, has been spreading claims of malfeasance by Arab-led parties since exit polls indicated the prime minister had suffered a setback in Tuesday’s vote. But it ramped up the rhetoric after the head of Israel’s election committee, Supreme Court Justice Noam Sohlberg, said that “serious suspicions” of foreign interference had been brought before him. In a letter to the Shin Bet security agency, Sohlberg said he could not verify the claims. But given their serious nature, he asked the agency to investigate.

The celebrity, referred to as PPT, is currently accused of using “his power and position as a celebrity to contact and forge relationships with young women and teenagers to try to have sex with them.” On Tuesday, the celebrity’s legal team asked London’s High Court for an injunction to block articles from being published, arguing that their client would be “highly likely” to attempt suicide if they were released, the BBC reported. The attorney representing PPT, Sara Mansoori KC, told the court her client attempted suicide twice after he received notice from publications Guardian News Media and ITN, requesting a comment on the allegations. PPT was released from the hospital after the first attempt and soon tried again. “The claimant has attempted suicide twice as a result of these matters, been hospitalized for months, been the subject of involuntary detention and been examined by multiple — now more than 10 doctors,” Mansoori told the court, adding that PPT “has no intention of returning to public life.” His legal team claimed their client’s third suicide attempt would be a result of concern about “trial by media” rather than wrongdoing. Also during the hearing, the anonymous man vehemently denied the accusations of sexual misconduct against him. However, multiple UK news organizations, including GNM and ITN, argued in court that they have the right to publish articles about the misconduct claims with the man’s identity.

The Republican president will now visit Iowa and Kansas for back-to-back campaign rallies on Sunday, said the person, who insisted on anonymity to discuss his schedule. The scheduling whiplash underscored the chaotic and shifting nature of the final days of the midterm campaigns, in which Trump and Republicans are scrambling to retain their majorities in Congress in an election that has turned largely on affordability issues and the president’s favorability. At the start of the month, Trump promised a marathon sprint of his signature rallies to shore up Republican candidates, and he has headlined 25 of them so far in October. The president on Thursday furiously pushed back at the notion that the initial cancellation of his Kansas rally, which became public as he was returning to Washington from another campaign event in South Carolina, was tied to fatigue or his health. He lashed out at a reporter who asked about canceling the event in Kansas, where GOP Sen. Roger Marshall is running for reelection. “I’m not going to Kansas because he’s doing very well,” Trump said, seeming to refer to Marshall. The president added that “I feel perfect” and that “I don’t feel I have to go to Kansas.”

Authorities have removed security from the premises and put up barriers around the area as they attempt to restore “public order” amid a forced change of leadership. “At such a moment, the President must be in Poland. I’m interrupting my flight to Senegal. I’m returning,” Nawrocki wrote on social media. Prime Minister Donald Tusk, a bitter political adversary of Nawrocki and the Constitutional Tribunal, took credit for the raid and said it was necessary to prevent lawlessness. “Restoring the rule of law is our duty,” Tusk announced late Friday. “After years of PiS-led lawlessness, this is a difficult process, sometimes painful, and it requires decisive action. There is no other way.” Judge Anna Korwin-Piotrowska, the longest-tenured judge on the Constitutional Tribunal, has been appointed interim president after the removal of court president Bogdan Swieczkowski. This was reflected on the court’s website. KARE 11's reporting showed the Department of Homeland Security paid $495 million to purchase CoreCivic's abandoned private prison to use as an ICE facility, when that same facility was offered to the state one year earlier for $75 million. The price difference for the prison sale, $420 million, is more than taxpayers are estimated to have lost in Minnesota’s much-publicized Feeding Our Future fraud scandal. Bessent was joined by other members of the Trump administration at a press event in St. Cloud Friday to discuss the administration's "War on Fraud." When the event opened to reporter questions, KARE 11's Lou Raguse asked Bessent, "If the administration has declared war on waste and fraud, could you explain the $420 million overpayment for a prison in Appleton, Minnesota, when the company offered it to the state of Minnesota for $75 million?" "I don't know anything about that," Bessent responded. "What we are here to do is to prosecute criminal fraud, and any question like that, that deflects away from it, I think is a waste of our time, thanks."

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/trump-lawsuit-wall-street-journal-epstein-birthday-letter-dismissed/ A multimillion-dollar defamation lawsuit by President Trump against The Wall Street Journal over a story reporting his ties to a birthday book for Jeffrey Epstein has been thrown out. In a 20-page ruling, U.S. District Judge Darrin Gayles in Miami dismissed the suit with prejudice on Saturday, ruling that Mr. Trump did not prove the defendants made defamatory statements with actual malice. He said the lawsuit was "grasping at straws" as it attempted to "manufacture" flaws in the WSJ's investigative reporting. Actual malice requires that plaintiffs prove that statements made about a public figure were published with the knowledge that they were false, or with disregard for whether they are true or not. When a case is thrown out "with prejudice," it cannot be refiled again, and the dismissal is permanent and incontrovertible. "President Trump will continue to press forward in his powerhouse lawsuit against the Wall Street Journal and all of the other defendants," a spokesperson for Mr. Trump's legal team told CBS News in a statement. "The President will continue to hold those who mislead the American People with Fake News and smears accountable for their actions." A source familiar with Mr. Trump's legal strategy said that the decision will likely be appealed. The lawsuit was over a story the WSJ published last year describing a sexually suggestive letter that the paper said bore Mr. Trump's name and was included in a 2003 album compiled for Epstein's 50th birthday.

https://nypost.com/2026/10/30/tech/sam-altman-roasted-over-comments-suggesting-ordinary-people-are-wasting-limited-computer-memory/ OpenAI boss Sam Altman is getting roasted online after suggesting it’s “quite terrible” that ordinary people are using up the world’s limited supply of computer memory instead of putting it to better use in the cloud. The Bay Area tech billionaire made the eyebrow-raising remarks during a recent interview with Stripe President John Collison on his YouTube show, “Cheeky Pint,” where the pair chat over beers with founders, builders and business leaders. Altman took issue with people using “a bunch” of the world’s limited supply of DRAM, a type of memory commonly found in PCs, laptops, smartphones and tablets. The OpenAI chief argued that because the average person only uses their DRAM about 5% of the time, the world’s supply should be put to maximum use — particularly in what he described as a “very supply constrained environment.” The comments quickly set off a RAMpage online, with viewers accusing Altman of suggesting that computer memory belongs in AI data centers rather than in the hands of everyday consumers. “Bro’s talking about the ‘world’s limited supply of DRAM’ like he isn’t personally responsible for the world’s supply of DRAM being limited,” one commenter wrote.
